Territory flooded in 2017 and 2019
Since 1 March 2022, the Special Intervention Zones (ZIS) have been lifted. However, the territory flooded during the exceptional spring floods of 2017 and 2019, as illustrated in Annex 2 adjusted to Decree 814-2019, is considered by the Regulation concerning the provisional implementation of the amendments made by chapter 7 of the laws of 2021 on the management of risks related to floods (Transitional Regulation) as an area comparable to a low-current zone. The adjusted Annex 2 corresponds to the delimitation of the territory flooded during the spring floods of 2017 and 2019 in connection with the decree establishing the ZIS published on 15 July 2019, from which the portions of territory covered by the ministerial orders published on 30 December 2019 were subtracted.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**

Forecasted Basin-Average Accumulated Precipitation (HRDPS - 24 & 48 hrs)
This polygon layer shows sub-basin averages of HRDPS (High Resolution Deterministic Prediction System) precipitation. Ideal for capturing short-range (0–48h) high-resolution precipitation forecasts aggregated at the watershed scale.The HRDPS is a 2.5 km resolution model used for short-range, convection-permitting forecasts in Canada. This layer takes HRDPS precipitation totals and aggregates them by each sub-basin polygon, revealing how localized rain or snow could impact individual watersheds. Useful for near-term flood or flash-flood risk, as well as local water management during intense weather.
Steller sea lion (Eumetopias jubatus) counts and haulout locations across the British Columbia coast
Considered the "king" of sea lions, the Steller sea lion (Eumetopias jubatus) is the biggest of all sea lions and enjoys a lifespan of up to thirty years. In Canada, the Steller can be spotted along the rocky coast of British Columbia. This hefty mammal usually travels alone or in a small group, but wisely, it joins others for protection during the mating and birthing season. Little is known about its oceanic lifestyle; however, the good news for this sea-loving mammal is that since the Steller sea lion first became protected in 1970, the size of the adult population has more than doubled. Recent trends in the abundance of Steller sea lions (Eumetopias jubatus) in British Columbia were assessed based on a series of thirteen province-wide aerial surveys conducted during the breeding season (27-June to 06-July) between 1971 and 2013.

BC Hydrologic Zones
The BC Hydrologic Zones represent regions of similar climate and terrain resulting in somewhat homogeneous hydrology characteristics. The zones were defined previously by Obedkoff and others. This dataset has been extended into the neighbouring province, territories, and states for regional flood frequency analysis studies. Distribution of Humpback Whales - Coastal Resource Information Management System (CRIMS)
Modeled data showing the likely distribution of humpback whales. CRIMS is a legacy dataset of BC coastal resource data that was acquired in a systematic and synoptic manner from 1979 and was intermittently updated throughout the years. Resource information was collected in nine study areas using a peer-reviewed provincial Resource Information Standards Committee consisting of DFO Fishery Officers, First Nations, and other subject matter experts. There are currently no plans to update this legacy data.
Wildlife values site
The wildlife values area and site datasets represent the consolidation of 13 wildlife data classes collected by the Ministry of Natural Resources. The data estimates locations used by wildlife for various reasons, including: * breeding * calving and fawning * denning * feeding * staging * nesting * wintering * general habitat areas * nurseries * travel corridors Locations are represented as points (site) or polygons (area) and may be related to a specific species or described more generally. Wildlife values data is most often used to support policy and legislation associated with the Crown Forest Sustainability Act. The data may also be used to inform a wide range of resource management activities and decisions. There are additional sensitive features related to provincially tracked species and species at risk that are not available as part of the open data package.
