BC Parks Data API Access
BC Parks data is available through the BC Parks API. The data contains information on provincial parks, conservation areas, and ecological reserves. This includes detailed descriptions of protected areas, available activities, amenities, park status, etc. BC Parks API is an open REST and GraphQL API web service providing access to a centralized compilation of current data related to provincial parks in B.C. The data are accessible via the BC Parks API are licensed under the Open Government License - BC. The API itself is licensed under the API Terms of Use (see related links, API Terms of Use). For more information, please see the [BC Parks API console](https://openapi.apps.gov.bc.ca/?url=https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bcgov/bcparks.ca/main/infrastructure/kong/public-documentation.json) or [GraphQL Playground](https://bcparks.api.gov.bc.ca/graphql).
ParcelMap BC Parcel Fabric
ParcelMap BC is the current, complete and trusted mapped representation of titled and Crown land parcels across British Columbia, considered to be the point of truth for the graphical representation of property boundaries. It is not the authoritative source for the legal property boundary or related records attributes; this will always be the plan of survey or the related registry information. This particular dataset is a subset of the complete ParcelMap BC data and is comprised of the parcel fabric and attributes for over two million parcels published under the Open Government Licence - British Columbia. Notes: 1. Parcel title information is sourced from the BC Land Title Register. Title questions should be directed to a local [Land Title Office](https://ltsa.ca/land-title-office-locations). 2. This dataset replaces the [Integrated Cadastral Fabric](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/7eb82072-8c74-4fce-9934-349b545fdc21).

ParcelMap BC Parcel Polygons
ParcelMap BC is the current, complete and trusted mapped representation of titled and Crown land parcels across British Columbia, considered to be the point of truth for the graphical representation of property boundaries. It is not the authoritative source for the legal property boundary or related records attributes; this will always be the plan of survey or the related registry information. This particular dataset is a subset of the complete ParcelMap BC data and is comprised of the parcel polygons and attributes for over two million parcels published under the Open Government Licence - British Columbia. This dataset does __NOT__ include parcel representations (i.e. distinct polygons with unique PID identifiers) for [Building Strata Parcels](https://help.ltsa.ca/parcelmap-bc/building-strata-parcels) - Building Strata parcels are represented by a single polygon uniquely identified by the Strata Plan Number (i.e. individual strata lot PIDs are not included). For a dataset which includes unique polygon features (stacked geometries) for each Building Strata parcel, please use the [ParcelMap BC Parcel Fabric](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/4cf233c2-f020-4f7a-9b87-1923252fbc24) or [ParcelMap BC Parcel Fabric - Fully Attributed](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/219eebea-b19b-47bd-938f-47d53002a3f4) dataset _or refer to the [ParcelMap BC Shared Geometry Cross Reference Table](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/b918901e-9fd3-4f01-803d-eaeca027b794), which includes the strata lot (PID) to strata plan relationship._ Notes: 1. Parcel title information is sourced from the BC Land Title Register. Title questions should be directed to a local [Land Title Office](https://ltsa.ca/land-title-office-locations). 2. The ParcelMap BC Parcel Fabric is expected to eventually replace the [Integrated Cadastral Fabric](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/7eb82072-8c74-4fce-9934-349b545fdc21).
Service BC Office Locations
The Service BC Office Locations is comprised of all Service BC locations in the province. These offices provide front line support for many of the hundreds of programs and services the provincial government offers to residents, businesses and visitors.
Local Government Offices
Local Government Offices is a point dataset identifying local government offices in British Columbia.
shíshálh Nation - Legally Defined Administrative Areas of BC
The __shíshálh Nation__ contains legally defined areas of land within the Province of British Columbia over which the shíshálh Nation exercises self-government, including the administration of resources and services available to its members, as described in the shíshálh Nation Self-Government Act of 1986. This spatial layer contains multipart features. Note that the name of the spatial layer is outdated; after the notification of retirement of the layer has been circulated the dataset will be recreated with the correct name. The source data for the geometry of the parcels was the federal "GeoBase - Aboriginal Lands" dataset, available under OGL - Canada. Parcels were adjusted to match provincial base mapping features, following the metes and bounds descriptions in the Letters Patent. A polygon dataset that includes all of the administrative areas currently in the __Administrative Boundaries Management System (ABMS)__ is available [here](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/legally-defined-administrative-areas-of-bc). A complimentary point dataset that defines the administrative areas is also available [here](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/legally-defined-administrative-areas-of-bc-boundary-locations). The shíshálh Nation Government District Enabling Act, [RSBC 1996] CHAPTER 416 is available [here.](http://www.bclaws.ca/civix/document/id/complete/statreg/96416_01) Other individual datasets are available from the following records: https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/province-of-british-columbia-legally-defined-administrative-areas-of-bc https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/municipalities-legally-defined-administrative-areas-of-bc https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/regional-districts-legally-defined-administrative-areas-of-bc https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/electoral-areas-legally-defined-administrative-areas-of-bc https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/islands-trust-legally-defined-administrative-areas-of-bc https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/local-trust-areas-legally-defined-administrative-areas-of-bc
Sites Registry (Open Government Licence)
This dataset is a subset of the Sites Registry dataset. The Sites Registry is a collection of locations that are important to government carrying out its business, including sharing information with citizens. Most locations have civic addresses and are government offices or facilities, e.g. hospitals, schools, post-secondary institutions, court houses, tourism centres. It is comprised of all sites licensed under the Open Government Licence – British Columbia. For more information see the [Sites Registry](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/5476ee87-0f59-4614-abf0-e653b4702aeb) catalogue record.
LiDAR
__LiDAR__ (__Li__ght __D__etection __A__nd __R__anging) is a modern survey method that produces three-dimensional spatial information in the form of a data point cloud. LiDAR is an active remote sensing system; it produces its own energy to acquire information, versus passive systems, like cameras, that only receive energy. LiDAR systems are made up of a scanner, which is a laser transmitter and receiver; a GNSS (GPS) receiver; and an inertial navigation system (INS). These instruments are mounted to an aircraft. The laser scanner transmits near-infrared light to the ground. The light reflects off the ground and returns to the scanner. The scanner measures the time interval and intensity of the reflected signals. This information is integrated with the positional information provided by the GNSS and INS to create a three-dimensional point cloud representing the surface. A LiDAR system can record millions of points per second, resulting in high spatial resolution, which allows for differentiation of many fine terrain features. Point clouds collected with LiDAR can be used to create three-dimensional representations of the Earth’s surface, such as Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and Digital Surface Models (DSMs). DEMs model the elevation of the ground without objects on the surface, and DSMs model ground elevations as well as surface objects such as trees and buildings. LidarBC's **Open LiDAR Data Portal** (see link under Resources) is an initiative to provide **open** public access to LiDAR and associated datasets collected by the Government of British Columbia. The data in the portal is released as Open Data under the [**Open Government Licence – British Columbia**](https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/data/open-data/open-government-licence-bc) (OGL-BC). Four Government of British Columbia business areas and one department of the Government of Canada make LiDAR data available through the portal: * [**GeoBC**](https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/data/about-data-management/geobc) * [**Emergency Management and Climate Readiness**](https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/emergency-management) (EMCR) * [**BC Timber Sales**](https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/industry/forestry/bc-timber-sales) (BCTS) * [**Forest Analysis and Inventory Branch**](https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/industry/forestry/managing-our-forest-resources/forest-inventory) (FAIB) * [**Natural Resources Canada**](https://www.nrcan.gc.ca/home) (NRCan) GeoBC is the provincial branch that oversees and manages LidarBC’s Open LiDAR Data Portal, including storage, distribution, maintenance, and updates.
