Margaree River and Tributaries Water Temperatures
PURPOSE:To record hourly water temperatures throughout the Margaree watershed.DESCRIPTION:The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) has been deploying water temperature monitoring equipment since spring 1993 in the Margaree River watershed. Coverage has changed throughout the time series and there is little documentation regarding equipment used. In recent years data have been collected using VEMCOs. USE LIMITATION:To ensure scientific integrity and appropriate use of the data, we would encourage you to contact the data custodian.
Timing Windows for Work in and About Waterbodies in the Cariboo Natural Resource Region
Timing windows are the period(s) during the year when work may be carried out in and about water bodies with the lowest risk to fish and wildlife species and habitat. Timing windows and terms and conditions vary based on regional differences in fish and wildlife species and habitat, and geography. The timing window of least risk to fish and fish habitat must be applied to all activities in water bodies, as well as tributaries that have a risk of depositing sediment into water bodies. Windows of least risk are designed to protect all fish species known to occur in a water body.
Salmon Rivers Presence, Maritimes Region
The names of these rivers in the Bay of Fundy and Port Hawkesbury Area Response Plan (ARP) regions were obtained from Recovery Potential Assessments (see references), and cross referenced with the Atlas of Canada hosted online by Natural Resources Canada. These rivers were then identified and marked in ArcGIS using the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick Hydrographic Networks. Point features were used to represent the river mouths. For rivers large enough to be represented by polygon features, the point was placed where the polygon closed the inlet. For smaller rivers represented by a polyline, the point was placed where the line intersected the coastline. When multiple tributaries of a river were identified as salmon rivers, only the most seaward was marked.Cite this data as: Corrigan, S. Data of: Salmon Rivers Presence, Maritimes Region. Community Well-Being Index
The Community Well-Being (CWB) Index is a method of assessing socio-economic well-being in Canadian communities. Various indicators of socio-economic well-being, including education, labour force activity, income and housing, are derived from Statistics Canada's Census of Population and combined to give each community a well-being "score". These scores are used to compare well-being across First Nations and Inuit communities with well-being in other Canadian communities. Indicator values may be missing for a community because of non-participation in the census, inadequate data quality, or insufficient population size. Percentage of owner households spending 30% or more income on shelter costs by census subdivision, 2016
This service shows the proportion of average total income of households which is spent on shelter costs by census subdivision. The data is from the Census Profile, Statistics Canada Catalogue no. 98-316-X2016001.Shelter-cost-to-income ratio is calculated for private households living in owned or rented dwellings who reported a total household income greater than zero.Private households living in band housing, located on an agricultural operation that is operated by a member of the household, and households who reported a zero or negative total household income are excluded.The relatively high shelter-costs-to-household income ratios for some households may have resulted from the difference in the reference period for shelter costs and household total income data. The reference period for shelter cost data is 2016, while household total income is reported for the year 2015. This service shows the percentage of population, excluding institutional residents, with knowledge of English and French for Canada by 2016 census subdivision. The data is from the Census Profile, Statistics Canada Catalogue no. 98-316-X2016001.Knowledge of official languages refers to whether the person can conduct a conversation in English only, French only, in both languages or in neither language. For a child who has not yet learned to speak, this includes languages that the child is learning to speak at home. Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation 2021
The Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation (CIMD) is an area-based index which used 2021 Census of Population microdata to measure four key dimensions of deprivation at the dissemination area (DA)-level: residential instability, economic dependency, situational vulnerability and ethno-cultural composition.Using factor analysis, DA-level factor scores were calculated for each dimension. Within a dimension, ordered scores were assigned a quintile value, 1 through 5, where 1 represents the least deprived and 5 represents the most deprived.The CIMD allows for an understanding of inequalities in various measures of health and social well-being. While it is a geographically-based index of deprivation and marginalization, it can also be used as a proxy for an individual. The CIMD has the potential to be widely used by researchers on a variety of topics related to socio-economic research. Other uses for the index may include: policy planning and evaluation, or resource allocation.*** Correction October 22, 2024 ***A correction has been made to the variables in the following downloadable 2021 CIMD index datasets : Canada, Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario, Prairies, and British-Columbia. This correction impacts all the data in these datasets.
