This Feature layer is similar to the "Manitoba Capital Plans Project Status" and will be updated once a year.This dataset contains points showing the locations of the capital projects such as asphalt surface treatment, grading, bituminous rehabilitation, concrete reconstruction, culvert jacking, intersection improvement, structures improvement, traffic signal improvements, and traffic safety improvements. This dataset was created by digitizing high-resolution imagery of Manitoba road network, bridge sites, and culvert locations. The details of the capital projects are available as attributes of the dataset.Fields included (Alias (Field Name): Field description.)Hwy (Hwy): The highway number where the project is located. Location Description (Location_Description): A detailed description of the project location. Project Distance in km (km): The physical length of the project Project Type (Project_Type): A particular category assigned to the project based on the nature of work. Investment Category : (Investment_Category): Category of future investment for the project. (Ex: Renewal, Economic Development, Connectivity and Innovation, Climate Resiliency) Municipality Name (MUNI_NAME): The name of the municipality where the project is located. This is a point shape file representing 2 kilometre incremental distances along each of the 8 NWT highways. These 2km points do not represent the actual location of 2km highway posts found along the sides of the highways. The feature class points are placed every 2 kilometres along a highway and represent the distance from a fixed commencement point, the beginning of that highway.

Highway Planning and Design's 2017 Manitoba Road Network.The 2017 Manitoba Road Network was created by Manitoba Infrastructure --> Highway Engineering--> Highway Planning and Design. The department’s linear referencing system (LRS) uses Control Sections as a linear referencing method (LRM). The LRM is the digital representation of the Highway Network in Manitoba. The features indicate highway number and highway identity. This data was corrected using 1:60,000 digital ortho aerial photography dated from 1991-1998. Linear features have been updated on a yearly basis using GPS data, CAD files and 50cm imagery from 2007-2014, and is considered accurate to two-to-seven metres. Please note that this feature layer primarily contains only the roads that Manitoba Infrastructure is responsible for, i.e. Provincial Trunk Highways, Provincial Roads and Access Roads. However, you may also see Earth Roads (under construction) or Other roads (such as those passing through national parks and are federal responsibility). A newer version of this data is available: Manitoba Road Network 2018. Field List - FIELD NAME (Field Alias (i.e. display name)) in parenthesis)OBJECTID (OBJECTID) - Sequential, unique whole numbers are automatically generated.SHAPE (SHAPE) - A field to hold geometry information. ID (ID) - Unique Identifier generated by Oracle.CS_ID (Control Section ID) - Non unique identifier linking segment to its respective control section.ROAD_NO_SIGNED (Road Number Signed) - The road number. Forestry Resource Roads - 50k
Forest resource roads (FRR) are actively used for accessing forest resources. FRRs are tracked and managed in a road management database. These roads do not represent a complete road network, they should be viewed in conjunction with the Roads -50k - Canvec dataset. Many FRRs are gated with controlled access. There are four categories of roads in the dataset: Forest Resource Roads (act); Forest Resource Access (non-act), Public Access (non-act) and auxiliary roads:- Forest resources road (Act): a road constructed, modified or maintained for the purpose of providing access for forest resources harvesting or management of forest resources that is authorized under subsection 32(1) of the Act, or a road designated as forest resources road under section 73 of the Regulation. These roads were constructed or designated after the Forest Resources Act and Regulation were enacted. - Forest resource access (non-Act): a road constructed, modified or maintained for the purpose of providing access for forest resources harvesting or management of forest resources that is considered a capital investment by the Government of Yukon, Department of Energy, Mines and Resources, Forest Management Branch. These roads were constructed prior to the enactment of the Forest Resources Act. - Public Access (non act): a pre-existing public road. In this road network all Public Access is part of the forest resource access network. - Auxiliary access: a variety of access types that do not conform to the above descriptions and may include: research forest trails, skid trails, heritage trails, trails that access forest resources.
