Data is supplied through various sources and is updated from the operational systems every 15 minutes. These points are rolled over to Historical Fire Points on April 1 of each year. Wildfire data may not reflect the most current fire situation, and therefore should only be used for reference purposes. Wildfire data is refreshed when practicable and individual fire update frequency will vary. The information is intended for general purposes only and should not be relied on as accurate because fires are dynamic and circumstances may change quickly.

This dataset is comprised of locations and current information for all schools for Kindergarten to Grade 12 in British Columbia. Indicators are included for schools that offer French programs including: Core French, Early French Immersion, Late French Immersion and Francophone Program.

This data contains the current caribou subpopulation (herd) boundaries. Herd boundaries are derived from the best available science and expert knowledge. A caribou subpopulation (herd) boundary is the area required to be managed to achieve a self-sustaining population. Subpopulation boundaries do not overlap even though some caribou subpopulations share portions of their annual range. *This dataset is the focal point of the Caribou in British Columbia - Web Application.

A Fire Disturbance Area represents the mapped exterior perimeter of a forest fire. Mapping is derived from a variety of sources, such as GPS points and digitized paper maps. Prior to 1998, only fires greater than 200 hectares were mapped. Since 1998, fires greater than 40 hectares have been mapped. If adequate mapping exists for fires less than 40 hectares in size, they will be included in this data class. Current Limited Entry Hunting (LEH) Zones polygons are hunting opportunities created via a lottery, and the details are found in the LEH Synopsis. Participation in the LEH draw is available to any resident of BC who legally possesses a BC Resident Hunter Number. The purpose of Limited Entry Hunting is to achieve wildlife management objectives without resorting to such measures as shortening seasons or completely closing areas. It is only introduced where it has become necessary to limit the number of hunters, limit the number of animals that may be taken, or limit the harvest to a certain class of animal. The Zones are valid during the LEH hunting season, and changes are made effective July 1st of each yearly. Some zones change frequently, some change rarely.
