Surficial Geology Map Index
The Yukon GeologicalSurvey (YGS) has compiled over 195 surficial geology maps into a standardizedGIS format, providing approximately 80% coverage of the territory. The mapsrange in scales from 1:250,000 to 1:10,000 with spatial overlap between scales.The original maps were produced by various agencies, including the GeologicalSurvey of Canada, YGS, Yukon Government, universities, and the City ofWhitehorse.All original featuredescriptions have been preserved and also converted to standardized valuesusing the Yukon terrain classification system. The compilation includes 4 GISdatasets and supporting documents available for download via [YGS integrated data system](https://data.geology.gov.yk.ca/Compilation/33#InfoTab) (YGSIDS) or GeoYukon. A .lyr file is [provided](https://data.geology.gov.yk.ca/Compilation/33#InfoTab) to symbolize feature classes and differentiate overlapping maps atdifferent scales. Additionally, there is a surficial geology map index.The polygonattributes captured include surficial material, texture, age, surfaceexpression, and geomorphological processes.Line featuresinclude geological contacts, glacial limits, glacial landforms (cirques,arêtes, eskers, meltwater channels, moraines), and non-glacial landforms(faults, lineaments, landslides, escarpments).Point featuresinclude field station, fossil and sample locations, glacial landforms(erratics, kames, kettles, drumlins, flutings), permafrost features (pingos,palsas, patterned ground, thermokarst depressions), and other non-glaciallandforms (landslides, tors).The map indexprovides information on each map publication such as author, map title, mapscale, publisher.These data arevaluable for land-use applications in the territory, including: mineral andplacer exploration, geotechnical engineering, infrastructure planning, granularresource assessments, permafrost modeling, agricultural assessments, forestmanagement, and biophysical or ecological land classification.Distributed from GeoYukon by the Government of Yukon. Bedrock map index
A Yukon-wide compilation of map footprints and associated citation data for 191 published bedrock geology maps that were incorporated into the Yukon bedrock geology compilation. The maps were originally produced by the GSC, YGS, Yukon Government and various universities at various scales ranging from 1:10,000 to 1:500,000. Indexes of the National Topographic System of Canada
Topographic maps produced by Natural Resources Canada conform to the National Topographic System (NTS) of Canada. Indexes are available in three standard scales: 1:1,000,000, 1:250,000 and 1:50,000. The area covered by a given mapsheet is determined by its latitude and longitude. 1:1,000,000 mapsheets are identified by a combination of three numbers (e.g. 098). 1:250,000 mapsheets are identified by a combination of numbers, and letters ranging from A through P (e.g. 098C). Sixteen smaller segments (1 to 16) form blocks used for 1:50,000 mapping (e.g. 098C03).
“Montreal by foot” basemap
This data set presents the basemap developed as part of the Montreal by Foot (MàP) project in a web tiled map service (_Web Tile Map Service_ WTMS). It is made available in order to allow citizens and partners of the City to create web mapping tools by offering a unique graphic charter, designed specifically to promote pedestrian travel.The Montréal à Pied project aims to improve orientation and pedestrian paths throughout Montreal. The selection and classification of places of interest prioritize pedestrian and local travel. This project includes a cartographic component intended to renew the graphic signature of the representation of the City of Montreal, on digital media and on urban furniture receiving maps of the City. The basemap is intended in particular to support the representation of data [Places of interest] (places of interest) also developed under the MàP project and available as open data.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
Terrestrial Ecosystem Information Scanned Map Boundary
STE_SCANNED_MAP_BOUNDARY_SP includes an index of the mapsheet grid location of Soils, Terrain, Ecosystems and related scanned maps (including Agriculture Capability and Climate Capability maps). These maps are intended for on-screen viewing or printing. The majority of the maps have been geo-referenced. Mapping may not cover the whole map grid area. Some maps are interim or draft and may have been superseded. Some files are of related legends and map project text. Associated scanned map boundary attributes describe the project map (project level metadata) and provide a link for downloading the map, plus links to related reports, geo-referenced maps, and GIS digital data available from other sources. ATTENTION - The IMAGE_URL link is only useable by BC government staff. Public users can download the scanned maps by using the ECOCAT_URL link. There is no charge for the scanned map files. Please note that some maps and more recent mapping may also be available in digital GIS format. See - Ecosystem and Terrain Mapping Data Inventory.
