Boundary linework the following related geospatial datasets were topologically checked for coincident linework: Manitoba Provincial Boundary; Manitoba Forest Management Units ; Manitoba Forest Management Licence Agreement Areas; Manitoba Forest Sections; Manitoba Provincial Forests . Ontario's Crown forest is divided into geographic planning areas, known as forest management units. Most of these units are managed by individual forest companies under a Sustainable Forest License. A forest management unit is identified by an assigned official name (e.g., Black Spruce Forest) and a unique numeric code. Before any forestry activities can take place in a management unit, there must be an approved forest management plan in place for each management unit. Data from the former Kemptville, Midhurst and Aylmer Districts were compiled in this dataset to show forest areas on private land, managed by the landowner in cooperation with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources under the Woodlands Improvement Act (WIA). The WIA allowed for 15-year management agreements between landowners and the MNR to plant and improve woodlands on private land. The WIA was in place from 1966-1999. This data is being provided as-is. No additional data is available, and no updates or maintenance are planned for this dataset.

An Agreement Forest Area is a polygon feature that identifies an area of forested private land governed by a Forest Management Agreement. Private companies have agreed, through negotiated agreements with the ministry, to carry out planning and all operational timber management, except protection operations (for example, insect and disease pest control). We are no longer updating this data. It is best suited for historical research and analysis.

Territories in the domain of the State over which granted rights include wood volume assignments defined by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests (MRNF).There are different types of rights granted depending on the purpose (s) of use (s): -Guarantees of supply (GA), wood harvesting permits for the purpose of supplying a wood processing plant (PRAU), biomass PRAU (PRBIO) and delegation agreements (EDs) on the local forest (FP) or on residual forest territories allow forest management activities according to the various legal documents issued by the MRNF.-Education and Research Forests (FER) allow forest management activities for teaching and research purposes according to the contract issued by the MRNF.-The Duchesnay Forest Station (STF) allows forest management activities for teaching, research and tourism purposes according to the contract issued by the MRNF.-Territorial management agreements (CGT) on residual forest territories allow forest management activities and land management in accordance with the agreement issued by the MRNF.-Category 1 (TC1) lands are subject to property rights under conditions dedicated to Indigenous nations under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement and provide a framework for forest management activities. __Important:__ The MRNF does not issue any forest rights on these lands but the volume associated with the forest possibility of these lands is recorded in the SYMPA system.These territorial data come from the MRNF STF system, which is __the official source__ of this geographic information, except for residual forest territories with management agreements (CGT) as well as category 1 land (TC1). Active __granted rights__ are established according to the MRNF SYMPA system. It is possible to identify the various beneficiaries __of active rights only__, i.e. from the STF_beneficiaries table. This table is fed by the SYMPA system, which establishes forest rights and the volumes allocated to them. Forests cover large areas of Canada but only some of these forests are actively managed. The Map of Forest Management in Canada provides a generalized classification of forest management in Canada, including: protected areas, Treaty/Settlement Lands (including Treaty Lands identified in Final Agreements, Land Claim Agreements and Settlements), Indian Reserves, other federal reserves (including military training areas), provincial and territorial reserves and restricted use areas, private lands, short- and long-term Crown forest tenure areas and areas with no current Crown timber dispositions. The Managed Forest Map of Canada dataset provides a wall-to-wall classification of lands in Canada. It does not differentiate areas of forest from non-forest. The Managed Forest Map of Canada differs from maps defining the area designated as “managed forest” for greenhouse gas inventory reporting purposes and does not replace those maps. Instead, the Managed Forest Map of Canada shows areas that are currently managed, as of June 2017, and provides generalized management type classification for those areas. Collaborating agencies plan to update the dataset periodically as needed, and remain open to receiving advice from experts concerning refinement priorities for future versions.

The purpose of this feature class is to identify the forest resources management zones within a Forest Resources Management Plan, as per subsection 2(h) of the Forest Resources Regulation. These sub-divided smaller forest planning areas or landscape units are based on watershed boundaries and modified by local access and development patterns. They usually contain similar management concerns and forest types. Licensees who hold Forest Stewardship Plan agreements

The purpose of this feature class is to identify the individual annual allowable cut and annual limit areas as referred to in the Forest Resources Act subsection 20(2) and 31(10 of the Forest Resources Regulation). Where there is no approved Forest Resources Management Plan (FRMP) for an area, forest resources harvesting can only be authorized in an amount less than that prescribed by regulation for that area. The Forest Resources Regulation subsection 31(1) establishes the annual limits for harvesting timber resources for areas without an FRMP. These areas are referred to as the Annual Limit Regions in Schedule 1 of the Regulation titled Timber Harvesting Areas.
