Conservation Lands spatial and attribute data. This includes related information on various types/classes of land secured for fish, wildlife and habitat conservation purposes. It includes Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) designated by Order in Council (OIC). Source data are from Tantalis as well as the derived product from GeoBC. Overlap between this dataset and the [__NGO Conservation Areas - Fee Simple__](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/ngo-conservation-areas-fee-simple) dataset will occur where NGO lands have been leased to the province. Discrepancies between the provincial layers and this dataset are due to differing source cadastral information. A [__Conservation Cross Reference Table__](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/db6d4e9d-aa20-4682-9e43-ad6ae52f4466) provides a link between this dataset and the NGO Conservation Areas – Fee Simple dataset. The CIP_PCL field in the NGO Conservation Areas dataset links to the Conservation_Land_ID field in the provincial Conservation Lands dataset.

Since 1988, the governments of Canada and Quebec have been working together to conserve, restore, protect and develop the St. Lawrence River under the St. Lawrence Action Plan (SLAP). One of the projects identified under the theme of biodiversity conservation is the development of an integrated plan for the conservation of the natural environments and biodiversity of the St. Lawrence River.The identification of priority sites for conservation has been the first step of this planning exercise. Conservation planning of natural environments requires a reliable, accurate and up-to-date image of the spatial distribution of ecosystems in the study area. In order to produce an Atlas of Priority Sites for Conservation in the St. Lawrence Lowlands, an updated cartography of the land cover of this vast territory was undertaken.This project required obtaining reliable information on the natural environments of the St. Lawrence Lowlands. Although several land cover mapping projects have been conducted for specific types of habitats, it was particularly important to obtain a homogeneous product that would cover the entire territory and that would provide the most detailed information on its various thematic components: agricultural, aquatic, human-modified and forest environments, wetlands as well as old fields and bare ground. The methodology used to produce the land cover mapping of the St. Lawrence Lowlands thus relied mainly on combining and enhancing the best existing products for each theme. This project was made in collaboration with MDDELCC as part of the St. Lawrence Action Plan (SLAP).

This dataset is a combination of landscape unit, biogeoclimatic zone/subzone/variants and Cariboo Chilcotin Land Use Plan (CCLUP) leading group type (PineGroup or FirGroup) used to roll up seral stage assessments in the Cariboo Natural Resource Region. This dataset is a spatial representation of the boundary for the Kananaskis Conservation Pass for which a written legal description will be created. Visit alberta.ca/ConservationPass or albertaparks.ca for more information about the Kananaskis Conservation Pass, including a map. The pass will be in effect for both parks and public land within this boundary, pending Bill 64, the Public Lands Amendment Act passing in the legislature. The area includes Parks, Recreation Areas, Public Land, and the Public Land Use Zone (PLUZ). It excludes the McLean Creek P.R.A., Fisher Creek P.R.A., and the McLean Off-highway Vehicle Use Zone. The Public Lands Camping Pass for random camping on the Eastern Slopes does not apply to public land in the Kananaskis Conservation Pass area.

Habitat Protection and management are the primary focus of the Fish and Wildlife Development fund. This data includes lands used for management of habitat within the Province.Saskatchewan Environment's Fish and Wildlife Development Fund Lands (FWDF) derived from ISC's (1:20,000) surface layer.As anglers, hunters and trappers in Saskatchewan, you recognize that healthy and diverse wildlife populations are an indication of a healthy ecosystem. Your responsible conservation ethic and love of nature are making positive and vital contributions to the management and preservation of wildlife and wildlife habitat. The revenue (30 per cent) from all fur, angling and hunting licences you purchase, is used to manage, preserve and enhance fish and wildlife habitat.The fund has identified three fish and wildlife management goals:-Maintain natural habitat through conservation, biodiversity, land management and awareness of rare species.-Maintain and grow sustainable fish populations and their habitat.-Maintain game populations and ensure accessible hunting.

Crown Conservation Easements in Saskatchewan administered by Fish, Wildlife & Lands Branch of the Ministry of Environment.This dataset represents all Crown Conservation Easements registered with the Ministry of Environment. Section 11.4 of the Conservation Easements Act gives specific directions with respect to interests on title and registration of a CCE. To be in effect a copy of an executed CCE must be provided to the Ministry. Receipt of this document is recorded in this Fish, Wildlife and Lands Branch database and an Agreement number is assigned sequentially. An interest, based on the CCE, must also be registered with Information Services Corporation (ISC). Currently these two datasets are not reconciled. Technical Details: Crown Conservation Easements are meant to protect wildlife habitat and ecological values on private titled lands in the Province. Crown Conservation Easements are registered as a condition of sale, on all Crown Wildlife Habitat Protection Act lands that are assessed as having Moderate ecological values. A CCE is registered to a numbered parcel. It is this parcel identification that is reflected in this spatial dataset. The Agreement Number is included which identifies the filing number under which detailed information can be found in digital and hardcopy within the Fish, Wildlife & Lands Branch of the Ministry of Environment.

A digital record of all Conservation Easements kept for planning purposes.This dataset represents all Conservation Easements registered with the Ministry of Environment. Clause 7(3) of the Conservation Easements Act indicates that for a CE to be in effect a copy of an executed CE must be provided to the Ministry. Receipt of this document is recorded in this Lands Branch database and an Agreement number is assigned sequentially. An interest, based on the CE, must also be registered with ISC. Currently these two datasets are not reconciled. Technical Details: Conservation Easements are meant to protect native habitat on lands in the Province. The boundaries of the native habitat protected under a CE may not coincident with the parcel boundaries. However, the CE is identified to the larger parcel boundary. It is this parcel identification the is reflected in this spatial dataset. The Agreement Number is included which identifies the filing number under which detailed information can be found in digital and hardcopy within the Lands Branch of the Ministry of Environment.

The National Ecological Framework for Canada's "Total Land and Water Area by Ecoprovince” dataset provides land and water area values for ecoprovince framework polygons, in hectares. It includes attributes for a polygon’s total area, land-only area and large water body area.

This dataset is the result of an analysis (Aug 2018) of many input layers and as such the accuracy, currency, and completeness of the dataset cannot be relied upon for operational or management decision making.** Land designations that contribute to conservation are spatially-defined areas established through legislation or purchased for the protection of nature and cultural values, the conservation of biological diversity and ecosystem services and the management of natural resources. Over 40 land designations were divided into three broad categories: - **Protected Lands** includes all Parks & Protected Areas and Other Protected Lands with the primary purpose of the long-term conservation of nature and cultural values. - **Resource Exclusion Areas** includes all designations that fully exclude one or two resource activities for the purpose of conservation. - **Spatially Managed Areas** includes all spatial designations managing or limiting development or a resource activity for the purpose of conservation, or a spatial management regime in place to preserve specified elements of biodiversity but where activity is still allowed to occur.
