Original ecoforest map and results of the fourth inventory
__The link: *Access the data directory* is available in the section*Dataset Description Sheets; Additional Information*__.The original ecoforest map and the results of the 4th ecoforest inventory of southern Quebec constitute a grouping of ecoforest data including the original ecoforest map of the 4th inventory and numerous other tables providing information directly related to ecoforest populations. The information in this dataset corresponds to the forest profile up to the year of aerial photography. Among the numerous tables and entity classes that the product brings together, the following groups can be distinguished: * The original ecoforest map of the 4th inventory made up of ecoforest polygons. This is the geographic base to which all other data is attached; * The forest compilations of the 4th inventory, which contain, among other things, the gross commercial volumes evaluated by essence; * The ecological classification of Quebec territory; * Data for the characterization of forest stations. __Note that__ the original ecoforest map of the 4th inventory has been complete since 2018 and that no new mapping has been added. This differs from the current original ecoforest map where, each year, a portion of Quebec's territory is photo-interpreted and integrated into the provincial product by replacing the cartographic information from the previous inventory. In addition, some areas have not been mapped since the 3rd inventory and are therefore absent from the original ecoforest map from the 4th inventory.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
Original ecoforest map and current inventory results
__The link: *Access the data directory* is available in the section*Dataset Description Sheets; Additional Information*__.The original ecoforest map and inventory results are a collection of ecoforest data including the original ecoforest map and numerous other tables that provide information directly related to forest stands. The information in this dataset corresponds to the portrait of the forest up to the year of aerial photography. This data covers six categories of information:+ The original ecoforest map made up of ecoforest polygons. This is the geographic base to which all other data is attached;+ Forest compilations that contain, among other things, gross market volumes evaluated by species, by attribution group (e.g., SEPM) and by type of species (e.g., softwood);+ The ecological classification of Quebec territory;+ Data on the characterization of forest stations and characteristics of wood; + Wood quality characterization data;+ Forest biomass and carbon. This map covers almost all of the territory south of the 52nd parallel of Quebec's public and private forest. It is distributed by map sheet at a scale of 1/250,000. The minimum mapping area is 4 ha.__ ⚠️ Notes:__+ All tables and entity classes in this data group can be linked using the “GEOCODE” field.+ The geographic databases published in this directory do not include information collected during the survey (sample plots). + Consult the [Updated Ecoforest Map] (https://www.donneesquebec.ca/recherche/fr/dataset/carte-ecoforestiere-avec-perturbations) () for an up-to-date portrait of forest territory, also available on Data Quebec.__ 🕰️ Former appellations:__ Original ecoforest map and inventory resultsInventory result and original ecoforest mapIntegrated product of the Southern Quebec Ecoforest Inventory (IEQM)**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
Original ecoforest map from the third inventory
__The link: *Access the data directory* is available in the section*Dataset Description Sheets; Additional Information*__.The original ecoforest map of the third inventory is made from aerial photographs as well as several other products to inform the photointerpreter (forest interventions, information concerning natural disturbances, data from previous inventories, etc.). This map shows the various forest and ecological characteristics of the forest territory and corresponds to the forest profile up to the year in which the aerial photograph was taken. To learn more about ecoforest stratification parameters, simply consult Chapter 3 of the document [*Ecoforest Mapping Standards — Third Ecoforest Inventory (MRNF, 2009) *] (https://mrnf.gouv.qc.ca/documents/forets/inventaire/norme-cartographie-ecoforestiere.pdf). __Note that__ the original ecoforest map of the third inventory has been complete since 2003 and that no new cartographic information has been added since then. Note, however, that improvements were made to the dataset format in 2025.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
Data from the Northern Ecoforest Inventory Program (PIEN)
__The link: *Access the data directory* is available in the section*Dataset Description Sheets; Additional Information*__.The ecoforest inventory north of the northern limit of attributable forests is an extensive inventory that was carried out for specific knowledge acquisition needs. It was carried out between 2005 and 2009 as part of the work of the scientific committee responsible for examining the northern limit of attributable forests (Nordic Ecoforest Inventory Program [PIEN]). The data in this inventory comes from a cartography that is based both on the use of archival aerial photographs interpreted in three dimensions on the screen and on the analysis of satellite images. This dataset covers the territory between the 50th and 53rd parallel and covers an area of 242,000 km2. It includes forest and ecological mapping data (vegetation, surface deposits and drainage) as well as ecodendrometric sample plot data. This data is distributed by map sheet at a scale of 1/250,000. The minimum mapping area is 8 ha for stands and 4 ha for surface deposits.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
Ecological planning unit
__The link: *Access the data directory* is available in the section*Dataset Description Sheets; Additional Information*__.The layer of **ecological planning units (UPE) ** constitutes the territorial base at the base of the ecoforest inventory process in southern Quebec (IEQM). It was created and then integrated as part of the current inventory (fifth IEQM). It integrates concepts that are both administrative (forest region) and ecological (ecological region). More precisely, the division is done on an ecological basis within each of the forest regions. It is on this basis that the activities of the IEQM are planned. Each of the layers included in the IEQM monitoring datasets reports on what has been achieved as part of the current inventory. We are talking here about aerial photography, mapping, terrestrial sampling of temporary sample plots, and compilation activities. Each year, new territories are added to each layer to reflect the progress of the work.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
Annual Crop Inventory 2013
In 2013, the Earth Observation Team of the Science and Technology Branch (STB) at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) repeated the process of generating annual crop inventory digital maps using satellite imagery to for all of Canada, in support of a national crop inventory. A Decision Tree (DT) based methodology was applied using optical (Landsat-8) and radar (RADARSAT-2) based satellite images, and having a final spatial resolution of 30m. In conjunction with satellite acquisitions, ground-truth information was provided by provincial crop insurance companies and point observations from the BC Ministry of Agriculture and our regional AAFC colleagues.
Annual Crop Inventory 2012
In 2012, the Earth Observation Team of the Science and Technology Branch (STB) at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) repeated the process of generating annual crop inventory digital maps using satellite imagery to for all of Canada (except Newfoundland), in support of a national crop inventory. A Decision Tree (DT) based methodology was applied using optical (DMC, SPOT) and radar (RADARSAT-2) based satellite images, and having a final spatial resolution of 30m. In conjunction with satellite acquisitions, ground-truth information was provided by provincial crop insurance companies and point observations from our regional AAFC colleagues.
Annual Crop Inventory 2011
In 2011, the Earth Observation Team of the Science and Technology Branch (STB) at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) expanded the process of generating annual crop inventory digital maps using satellite imagery to include British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritime provinces, in support of a national crop inventory. A Decision Tree (DT) based methodology was applied using optical (Landsat-5, DMC) and radar (RADARSAT-2) based satellite images, and having a final spatial resolution of 30m. In conjunction with satellite acquisitions, ground-truth information was provided by provincial crop insurance companies and point observations from our regional AAFC colleagues.
Vegetation Inventory - 40k
This feature delineates forest and vegetation stands in the Yukon at a scale of 1: 40 ,000. It is a management level forest inventory (as opposed to a n operational level) - meaning that analysis and mapping are most effective close to the 1:40,000 scale and not larger . This inventory has been completed in various stages : delineation from hardcopy black and white photographs took place from 1987 to 2002; while recent data collection has proceeded through a digital (aka 'softcopy') methodology of scanned photographs and digital elevation models.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Annual Crop Inventory
Understanding the state and trends in agriculture production is essential to combat both short-term and long-term threats to stable and reliable access to food for all, and to ensure a profitable agricultural sector. Starting in 2009, the Earth Observation Team of the Science and Technology Branch (STB) at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) began the process of generating annual crop type digital maps. Focusing on the Prairie Provinces in 2009 and 2010, a Decision Tree (DT) based methodology was applied using optical (Landsat-5, AWiFS, DMC) and radar (Radarsat-2) based satellite images. Beginning with the 2011 growing season, this activity has been extended to other provinces in support of a national crop inventory. To date this approach can consistently deliver a crop inventory that meets the overall target accuracy of at least 85% at a final spatial resolution of 30m (56m in 2009 and 2010).
