Forest Tenure Cutblock Polygons (FTA 4.0)
This is a spatial layer that reflects operational activities for cutblocks contained within harvesting authorities. The Forest Tenures Section (FTS) is responsible for the creation and maintenance of digital Forest Atlas files for the province of British Columbia encompassing Forest and Range Act Tenures. It also supports the forest resources programs delivered by MoFR. Each feature contains a Ministry of Forests and Range (MoFR) FEATURE_CLASS_SKEY (number) column that further defines the type of that feature. The layer contains cutblock boundaries for the following feature classes: Forest Licence Cut Block (555), Licence to Cut Cut Block (616), Timber Licence Cut Block (810), Timber Sale Licence Major Cut Block (817), Timber Sale Licence Minor CB Non Replaceable (820), Tree Farm Licence Cut Block (833), Wood Lot Licence Cut Block (863), Community Forest Cut Block (2402), and Timber Sale Licence Minor CB Replaceable (2417). Each cut block has a life cycle status that is either PENDING - the cut block has been submitted as a new cut block or an amendment, but is not yet approved or rejected, ACTIVE - the cut block is approved and activities may be taking place on the cut block, or RETIRED - all activities, with respect to the harvesting authority, have been completed for the cut block
Forest Tenure Harvesting Authority Polygons
This is a spatial layer that reflects operational activities for harvesting authorities. The harvesting authority is a legal area cleared by the Ministry of Forests and Range (that is, no other claims for the land exist) for harvesting purposes. This corresponds to the outlined areas on the Exhibit A maps. The Forest Tenures Section (FTS) is responsible for the creation and maintenance of digital Forest Atlas files for the province of British Columbia encompassing Forest and Range Act Tenures. It also supports the forest resources programs delivered by the MoFR. Each feature contains a Ministry of Forests and Range (MoFR) FEATURE_CLASS_SKEY (number) column that further defines the type of that feature. The layer contains harvesting authority boundaries for the following feature classes: Christmas Tree Permit (489), Forest Licence Cutting Permit (556), Licence to Cut (615), Timber Licence Cutting Permit (811), Timber Sale Licence Major Cutting Permit (818), Timber Sale Licence Minor (819), Tree Farm Licence Cutting Permit (834), WoodLot Licence Cutting Permit (864), Timber Sale Licence Minor Cutting Permit (917), and Community Forest Cutting Permit (2401). Each harvesting authority has a life cycle status code that is either PENDING - the harvesting authority has been submitted as a new harvesting authority or an amendment, but is not yet approved or rejected, ACTIVE - the harvesting authority is approved and activities may be taking place on the harvesting authority, or RETIRED - all activities have been completed for the harvesting authority
Harvesting Hauling Authority
Information about the hauling permission for a timber tenure. For some Road Permits and Licences to Cut, no hauling permission is granted.
VRI - 2024 - Forest Vegetation Composite Rank 1 Layer (R1)
Geospatial forest inventory dataset updated for depletions, such as harvesting, and projected annually for growth. Sample attributes in this dataset include: age, species, volume, height. The Vegetation Resources Inventory (VRI) spatial datasets describe both where a vegetation resource (ie timber volume, tree species) is located and how much of a given resource is within an inventory unit. Manitoba Forest Management Units – Version 4
This feature class represents Manitoba's Forest Management Unit (FMU) boundaries.Forest Management Units (FMU's) define a forested area with common forest conditions that are managed in a similar manner. Forest Sections are comprised of FMU's. Forest inventories within Forest Management Units are analysed to determine allowable harvest limits of softwood and hardwood tree species within each Forest Management Unit. Version 3: The southern portion of FMU 67 within the Highrock Forest Section has been adjusted to align with base features captured in 2009. Additionally, an 11 hectare portion of the Saskatchewan River Forest Section (FMU 59) has been added to the Highrock Forest Section. Version 4: The northern portion of FMU 68 along the Rail Haul within the Highrock Forest Section has been adjust so that the boundary falls within water only. Additionally, version 4 splits the 'White Zone' forest section (FMU 76) by ecozones, creating FMU 76 (Taiga Shield), FMU 77 (Southern Arctic), FMU 78 (Hudson Plain) and FMU 79 (Boreal Shield). Version 4 is dated February 8, 2013. Fields Included: OBJECTID: Sequential unique whole numbers that are automatically generated . MANAGEMENT_UNIT_NUMBER : Management Unit (MU) number . S ECTION : Forest section number . SECTION_NAME : Forest section name .
Patch Size Assessment Amalgamation Units for the Cariboo Natural Resource Region
This dataset is a combination of landscape unit, biogeoclimatic zone/subzone/variants and Cariboo Chilcotin Land Use Plan leading group type (PineGroup or FirGroup) that patch size assessments are carried out on. Refer to the **Cariboo Regional Biodiversity Conservation Strategy Update Note #4: An Approach for Patch Size Assessments in the Cariboo Forest Region** (see below under "Related Links") for more information on how patch size assessment amalgamation units are derived.
Forest Development Units
The spatial representation of a Forest Stewardship Plan and Forest Development Units. A Forest Stewardship Plan is a plan submitted by a forest industry licensee stating how the BC Government's objectives for managing the province's forest resources will be met. It identifies the plan-holder's obligations for a five-year period. The Forest Development Unit is the spatially-mapped area of land within a Forest Stewardship Plan where specific forest practices obligations apply to specific forest licensees.
Manitoba Forest Management Licence Agreement Areas – Version 3
This feature class represents Manitoba's Forest Management Licence (FML) boundaries. The Forest Act provides for the establishment of Forest Management Licences to provide a continuous supply of timber to the forest industry. A Forest Management Licence, granted for a period of not more than twenty years, may be renewed for further periods. The Forest Management Licence describes the land upon which trees may be cut, the volume of wood that may be harvested, and other terms and conditions. There are currently two Forest Management Licences in Manitoba, FML-2 and FML-3 . Timber management and forest renewal are the responsibilities of Manitoba Sustainable Government on Crown Forest Land outside of Forest Management Licence areas, and within Forest Management Licence areas where the wood is used by a facility other than that operated by the Forest Management Licensee. Version 3 of Manitoba's Forest Management Licence (FML) boundaries includes FML-2 and FML-3. Previous boundaries associated with FML-1 and IWSA's have been removed. To update and improve the positional accuracy of Manitoba's Forest Management Licence (FML) boundaries, written descriptions of FML areas were referenced along with linework from Forest Land Inventories (FLI), Forest Resource Inventories (FRI) and Manitoba's township fabric to improve Provincial FML boundaries. Boundary linework the following related geospatial datasets were topologically checked for coincident linework: Manitoba Provincial Boundary; Manitoba Forest Management Units ; Manitoba Forest Management Licence Agreement Areas; Manitoba Forest Sections; Manitoba Provincial Forests . Fields Included: FML_NAME : Forest Management Licence area name.
