Ministry of Natural Resources area, district and region administrative boundaries (1997-2022)
This data represents the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) administrative boundaries from 1997-2022. Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) administrative areas divide Ontario into smaller organizational units. These units were used to manage ministry programs and resources at a district and regional level. Regional and district boundaries were originally created based on: * metes and bounds * topographic features * geographic townships boundaries * territorial district boundaries We made changes to district boundaries over time. We are no longer updating this data. It is best suited for historical research and analysis. __MNR regions__ MNR regions were created to help manage ministry programs and resources at a regional level. Regions consist of several districts. __MNR districts__ MNR regions were divided into smaller organizational units called districts. __MNR areas__ MNR districts were further divided into areas.
Places administered by Parks Canada
The purpose of this feature class is to show areas that are National Parks (NPs), National Park Reserves (NPRs) and National Marine Conservation Area (NMCAs). Parks Canada manages more than 43 NPs. (See: https://parks.canada.ca/voyage-travel/recherche-tous-parks-all) for a list of PCA administered parks.By using this data, it is important to understand and accept that the data is not to be used for defining boundaries. Administrative decisions should be based on legal documents and legal survey plans.Canada Lands Surveys: https://clss.nrcan-rncan.gc.ca/clss/plan/search-recherche
Yukon Borders - Surveyed
Surveyed Borders are an Administrative Land Object that represents the spatial limits of a jurisdiction that is created and managed as a separate entity within the ICM database. In the original ICM dataset from NRCAN, this feature class is called Administrative Boundaries. Administrative Boundaries are available for the Yukon Territory, Northwest Territories and Nunavut and may include International, Provincial and Territorial boundaries. This cadastral framework provides a parcel base of properly structured vector data designed and suited for Geographical Information System (GIS) application and can be used for land management purposes. This data set is not be used for defining boundaries. Administrative decisions should be based on legal documents and legal survey plans.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . TANTALIS - Land Districts
TA_LAND_DISTRICTS_SVW contains the spatial representation (polygon) of the current extent of the administrative areas defined under Section 2 of the Land Act as Land Districts. The was created to provide a simplified view of this data from the administrative boundaries information in the Tantalis operational system. Canada Coast Guard Regions
In 2021, the Canada Coast Guard (CCG) and Fisheries and Oceans Canada updated its administrative boundaries following the creation a new Arctic region. There are now 4 administrative regions in CCG (Western, Arctic, Central and Atlantic). DFO and Coast Guard Arctic Regions developed these regions in partnership with the people they serve; this important decision will lead to stronger programs and services to better meet the unique needs of our Arctic communities. DFO and CCG operations and research cover Canada's land and waters to the international boundaries (EEZ) and are in no way limited to the boundaries drawn in the map.

Administrative divisions
The layers of administrative divisions offered at the scales of 1/20,000 and 1/100,000 allow the location of boundaries for the following components:* Boroughs and agglomerations;* Municipalities, unorganized territories and indigenous territories;* Administrative regions, metropolitan communities, and MRCs;* The international border, the interprovincial borders as well as the Québec—Newfoundland and Labrador border. For the 1/100,000 scale version, the cut-off data originally compiled at the scale of 1/20,000 is adjusted to the corresponding planimetric components at the scale of 1/100,000.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
