Percent Saturated Surface Soil Moisture
This data series represents the volumetric soil moisture (percent saturated soil) for the surface layer (<5 cm). The data is created daily and is averaged for the ISO standard week and month. The data is produced from passive microwave satellite data collected by the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) satellite and converted to soil moisture using version 6.20 of the SMOS soil moisture processor. The data are produced by the European Space Agency and obtained under a Category 1 proposal for Level 2 soil moisture data. The data are gridded to a resolution of 0.25 degrees. Data quality flags have been applied to remove areas where rainfall is present during the acquisition, where snow cover is detected and when Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) is above an acceptable threshold.
Land Cover by Ecoregion
The National Ecological Framework for Canada's "Land Cover by Ecoregion” dataset provides land cover information within the ecoregion framework polygon. It provides landcover codes and their English and French language description as well as information about the percentage of the polygon that the component occupies.
Land Cover by Ecodistrict
The National Ecological Framework for Canada's "Land Cover by Ecodistrict” dataset provides land cover information within the ecodistrict framework polygon. It provides landcover codes and their English and French language description as well as information about the percentage of the polygon that the component occupies.
Land Cover by Ecoprovince
The National Ecological Framework for Canada's "Land Cover by Ecoprovince” dataset provides land cover information within the ecoprovince framework polygon. It provides landcover codes and their English and French language description as well as information about the percentage of the polygon that the component occupies.
Land Cover by Ecozone
The National Ecological Framework for Canada's "Land Cover by Ecozone” dataset provides land cover information within the ecozone framework polygon. It provides landcover codes and their English and French language description as well as information about the percentage of the polygon that the component occupies.
Canada Harmonized Agriculture Forest Land Cover (2015)
Canada Harmonized Agriculture Forest Land Cover 2015 The harmonized land cover (HLC) map is produced from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) and Canadian Forest Service (CFS) data. It is developed within the framework of Canada’s National Terrestrial Ecosystem Monitoring System (NTEMS). The HLC product is exhaustive of all area from the northern edge of Canada’s forested ecosystems to the southern border. The land cover is following Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) categories, represents the year 2015, and is at 30-m spatial resolution. This harmonized land cover map combines two sector-driven land cover products: the Virtual Land Cover Engine or VLCE from the CFS (Hermosilla et al., 2018), and AAFC's Annual Crop Inventory or ACI (Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, 2018). The harmonization process was conducted using a Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) model. The LDA model used regionalized class co-occurrences from multiple maps to generate a harmonized class label for each pixel by statistically characterizing land attributes from the class co-occurrences, using the information provided by the error matrices and semantic affinity scores. For a complete overview on the data, methods applied, and information on independent accuracy assessment, see Li et al. (2020). RESULTS - Forest Cover Reserve
Spatial representation of a reserve of retention area associated with a silvicultural system. Reserves are forest patches or individual trees retained during harvesting, or other forestry operations to provide habitat, scenic, biodiversity, and other values. The reserve types included are Riparian, Wildlife Tree Patches, and Other. This is part of the Silviculture and Land status Tracking dataset, which includes all business processes required to receive and process records from forest licensees to record report on Silviculture and Land Status Management activities.
2015 Land Cover of Canada
Land cover information is necessary for a large range of environmental applications related to climate impacts and adaption, emergency response, wildlife habitat, etc. In Canada, a 2008 user survey indicated that the most practical land cover data is provided in a nationwide 30 m spatial resolution format, with an update frequency of five years. In response to this need, the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing (CCRS) has generated a 30 m land cover map of Canada for the base year 2010, as well as this 2015 land cover map. This land cover dataset is also the Canadian contribution to the 30 m spatial resolution 2015 Land Cover Map of North America, which is produced by Mexican, American and Canadian government institutions under a collaboration called the North American Land Change Monitoring System (NALCMS). This land cover dataset for Canada is produced using observation from Operational Land Imager (OLI) Landsat sensor. An accuracy assessment based on 806 randomly distributed samples shows that land cover data produced with this new approach has achieved 79.90% accuracy with no marked spatial disparities.- [Land Cover of Canada - Cartographic Product Collection](https://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/11990a35-912e-4002-b197-d57dd88836d7)
Imagery Base Land Cover
IBL - Imagery, basemaps, and land cover (imageryBaseMapsEarthCover) Basemaps. For example, resources describing land cover, topographic maps, and classified and unclassified images
Dynamic Radar Composite Coverage
Radar coverage is provided to dynamically display the zones covered by the radars every 6 minutes, and to provide information on the availability (or not) of the contributing radars as well as on the areas of overlap.
