Groundwater Wells
Point features showing the location of groundwater wells in BC joined with attributes and information from the Groundwater Wells and Aquifers (GWELLS) application. NOTE: Artesian wells are flowing wells at the time of drilling. Suggested Filters: - Groundwater Supply Wells - Intended Water Use: WELL_CLASS = 'Water Supply' - Provincial Observation Wells: OBSERVATION_WELL_STATUS = 'Active' OR OBSERVATION_WELL_STATUS = 'Inactive'
Groundwater Wells Pumping Tests and Aquifer Parameters
Point features showing the locations of groundwater wells with pumping test information and/or aquifer parameter data. Some wells may have more than one pumping test record. Further context regarding the pumping tests and analysis are provided with the well records in GWELLS (https://apps.nrs.gov.bc.ca/gwells/).
Geothermal Boreholes
The BORHOLES layer represents the compilation of available data from various boreholes throughout the Yukon and near the Yukon border. This data set includes oil and gas exploration wells, mineral exploration boreholes, water supply wells and environmental monitoring well. The data points include information on the borehole location, purpose, status, depth, temperature data, water flow and chemistry data where available along with references where further detailed information may be available.
Lithology of Ground Water Wells
Point features showing the locations of groundwater wells which have lithology recorded. Each record in the dataset represents a lithology interval. Because each water well often has multiple lithology layers recorded, there will often be multiple points overlapped at each well location. For the locations of all water wells in BC (without lithology), please see: https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/e4731a85-ffca-4112-8caf-cb0a96905778 > NOTE: When choosing to download this GIS dataset below, there can be errors when trying to download the entire province. The large file size is a problem for the default file format (shapefile). > If you need to download the entire province, please choose a different file format (e.g. ESRI File Geodatabase). > If you need to download in shapefile format, please use an area of interest (AOI).
Water wells
The well registry is a collection of records, including drilling logs and report documents, maintained by Yukon Government. These records provide information on the well construction details and subsurface conditions encountered at the time of drilling. Although some information in the dataset may be edited over time, the primary purpose is to document the original drilling conditions and not to provide an updated status of the well. There is no current overarching requirement for drillers or owners to submit well logs, therefore many have been provided on a voluntary basis. Therefore, this should not be expected to be a complete list of all wells across the territory. The water well dataset contains records obtained through the domestic water well program, voluntary submissions, and regulatory processes (licenses and permits). No identifiable personal information will be used or available on the public database. Water well capture zones
Well capture zones are intended to identify potential areas of risk to aquifers where the release of contaminants could affect the water quality of community wells. The information was compiled as a discreet project under the 'Yukon Water Strategy' and represents a 'snapshot in time' of the Drinking Water Systems. Well capture zones were identified using a combination of buffers, analytical methods, and groundwater flow modelling using the Waterloo Hydrogeologic Inc. Visual MODFLOW.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Oil and Gas Well/Facility Area Permits
Land authorizations for areas on which well or facility activities can occur. This dataset contains spatial data collected on or after October 30, 2006. The spatial data includes approved and post-construction land areas associated with well or facility activities. This dataset is updated nightly.
Monitoring of pesticides in groundwater
This thematic layer shows the location of the wells sampled for pesticides in the context of various studies carried out near certain target crop environments between 1999 and 2024. The data comes from an extraction from the BQMA and, when a report is available on the Department's website, the reader can access it from a link in the information window. Private well sampling stations are grouped by watershed in order to comply with sections 53 and 54 of the Act on access to documents held by public bodies and on the protection of personal information.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
Aggregate Site Authorized
This dataset represents the locations of licenced and permitted pits and quarries regulated by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry under the Aggregate Resources Act, R.S.O. 1990. Aggregate site data has been divided into active and inactive sites. Active sites may be further subdivided into partial surrenders. In partial surrenders, defined areas of a site are inactive while the rest of the site remains active. The data includes: * site location and size * licensee name * approval type (licence or permit) * operation type (pit or quarry) * maximum annual tonnage limit * the MNRF district responsible for the site Use our interactive [pits and quarries map](https://www.ontario.ca/page/find-pits-and-quarries) to find active sites. This data does not include [aggregate sites regulated by the Ministry of Transportation](https://data.ontario.ca/dataset/ministry-of-transportation-aggregate-sites).
