Cold-water coral DNA sequences from Eastern Canada: Part 1
Cold-water corals are conspicuous in the waters off Eastern Canada. Despite that, there are few DNA sequence records from specimens collected in the region available in GenBank, and not all species recorded in the region have sequence data regardless of geographic origin. This can limit the use of eDNA techniques to detect and identify corals. Our objective was to sequence and publish sequences for two octocoral DNA barcoding markers: CO1 and MutS. We sequenced and deposited 36 sequences to GenBank from 19 specimens representing three sea pen taxa (Octocorallia: Pennatuloidea): Distichoptilum gracile, Pennatula aculeata, and Protoptilum carpenteri. Identification of all specimens was confirmed by B. M. Neves before submission. Specimens and DNA tissues were donated to the Canadian Museum of Nature, where they are currently stored. This publication is part 1 of a series of GenBank submissions by our lab.Specimens were collected from across the Northwest Atlantic and originate from depths ranging between 200-1924 meters. Specimens were collected as part of research vessel multispecies trawl surveys or remotely operated vehicle (ROV ROPOS) surveys. DNA was isolated and purified using the QIAgen DNeasy Blood and Tissue kit, with an initial overnight incubation with Proteinase K. Two commonly used octocoral barcoding regions were amplified using previously described primers: 1) COII8068F (McFadden et al., 2004) and COIOCTR (France and Hoover, 2002) for the CO1 gene, and 2) ND42599F (France and Hoover, 2002) and mut3458R (Sánchez et al., 2003) for the MutS gene. Amplifications were conducted using 12.5 µl of Green DreamTaq Master Mix (Thermo Fisher Scientific), 1 µl of template DNA, 0.5 µl of each 10 µM forward and reverse primers, 0.5 µl of 10 µM reverse primer, and 10.5 µl of water. Thermocycling was run as follows: 3 min of initial denaturation at 95 °C, followed by 40 cycles at 95 °C for 30 s, 30 s at annealing temperature of 48 °C, then 65 s at an extension temperature of 72 °C, and a final elongation at 72 °C for 4 min. PCR products were cleaned using Agencourt AMPure XP Beads (Beckman Coulter) and sent to The Center for Advanced Genomics, Toronto, Canada for Sanger sequencing. Sequences were visualized and aligned using Geneious Prime 2022.0.2. Obtained sequences have been deposited in GenBank under accession numbers OQ569768- OQ569784 and OQ420359- OQ420377. Prospectivity model for magmatic nickel deposits
Prospectivity model highlights areas of Canada with the greatest potential for magmatic nickel deposits. The preferred prospectivity model is based on public geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets that were spatially indexed using the H3 discrete global grid system. Each H3 cell is associated with a prospectivity value, or class probability, calculated from the best-performing gradient boosting machines model. Model results are filtered to include the top 20% of prospectivity values for visualization purposes.

MTA - Coal Grid, Unit
Determines the location of Coal Titles within the Province of British Columbia. It is established under the authority of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Grid Regulation. It is defined by a set of UTM coordinates which approximate NAD 27 latitude and longitude positions. Units are the finest level of the Coal Grid. They are defined by UTM coordinates for their corners and the mid points of the four sides. A unit is the base building block for creating the Coal Grid. In a block there are 100 units, 10 rows by 10 columns, and numbered consecutively, starting in the southeast corner. The units are numbered 1 to 10, 11 - 20 etc. always reading from right to left. Hemlocks (Genus Tsuga) in Canada 2011
The raster maps depict a suite of forest attributes in 2001* and 2011 at 250 m by 250 m spatial resolution. The maps were produced using the k nearest neighbours method applied to MODIS imagery and trained from National Forest Inventory photo plot data. As these maps also offer a coherent set of quantitative values for a large suite of forest attributes, they can be used as baseline information for modelling and in calculations such as merchantable forest volume or percentage of tree species. It is also possible to overlay these maps with other maps produced on the same pixel grid to make assessments of disturbance impacts, such as fire and harvests.
CMIP5 Multi-Model Ensembles of Snow Depth projections
Multi-model ensembles of snow depth based on projections from twenty-eight Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5) global climate models are available for 1900-2100. Specifically, the 5th, 25th, 50th, 75th and 95th percentiles of the monthly, seasonal and annual ensembles of snow depth (m) are available for the historical time period, 1900-2005, and for emission scenarios, RCP2.6, RCP4.5 and RCP8.5, for 2006-2100. Note: Projections among climate models can vary because of differences in their underlying representation of earth system processes. Thus, the use of a multi-model ensemble approach has been demonstrated in recent scientific literature to likely provide better projected climate change information.

Atlas of Canada National Scale Data – Annual Minimum Snow and Ice (MSI) Extent Time Series
The Annual Minimum Snow and Ice (MSI) Extent of the Atlas of Canada National Scale Data, are data sets compiled containing annual data from 2000 to present. The data sets were derived from research published by the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing which classified satellite imagery over Canada and neighbouring regions for the continued presence or absence of snow and ice from April 1 to September 20 each year. The Atlas of Canada MSI products consist of a vector dataset and a raster time-series animation application.VECTOR DATASETThe vector dataset has been generalized to display at the scale of 1:1,000,000.TIME-SERIES ANIMATION APPLICATIONThe time-series animation application has not been generalized from its original scale (250 m pixels).The application is disseminated through the Data Cube Platform, implemented by the Canada Centre for Mapping and Earth Observation, Natural Resources Canada using geospatial big data management techniques. These technologies enable the rapid and efficient visualization of high-resolution geospatial data and allow for the rapid generation of dynamically derived products.
