To outline the locations of buildings on Parks Canada sites, buildings that Parks Canada manages, and other buildings of interest to Parks Canada. Polygon file to map building footprints of buildings on Parks Canada sites. Footprints may be derived by tracing the roof outline (for example from an airphoto) or using more detailed measurements of the ground floor.Data is not necessarily complete - updates will occur weekly.

Bedrock map index
A Yukon-wide compilation of map footprints and associated citation data for 191 published bedrock geology maps that were incorporated into the Yukon bedrock geology compilation. The maps were originally produced by the GSC, YGS, Yukon Government and various universities at various scales ranging from 1:10,000 to 1:500,000. Contiguously Settled Areas: Settlement footprints, 2010 and 2020
This product contains contiguously settled area (CSA) boundaries for a subset of Canadian population centres for 2010 and 2020.The CSA boundaries are derived from land cover data and represent the geographic extent of settled areas based on their physical footprint on the landscape. The boundaries can be used for reference, mapping and spatial analysis of settled areas and urban ecosystems.The CSA boundaries are created and maintained under the umbrella of the Census of Environment, and will support Statistics Canada’s ecosystem accounting efforts following the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting — Ecosystem Accounting (SEEA EA) framework. The primary purpose of the CSA boundaries is to represent the extent of the contiguous urban footprint and allow for the measurement of settled area expansion over time. They will also contribute to the urban and industrial ecosystem class in Statistics Canada’s ecosystem accounting efforts. The boundaries will be used for other types of urban ecosystem analyses, including measures of urban ecosystem condition and services. The CSA boundaries may also be used for urban thematic accounts or to inform where users of ecosystem services are located.Moving forward, CSA boundaries will be updated on an ongoing basis.
Maritimes Region Longline and Trap Gear Fisheries Footprint
Data layers show commercial fishery footprints for directed fisheries using bottom and pelagic longlines for groundfish and large pelagics respectively, and traps for hagfish, LFA 41 and Grey Zone lobster, snow crab, and other crab on the Scotian Shelf, the Bay of Fundy, and Georges Bank in NAFO Divisions 4VWX and Canadian portions of 5Y and 5Z. Bottom longline and trap fishery maps aggregate commercial logbook effort (bottom longline soak time and logbook entries) per 2-minute grid cell using 2002–2017 data. Pelagic longline maps aggregate speed-filtered vessel monitoring system (VMS) track lines as vessel minutes per km2 on a base-10 log scale using 2003–2018 data. The following data layers are included in the mapping service for use in marine spatial planning and ecological risk assessment: 1) multi-year and quarterly composite data layers for bottom longline and trap gear, and 2) multi-year and monthly composite data layers for pelagic longline gear. Importance of the forest industry to the regional economy
Many communities in Canada depend to some extent on forestry and the forest sector. The importance of the forest industry to the regional economy can be assessed using the CanEcumene GIS Database. “Ecumene” is a term used by geographers, meaning “inhabited lands.” A forest ecumene refers to areas where human settlement coincides with forested areas, including locations where people depend on the forest for their livelihood. Populated places in the ecumene database are referenced using natural boundaries, as opposed to administrative or census boundaries, and provide a more suitable means for integrating socio-economic data with ecological and environmental data in a region.An analysis of ecumene labour force data and location of mill facilities resulted in a generalized rendering showing regional dependency of the forest industry. The location of mill facilities layer includes information on mill type (i.e., pulp and saw) and ownership. The sensitivity to forest industry layer shows which forest communities and regions are more sensitive to economic impacts in the forest industry.Two layers are provided: the sensitivity of forest communities and regions to forest industry, and the location of mill facilities.

Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator - Oil and Gas Activity
The dataset contains the digital boundaries for significant discovery licences, production licences, drilled wells, major pipelines and the jurisdictional boundary of the area administered by the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator (CNSOER), as well as the inactive Georges Bank permits formerly administered by the Canada Oil and Gas Lands Administration (COGLA). All production facilities have been removed and active projects were fully abandoned and decommissioned by November 2020. As of January 2022 there are no active exploration licences.A significant discovery licence (SDL) may be issued for lands within a declared significant discovery area under the Accord Acts. The term of a significant discovery licence is indefinite and was designed to maintain an explorer's rights during the period between first discovery and eventual production. Significant discovery licence interest representatives in 2021 include BP Canada Energy Company, ExxonMobil Canada Ltd., ExxonMobil Canada Properties, Ovintiv Canada ULC, and Shell Canada Limited. Most of the SDLs predate the CNSOEB; they were issued at various times from 1980 to 1986 by COGLA before the Offshore Board existed. On January 5, 1990, they were all rolled into CNSOEB’s governance. The only exception is SDL 2702 which was issued June 6, 2007.A production licence (PL) gives interest holders the right to produce petroleum in an area which is subject to a declared commercial discovery. In order to be declared a commercial discovery, an operator must demonstrate that the discovery contains reserves that will justify the investment of capital and effort to bring the discovery to production. A production licence has a term of 25 years but may be extended if commercial production is continuing or is likely to recommence.Production licence interest representatives in 2021 include ExxonMobil Canada Ltd. and Ovintiv Canada ULC. The PLs were effective on the following dates:• 2901, 2902: 1991-04-01• 2903, 2904, 2905, 2906: 1999-07-06• 2907: 2003-10-31• 2908: 2004-11-25• 2909, 2910, 2911: 2010-12-31 Inactive Georges Bank permit interest representatives include BP Canada Energy Company and Chevron Canada Ltd.Each production licence, significant discovery licence and inactive Georges Bank permit polygon is a mapped representation of the permit interest abstract. The offshore area is divided into grid areas and permit interest abstracts are defined by this land division. The land division system consists of grid areas, sections, and units – all referenced to the North American Datum of 1927 (NAD27). The directory of wells point dataset contains the surface locations for all wells drilled in Offshore Nova Scotia. The file includes well names, locations, spud dates, termination dates, rig table elevations, water depths, well total depth, well type (exploratory, delineation, production, or injector), well result, and current status. Original data for wells drilled prior to 1990 was collected and maintained by the Geological Survey of Canada and COGLA. Data are also available on the Basin database online (https://basin.gdr.nrcan.gc.ca/index_e.php). The offshore gas pipeline polyline dataset contains locations of major pipelines in the CNSOER's jurisdictional area, associated with petroleum production in offshore Nova Scotia. This file is considered to be approximate and is not an official record. Some pipeline coordinates are sourced from CAD documents (DXF), supplied by operators. Some were created using ArcMap, digitized from paper records. As of October 2021, all pipelines within this file have been fully flushed with sea water and abandoned.All shapefiles were transformed into the NAD83 datum using the NTv2 transformation.
