Freshwater Atlas - Watershed Groups
Polygons delimiting the watershed group boundary, which is a collections of drainage areas. In-land groups will contain a single polygon, coastal groups may contain multiple polygons (one for each island)
Networks and Studies
Air Monitoring Networks and Studies produce data that represent a wide variety of observations and measurements. Multiple data types (also called collections) can be produced by a single network and data collections can have contributions from multiple networks. The data are organised as follows: 1. Atmospheric Gases, 2. Atmospheric Particles, 3. Atmospheric Precipitation Chemistry, 4. Combined Atmospheric Gases and Particles 5. Special Studies of Atmospheric Gases, Particles and Precipitation Chemistry Networks and Studies contributing to the Canadian National Atmospheric Chemistry Database and Analysis system (NAtChem) are from Canadian federal and provincial networks (past and present) and also include U.S. historical networks (these data are not available elsewhere). Information about these contributing networks, for each of these collection and product groups, can be found in each network's description documentation.
Collections of age estimation structures from marine taxa in the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence
PURPOSE:Support age-structured population stock assessments and research on fish growth.DESCRIPTION:Fish otoliths are collected from scientific surveys, fisheries observers on fishing vessels and from scientific sampling of commercial fisheries. The otoliths collected are placed in paper envelopes, recorded and held in a climate-controlled storage facility. Atlantic herring otoliths are mounted and glued to acrylic trays. Age determination is performed yearly on available samples. Digital images of each pair of otoliths collected are captured when possible. The information made available through this metadata record is the summary of otoliths present in the collection at the Gulf Fisheries Centre in Moncton, NB, Canada. The number of otoliths available from different sources by year and month is provided for the following stocks:- Atlantic Cod, NAFO Divisions 4T / 4VN (Nov. to Apr.)- White Hake, NAFO Division 4T - American Plaice, NAFO Division 4T - Winter Flounder, NAFO Division 4T - Yellowtail Flounder, NAFO Division 4T - Witch Flounder, NAFO Divisions 4RST - Atlantic Herring, NAFO Division 4T - Skate species, NAFO Division 4T There is additional information of observed sex, length, weight and age information of fish specimens made by trained Fisheries and Oceans Canada technicians that can be made available upon request. PARAMETERS COLLECTED:length (biological), age (biological)NOTES ON QUALITY CONTROL:Reference collections for certain species exist and are used to train technicians and to calibrate the age readings obtained by the fisheries technicians that use the otoliths for age estimation. Digital images of the otoliths that are part of the reference collection are available and used for calibration and training purposes. The otolith images are also authoritatively annotated by fisheries technicians.PHYSICAL SAMPLE DETAILS:Fish otoliths, skate vertebraeSAMPLING METHODS:Marine fish otoliths are obtained from fish specimens collected during research surveys and during scientific sampling of commercial fisheries. The sagittal otoliths are removed from sampled specimens, recorded, placed in a protective medium and held in a climate-controlled storage facility. Digital images of each pair of otoliths collected are captured when possible.USE LIMITATION:To ensure scientific integrity and appropriate use of the data, we would encourage you to contact the data custodian.
Rock Properties
This compilation sources data primarily from the Yukon Geological Survey’s (YGS) field projects and archival collections, and from the Geological Survey of Canada’s (GSC) Canadian rock physical property database (Enkin, 2014, 2018). The data distribution is far from uniform but covers a range of lithology classes and terranes. The compilation of data from archival samples is ongoing, and the dataset will continue to grow as new samples are collected for YGS projects and pass through the survey’s physical properties lab.The foundation of this dataset originates from samples collected for a mapping project in western Yukon led by Dirk Tempelman-Kluit from 1970 to 1972 (Tempelman-Kluit and Curie, 1978) and subsequently digitized by the Geological Survey of Canada and Mira Geoscience (2014). This dataset alone contributed 1642 records to the compilation. Map unit names from this original dataset were modernized for this compilation to reflect current understanding of Yukon geology.Systematic measurements of magnetic susceptibility and specific gravity have been incorporated into the workflow when archiving rock samples from YGS projects. Additional magnetic susceptibility measurements are also routinely collected in the field by YGS geologists. This will continue to expand the dataset. Rock samples are not collected specifically for the physical properties dataset but are well characterized and have sufficient metadata to be incorporated into the dataset. Samples are not uniform in size or weight. The Yukon Geological Survey’s HS Bostock Core Library houses >10 000 Yukon rock samples from previous and ongoing geological studies. Archived collections provide a great opportunity to further expand the dataset in specific regions or areas lacking representation.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps). Historic silviculture inventory - 50k
These are the boundaries of disturbance area that underwent forest management activities and are monitored to determine if reforestation obligations were achieved. Openings were derived from forest cover surveys, GPS field data collections, and satellite imagery. This database is the most current information available, but will be updated as new information is added.HARVEST_START - This is the date that harvesting started in the opening.REGEN_MET - This is the date that regeneration was determined to be present in the opening.FG_MET - This is the date that a free growing status was determined to be present in the opening.RELIEVED_OF_OBLIGATION - This is the date that the opening was determined to be returning to a forested area, was relieved of any further Silviculture obligations to reforest, and returned to the forest inventory.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Orthoimages of Canada, 1999-2003
This collection is a legacy product that is no longer supported. It may not meet current government standards. This inventory presents chronologically the satellite images acquired, orthorectified and published over time by Natural Resources Canada. It is composed of imagery from the Landsat7 (1999-2003) and RADARSAT-1 (2001-2002) satellites, as well as the CanImage by-product and the control points used to process the images.Landsat7 Orthorectified Imagery: The orthoimage dataset is a complete set of cloud-free (less than 10%) orthoimages covering the Canadian landmass and created with the most accurate control data available at the time of creation.RADARSAT-1 Orthorectified Imagery: The 5 RADARSAT-1 images (processed and distributed by RADARSAT International (RSI) complete the landsat 7 orthoimagery coverage. They are stored as raster data produced from SAR Standard 7 (S7) beam mode with a pixel size of 15 m. They have been produced in accordance with NAD83 (North American Datum of 1983) using the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) projection. RADARSAT-1 orthoimagery were produced with the 1:250 000 Canadian Digital Elevation Data (CDED) and photogrammetric control points generated from the Aerial Survey Data Base (ASDB).CanImage -Landsat7 Orthoimages of Canada,1:50 000: CanImage is a raster image containing information from Landsat7 orthoimages that have been resampled and based on the National Topographic System (NTS) at the 1:50 000 scale in the UTM projection. The product is distributed in datasets in GeoTIFF format. The resolution of this product is 15 metres.Landsat7 Imagery Control Points: the control points were used for the geometric correction of Landsat7 satellite imagery. They can also be used to correct vector data and for simultaneously displaying data from several sources prepared at different scales or resolutions.
