Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM) Project Boundaries
Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM) Project Boundaries (STE_TEM_PROJECT_BOUNDARIES_SVW) contains boundaries (study areas) and attributes describing each TEM project (project level metadata), plus links to the locations of other data associated with the project (e.g., reports, polygon datasets, plotfiles, field data, legends). This layer is derived from the [STE_TEI_PROJECT_BOUNDARIES_SP](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/1313fac7-2ea1-4c6b-995b-bd421b7ec3c6) layer by filtering on the PROJECT_TYPE attribute. Project Types include: TEM, NEM, TEMNSS, NEMNSS, TEMPRE, NEMPRE, TEMSEI, TEMSET, TEMTSM, TEMWHR, TEMSDM, TEMPRW, NEMPRW, and NEMSEI. TEM project boundaries should be used in conjunction with TEM detailed inventory polygons which divide the landscape into units according to a variety of ecological features including climate, physiography, surficial material, bedrock geology, soils and vegetation. TEM inventory polygons with full Resources Information Standards Committee (RISC) attributes can be accessed through the [Terrestrial Ecosystem Information (TEI) Data Distribution Packages](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/8fd15e4e-e7b1-4566-81d1-1ff8947bfd46). TEM inventory polygons with simplified and amalgamated (concatenated) RISC attributes can be accessed through the [Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM) Detailed Polygons with Short Table Attribute Table Spatial View](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/0a83163b-a62f-4ce6-a9a1-21c228b0c0a3). **Current version**: v12 (2026-06-22)
Wildlife Management Unit Biologist Contact Boundaries
The Wildlife Management Unit Biologist Contact Boundaries dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Wildlife Management Unit Biologist Contact Boundaries within the Province of Alberta. The dataset is to help determine which Biologist is responsible for each Wildlife Management Unit. Please refer to the metadata included with the data for full entity attribute information.
Community Boundaries
This file is made up of several types of boundaries being Municipal, Development Area Regulations, Land Claims Final Agreement, Self Government Agreement, Memorandum of Understanding, Local Area Plans, and Community Plans. Some areas have more than one boundary for different purposes. The boundaries chosen and shown here are the most current from our inventory.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Wildlife Habitat Areas - Approved
The dataset contains approved legal boundaries for wildlife habitat areas and specified areas for species at risk and regionally important wildlife. Additional information including approved orders associated with WHAs is available [here](http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/cgi-bin/apps/faw/wharesult.cgi?search=show_approved).
Game Management Zones
Amalgamations of Wildlife Management Units which share similar ecological characteristics and hunter harvest patterns, and thus provide a suitable geographical framework for implementing population management strategies
First Nation Settlement Lands - Internal Parcels
Internal boundaries mark the limits of the parcels inside a jurisdictional area, for examples the internal boundaries of a First Nation Settlement Lands.Details on specific feature types and their associated attributes can be found in the Integrated Cadastral Management Feature Catalogue, which is under development. Forest genetics zone
This spatial data identifies breeding zones used by forest managers and forest genetic associations to manage provincial forest genetic assets. The data: * shows the boundaries of breeding zones * identifies the primary or target species within each zone Species are associated with certain breeding programs, seed orchards and progeny (descendant) testing installations.
BC Parks, Ecological Reserves, and Protected Areas
This dataset contains parks and protected areas managed for important conservation values and are dedicated for the preservation of their natural environments for the inspiration, use and enjoyment of the public. Places of special ecological importance are designated as ecological reserves for scientific research and educational purposes. Source data is Tantalis. *April 18, 2018: Prior to this date this dataset had one spatial boundary per park per survey plan that intersected the boundary of that park. This resulted in multiple identical boundaries for each park that had more than one survey plan overlapping it’s boundaries. The change aggregated the park data so that there is just one boundary per park with the plan numbers concatenated into a single column where each different plan number is separated by a comma.
Ontario Fishing Divisions before January 2008
Prior to January 1, 2008, fishing divisions were administrative units to manage, monitor, assess and regulate recreational fisheries. Each zone was based on angler usage and ecological/geographic patterns. Refer to [Fisheries Management Zone for boundaries after 2008](/dataset/fisheries-management-zone).
