Long Term Water Chemistry
Digitization of long-term water chemistry data collected between 1920's - 1990's from lakes across Saskatchewan by the Saskatchewan Fisheries Research Laboratory. Samples were collected using methods from the Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater (APHA, AWWA and WPCF). This data serves as a baseline for water quality.This dataset is a digitization from paper records of water chemistry data across Saskatchewan collected by the Saskatchewan Fisheries Research Laboratory. Data ranges from the 1920's to the 1990's and were sampled using methodes from the Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater (American Public Health Association, American Water Works Association and Water Pollution Control Facility) This long-term water chemistry data serves as a baseline for water quality. Different variables of water chemistry are organized into individual fields. The units of measurement appear at the end of each field name. Networks and Studies
Air Monitoring Networks and Studies produce data that represent a wide variety of observations and measurements. Multiple data types (also called collections) can be produced by a single network and data collections can have contributions from multiple networks. The data are organised as follows: 1. Atmospheric Gases, 2. Atmospheric Particles, 3. Atmospheric Precipitation Chemistry, 4. Combined Atmospheric Gases and Particles 5. Special Studies of Atmospheric Gases, Particles and Precipitation Chemistry Networks and Studies contributing to the Canadian National Atmospheric Chemistry Database and Analysis system (NAtChem) are from Canadian federal and provincial networks (past and present) and also include U.S. historical networks (these data are not available elsewhere). Information about these contributing networks, for each of these collection and product groups, can be found in each network's description documentation.
Benthic substrates of the Saguenay fjord, the St. Lawrence lower estuary and Gulf
Description of the submarine morphology and characteristics of the sediments (lithology, grain size, mineralogy, and chemistry) of the Saguenay fjord, the lower Estuary and Gulf of St. Lawrence.The layer contains a synthesis of geological and geochemical data collected and interpreted over 10 years and is accompanied by detailed bathymetric and surface sediment maps. Most of this study deals with the geomorphology, surface sediments (lithology, mineralogy, and chemistry), and present depositional conditions, but several studies have also been made of the bedrock geology and the stratigraphy of the unconsolidated sediments.PurposeThese studies are regional and of a reconnaissance nature in the sense that they have been designed to obtain acoustical and sampling data on the morphology and basic properties of the sediments from the whole Gulf. This approach was used to provide a broad appraisal of the sedimentary environment of the Gulf and its late-glacial and postglacial history.Additional InformationUnknown date of numeric version.Acoustical and sampling data were obtained in the River and Gulf of St. Lawrence on board of different boats over the years. Sounding lines and sample stations were selected initially on the basis of submarine morphology and later in combination with a preliminary sedimentological map as the sea floor data accumulated.More specifically, acoustical data on the topography and nature of the sea floor was obtained from echosounding and continuous seismic profiling. Sounding records were studied, interpreted, and reduced manually in most cases to a scale suitable for plotting and presentation. The information on the continuous seismic records was first interpreted visually and the reduced to constant scale with the aid of a pantograph with independently vertical and horizontal scales.Also, about 1500 sediments samples have been collected from various parts of the Gulf to obtain a regional coverage of the sedimentary environment in the area. The sediment sample were sorted and split after their water content had been determined. Mineralogical analyses were carried out after separation into a heavy and light fraction. The light minerals were identified by a combined method of staining and the use of immersion liquids. For more details on consulted documents and their limit, see the following report:Loring, D. Bay Scale Assessment of Nearshore Habitat Bras d'Or Lake - Malagawash 2007 - 2008
Bay Scale Assessment of Nearshore Habitat Bras dOr Lake - Malagawash 2007 2008 data is part of the publication Bay Scale Assessment of Nearshore Habitat Bras d'Or Lakes. A history of nearshore benthic surveys of Bras d’Or Lake from 2005 – 2011 is presented. Early work utilized drop camera and fixed mount sidescan. The next phase was one of towfish development, where camera and sidescan were placed on one platform with transponder-based positioning. From 2009 to 2011 the new towfish was used to ground truth an echosounder. The surveys were performed primarily in the northern half of the lake; from 10 m depth right into the shallows at less than 1 m. Different shorelines could be distinguished from others based upon the relative proportions of substrate types and macrophyte canopy. The vast majority of macrophytes occurred within the first 3 m of depth. This zone was dominated by a thin but consistent cover of eelgrass (Zostera marina L.) on almost all shores with a current or wave regime conducive to the growth of this plant. However, the eelgrass beds were frequently in poor shape and the negative impacts of commonly occurring water column turbidity, siltation, or possible localized eutrophication, are suspected. All survey data were placed into a Geographic Information System, and this document is a guide to that package. The Geographic Information System could be used to answer management questions such as the placement and character of habitat compensation projects, the selection of nearshore protected areas or as a baseline to determine long term changes.Vandermeulen, H. 2016. MTA - Mineral Mining Divisions with Codes
Administrative boundaries called mining divisions were once used for recording claims. This information is now historic. This dataset contains the codes for each of the 24 mining division. For example, 1=ALBERNI, 2=ATLIN, 3=CARIBOO, 4=CLINTON, 5=FORT STEELE. These boundaries are no longer used for current administration. Mining division is needed when submitting the title page for your Technical Work Report. They can also be used to reference historical records.

The data is from the data table Mother Tongue (10), Age (27) and Sex (3) for the Population of Canada, Provinces and Territories, Census Divisions and Census Subdivisions, 2016 Census - 100% Data, Statistics Canada Catalogue no. 98-400-X2016046.Mother tongue refers to the first language learned at home in childhood and still understood by the person at the time the data was collected. If the person no longer understands the first language learned, the mother tongue is the second language learned. For a person who learned two languages at the same time in early childhood, the mother tongue is the language this person spoke most often at home before starting school. The person has two mother tongues only if the two languages were used equally often and are still understood by the person. For a child who has not yet learned to speak, the mother tongue is the language spoken most often to this child at home. The child has two mother tongues only if both languages are spoken equally often so that the child learns both languages at the same time.For additional information refer to the 2016 Census Dictionary for 'Mother tongue'.To have a cartographic representation of the ecumene with this socio-economic indicator, it is recommended to add as the first layer, the “NRCan - 2016 population ecumene by census division” web service, accessible in the data resources section below.

Pelagic Shark Satellite Tag data - White Shark
The white shark (Carcharodon carcharias), is a species found in Atlantic Canadian waters which is encountered in commercial and recreational fisheries. Pop-up Satellite Archival Tags (PSAT) from Wildlife Computers were applied to white sharks from 2016 to the present to collect data on depth (pressure), temperature and ambient light level (for position estimation). Deployments were conducted in Canada and the United States (Cape Cod and South Carolina) on scientific charters, typically in summer. Tag models deployed included: Mk10 (N=1), and MiniPAT (N=29) and 22 of 27 tags reported with 3 still at liberty. One individual shark returned to the location of tagging 1 year later and the physical tag was recovered. Another tag was recovered 5 years after deployment. White sharks tagged ranged in size from 259 cm to 459 cm Total Length (curved) estimated; 15 were female, 13 were male, and 2 were of unknown sex. Time at liberty ranged from 48 – 377 days and to date, only 3 tags remained on the shark for the programmed duration. Tagging of white sharks is an ongoing study and data will be updated here when it becomes available. Raw data transmitted from the PSAT’s after release was processed through Wildlife Computers software (GPE3) to get summary files, assuming a maximum swimming speed of 2m/s, NOAA OI SST V2 High Resolution data set for SST reference and ETOPO1-Bedrock dataset for bathymetry reference. The maximum likelihood position estimates are available in .csv and .kmz format and depth and temperature profiles are also in .csv format.
