Groundwater Wells
Point features showing the location of groundwater wells in BC joined with attributes and information from the Groundwater Wells and Aquifers (GWELLS) application. NOTE: Artesian wells are flowing wells at the time of drilling. Suggested Filters: - Groundwater Supply Wells - Intended Water Use: WELL_CLASS = 'Water Supply' - Provincial Observation Wells: OBSERVATION_WELL_STATUS = 'Active' OR OBSERVATION_WELL_STATUS = 'Inactive'
Hydrogeological Information System (HIS)
The Hydrogeological Information System (HIS) contains the physical characteristics of wells and boreholes (location, depth, stratigraphy encountered, etc.) mainly from drilling reports transmitted by well drillers for groundwater sampling installations serving private drinking water residences. The geographic coverage corresponds to all of Quebec although most of the data are found in the south of the province. A monthly update is made.SIH data can be useful for hydrogeology professionals, the academic community and a wider audience in order to make interpretations on portions of territory, for example on the depth of the rock in a sector, or to consult more precise points of information such as the description of a specific identified well.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
Lithology of Ground Water Wells
Point features showing the locations of groundwater wells which have lithology recorded. Each record in the dataset represents a lithology interval. Because each water well often has multiple lithology layers recorded, there will often be multiple points overlapped at each well location. For the locations of all water wells in BC (without lithology), please see: https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/e4731a85-ffca-4112-8caf-cb0a96905778 > NOTE: When choosing to download this GIS dataset below, there can be errors when trying to download the entire province. The large file size is a problem for the default file format (shapefile). > If you need to download the entire province, please choose a different file format (e.g. ESRI File Geodatabase). > If you need to download in shapefile format, please use an area of interest (AOI).
Groundwater Wells Pumping Tests and Aquifer Parameters
Point features showing the locations of groundwater wells with pumping test information and/or aquifer parameter data. Some wells may have more than one pumping test record. Further context regarding the pumping tests and analysis are provided with the well records in GWELLS (https://apps.nrs.gov.bc.ca/gwells/).
Petroleum wells
The locations of wells that have been drilled for oil production, gas or salt resources or for underground storage of hydrocarbons. This data can be used for land use and resource management, emergency management, as well as compliance and enforcement in the petroleum industry. The Data is collected on an on-going basis and maintained in the Ontario Petroleum Data System (OPDS).
Water wells
The well registry is a collection of records, including drilling logs and report documents, maintained by Yukon Government. These records provide information on the well construction details and subsurface conditions encountered at the time of drilling. Although some information in the dataset may be edited over time, the primary purpose is to document the original drilling conditions and not to provide an updated status of the well. There is no current overarching requirement for drillers or owners to submit well logs, therefore many have been provided on a voluntary basis. Therefore, this should not be expected to be a complete list of all wells across the territory. The water well dataset contains records obtained through the domestic water well program, voluntary submissions, and regulatory processes (licenses and permits). No identifiable personal information will be used or available on the public database. Canada groundwater wells, integrated national, provincial and territorial dataset
This layer comprises all the available water wells in GIN (Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador) and published through the open data platforms. This layer is a combination of all individual provincial and territorial layers. The original databases are dynamically converted by an automatic process managed by Natural Resources Canada (Groundwater Information Network).
