Forest Inventory Ground Plots - Public Access
The Forest Analysis and Inventory Branch (FAIB) is responsible for coordinating and managing data collection and analyses from a range of different ground sampling programs that collect data on ground plots. This layer shows ground plots from the PSP and VRI programs. **Vegetation Resource Inventory (VRI):** ground samples primarily used to audit and verify key inventory attributes estimated during photo interpretation. These samples are not protected because they will not be revisited. **Permanent Sample Plots (PSP):** subjectively located fixed-area permanent plots, valued for their long-term re-measurement data to support development of growth-and-yield models in unmanaged stands across a range of stand and ecosystem types. Actual GPS coordinates are provided as protection is necessary. - Active PSPs = plot and buffer are protected from harvesting - Inactive PSPs = not protected from harvesting

These structure, isopach and zero edge files are part of a series of stratigraphic framework maps for the Saskatchewan Phanerozoic Fluids and Petroleum Systems (SPFPS) project.The series of stratigraphic framework maps for the Saskatchewan Phanerozoic Fluids and Petroleum Systems (SPFPS) project have been produced using 2 km equi-spaced modified grids generated from Golden Software’s Surfer 9 kriging algorithm. The dataset used to produce each of the maps in this series was created using data from several projects completed by the Ministry (Christopher, 2003; Saskatchewan Industry and Resources et al., 2004; Kreis et al., 2004; Marsh and Heinemann, 2006; Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources et al., 2007; Heinemann and Marsh, 2009); these data were validated and edited as required to facilitate correlations between the various regional projects. In addition, to minimize edge effects during contouring, the senior author also generated stratigraphic data from wells in adjacent jurisdictions.
Sites Leading Genus by Stem Count - Multi-Agency Ground Plot (MAGPlot) Database: A Repository for pan-Canadian Forest Ground Plot Data
Multi-Agency Ground Plot (MAGPlot) database (DB) is a pan-Canadian forest ground-plot data repository. The database synthesize forest ground plot data from various agencies, including the National Forest Inventory (NFI) and 12 Canadian jurisdictions: Alberta (AB), British Columbia (BC), Manitoba (MB), New Brunswick (NB), Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), Nova Scotia (NS), Northwest Territories (NT), Ontario (ON), Prince Edward Island (PE), Quebec (QC), Saskatchewan (SK), and Yukon Territory (YT), contributed in their original format. These datasets underwent data cleaning and quality assessment using the set of rules and standards set by the contributors and associated documentations, and were standardized, harmonized, and integrated into a single, centralized, and analysis-ready database. The primary objective of the MAGPlot project is to collate and harmonize forest ground plot data and to present the data in a findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR) format for pan-Canadian forest research. The current version includes both historical and contemporary forest ground plot data provided by data contributors. The standardized and harmonized dataset includes eight data tables (five site related and three tree measurement tables) in a relational database schema. Site-related tables contain information on geographical locations, treatments (e.g. stand tending, regeneration, and cutting), and disturbances caused by abiotic factors (e.g., weather, wildfires) or biotic factors (e.g., disease, insects, animals). Tree-related tables, on the other hand, focus on measured tree attributes, including biophysical and growth parameters (e.g., DBH, height, crown class), species, status, stem conditions (e.g., broken or dead tops), and health conditions. While most contributors provided large and small tree plot measurements, only NFI, AB, MB, and SK contributed datasets reported at regeneration plot level (e.g., stem count, regeneration species). Future versions are expected to include updated and/or new measurement records as well as additional tables and measured and compiled (e.g., tree volume and biomass) attributes. MAGPlot is hosted through Canada’s National Forest Information System (https://nfi.nfis.org/en/maps). -----------------------------------------------------------------------SITES LEADING GENUS BY STEM COUNT LAYER:-----------------------------------------------------------------------Shows the leading genus at each site for the most recently measured year, determined by counting the number of stems of each genus type.-----------NOTES:----------- The MAGPlot release (v1.0 and v1.1) does not include NL and SK datasets due to pending Data Sharing Agreements, ongoing data processing, or restrictions on third-party sharing. These datasets will be included in future releases. While certain jurisdictions permit open or public data sharing, given that requestor signs and adheres the Data Use agreement, there are some jurisdictions that require a jurisdiction-specific request form to be signed in addition to the Data Use Agreement form. For the MAGPlot Data Dictionary, other metadata, datasets available for open sharing (with approximate locations) and available data visualization products, please check all the folders in the “Data and Resources” section below. Crown cover (CCOVER) is an estimate of the proportional area of the ground covered by the vertical projection of tree crowns on to the ground. Available here as a crown cover raster (GeoTIF) with a 10 m pixel resolution.Download: Here The Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment, Forest Service Branch, has developed a forest resource inventory (FRI) which meets a variety of strategic and operational planning information needs for the boreal plains. Such needs include information on the general land cover, terrain, and growing stock (height, diameter, basal area, timber volume and stem density) within the provincial forest and adjacent forest fringe. This inventory provides spatially explicit information as 10 m or 20 m raster grids and as vectors polygons for relatively homogeneous forest stands or naturally non-forested areas with a 0.5 ha minimum area and a 2.0 ha median area. Crown cover (CCOVER) is an estimate of the proportional area of the ground covered by the vertical projection of tree crowns on to the ground. CCOVER is available here as a color-mapped 16-bit unsigned integer raster grid in GeoTIFF format with a 10 m pixel resolution. An ArcGIS Pro layer file (*.lyrx) is supplied for viewing CCOVER data in the following 10 per cent categories. Domain: [NULL, 0…100]. Land Research Tool
This application allows users to interactively view Crown land interest data layers and explore land parcels. It is intended to be used as a research tool to assist land research on interests on British Columbia Crown land. The tool can be used to view Crown land interest data, imagery, add your own data, and print maps. This application does not include all interests on Crown land. Rather, it provides a curated selection of publicly available data. Only publicly available interest layers are included. No confidential layers are displayed. User-added data is only accessible to the individual who adds it. This data is stored temporarily and will not persist if the user clears their browser cache. Due to volume of data included layers may take time to load. To improve draw time, zoom in as closely as possible to your area of interest. Data is sourced live from the BC Geographic Warehouse, which may occasionally experience temporary outages. The information presented on this map is provided without prejudice for the purposes of land research. It is subject to revision and does not constitute a legal definition.
