Canadian Geographical Names - CGN
The Canadian Geographical Names Data Base (CGNDB) is the authoritative national database of Canada's geographical names. The purpose of the CGNDB is to store place names and their attributes that have been approved by the Geographical Names Board of Canada (GNBC), the national coordinating body responsible for standards and policies on place names. The CGNDB is maintained by Natural Resources Canada, through the Canada Centre for Mapping and Earth Observation. The geographic extent of the CGNDB is the Canadian landmass and water bodies; the temporal extent is from 1897 to present. This dataset is extracted from the CGNDB on a weekly basis, and consists of current officially approved names, feature type, coordinates of the feature, decision date, source, and other attributes. The output file formats for this product are: text (CSV), Shape (SHP), and Keyhole Markup Language (KML).Content advisory: The Canadian Geographical Names Database contains historical terminology that is considered racist, offensive and derogatory. Geographical naming authorities are in the process of addressing many offensive place names, but the work is still ongoing. For more information, please contact the GNBC Secretariat.
Ministry of Transportation (MOT) Culverts
A Culvert is a pipe (less than 3m in diameter) or half-round flume used to transport or drain water under or away from the road and/or right of way. Culverts that are greater than or equal to 3m in diameter are stored in the MoT Bridge Structure Road Dataset. It is a Point feature
Federal Electoral Districts - Canada 2015
A federal electoral district is an area represented by a member of the House of Commons. The Federal Electoral Districts (FED) dataset is a digital representation of the 338 electoral districts proclaimed by the Representation Order of 2013. This dataset is an update of the 2013 Federal Electoral Districts (FED) 2013.
Federal Electoral Districts - Canada 2019
A federal electoral district is an area represented by a member of the House of Commons. The Federal Electoral Districts (FED) dataset is a digital representation of the 338 electoral districts proclaimed by the Representation Order of 2013. This dataset is an update of the 2013 Federal Electoral Districts (FED) 2013.
Canada Geological Map Compilation
The Canada Geological Map Compilation (CGMC) is a database of previously published bedrock geological maps sourced from provincial, territorial, and other geological survey organizations. The geoscientific information included within these source geological maps wasstandardized, translated to English, and combined to provide complete coverage of Canada and support a range of down-stream machine learning applications. Detailed lithological, mineralogical, metamorphic, lithostratigraphic, and lithodemic information was not previously available as onenational-scale product. The source map data was also enhanced by correcting geometry errors and through the application of a new hierarchical generalized lithology classification scheme to subdivide the original rocks types into 35 classes. Each generalized lithology is associated with asemi-quantitative measure of classification uncertainty. Lithostratigraphic and lithodemic names included within the source maps were matched with the Lexicon of Canadian Geological Names (Weblex) wherever possible and natural language processing was used to transform all of the available text-basedinformation into word tokens. Overlapping map polygons and boundary artifacts across political boundaries were not addressed as part of this study. As a result, the CGMC is a patchwork of overlapping bedrock geological maps with varying scale (1:30,000-1:5,000,000), publication year (1996-2023), andreliability. Preferred geological and geochronological maps of Canada are presented as geospatial rasters based on the best available geoscientific information extracted from these overlapping polygons for each map pixel. New higher resolution geological maps will be added over time to fill datagaps and to update geoscientific information for future applications of the CGMC.
FADM - Tree Farm License (TFL) Addition
The spatial representation for a Tree Farm Licence Addition, which is forest land designated by the Ministry to be added to an established Tree Farm Licence Schedule A or B For further information on Tree Farm Licenses please visit this website: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content?id=A93E6DFD8C164AD19CD17880450289A3
Ministry of Transportation (MOT) Sign
A Sign is a lettered board, message or other display which includes all regulatory, warning, guide, informational, advisory, construction and maintenance and route markers, but excluding electronically controlled messages/displays. It is a Point feature
FADM - Public Sustained Yield Units
The spatial representation for a Public Sustained Yield Unit, which is an area of Crown land, usually a natural topographic unit determined by drainage areas, managed for sustained yield by the Crown through the Ministry of Forests. It includes all Crown lands within the currently established boundaries of the unit and excludes federal lands, provincial parks, experimental forest reserves, gazetted watersheds and tree farm licences. Crown land designated as a public sustained yield unit under Section 6 of the Forest Act. A portion of a TSA
Registered Flu and COVID Providers 1
Registered vaccine distribution locations for the Flu and COVID-19 season that will appear on the Vaccine Provider App.
Regional Districts - Legally Defined Administrative Areas of BC
Legally defined __Regional District__ polygons were drawn from metes and bounds descriptions as written in Letters Patent for Regional Districts in the province of British Columbia. In the event of a discrepancy in the data, the metes and bounds description will prevail. Although the boundaries were drawn based on the legal metes and bounds descriptions, they may differ from how regional districts and their member municipalities and electoral areas currently view and/or manage their boundaries. Where discrepancies are noted, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs (the custodian) enters into discussion with the local governments whose boundaries are affected. In order to effect a change to the boundary, Cabinet approval is required. This is done through an Order in Council (OIC). While discrepancies to administrative boundaries are being resolved, boundaries may be adjusted on an ongoing basis until the requested changes are completed. The OIC_YEAR and OIC_NUMBER fields indicate the year that the boundary was passed under OIC and its associated number. The AFFECTED_ADMIN_AREA_ABRVN identifies the administrative areas that are affected by the OIC. Please note that the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality appears to be a gap in the Regional District layer, but it is a municipality and can be found in the [Municipalities Layer](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/municipalities-legally-defined-administrative-areas-of-bc). A polygon dataset that includes all of the administrative areas currently in the __Administrative Boundaries Management System (ABMS)__ is available [here](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/legally-defined-administrative-areas-of-bc). A complimentary point dataset that defines the administrative areas is also available available [here](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/legally-defined-administrative-areas-of-bc-boundary-locations).
