Subsidized murals
For several years, the City of Montreal has supported the creation of exterior murals that are visible, creative and linked to their context. Through various programs, unified since 2016 under the Mural Art Program, the City has supported the creation of hundreds of murals. DNRED has archived images of wall maps that represent pest management treatment plans from 1952-1993. The level of detail of the maps varies greatly over the 40 years of records. Typically, these maps are at a scale of 1:500,000 where 1 centimeter represents 5 kilometers on the ground. The archived treatment plans outline the broad application blocks. Considerable effort was made to digitize these maps in a more accessible format by DNRED and NRCan-CFS. Images were ground referenced and individual treatment polygons were outlined for all years from 1952-1993 so that they could be used in modern geographic information systems. Bedrock geology index map
The Bedrock Index provides a spatial record of the location of all Bedrock maps published by the Geological Survey of Canada and hosted on Geoscan. The index has three "series" of maps; CGM, A series, and preliminary maps. In cases where there have been multiple editions of a map, the most recent record is reported in the Bedrock Index attribute table. Maps published in Open File documents are not recorded in the bedrock index. The "A" series maps were produced from 1909 to 2010 and have been replaced by the CGM (Canadian Geoscience Maps) series. CGM maps began production in 2010 and are still being published. Preliminary maps were published from 1941 to 2021.
Terrestrial Ecosystem Information Scanned Map Boundary
STE_SCANNED_MAP_BOUNDARY_SP includes an index of the mapsheet grid location of Soils, Terrain, Ecosystems and related scanned maps (including Agriculture Capability and Climate Capability maps). These maps are intended for on-screen viewing or printing. The majority of the maps have been geo-referenced. Mapping may not cover the whole map grid area. Some maps are interim or draft and may have been superseded. Some files are of related legends and map project text. Associated scanned map boundary attributes describe the project map (project level metadata) and provide a link for downloading the map, plus links to related reports, geo-referenced maps, and GIS digital data available from other sources. ATTENTION - The IMAGE_URL link is only useable by BC government staff. Public users can download the scanned maps by using the ECOCAT_URL link. There is no charge for the scanned map files.
