Broad Ecosystem Units - West Central Region
Broad Ecosystem Units were mapped using predictive modeling methods from various data sources (ranging from 1:50,000 to 1:250,000 in scale) and are referenced to the CanVec digital spatial framework (1:50,000). Broad Ecosystem Units (BEU) are a level in the Yukon bioclimate ecosystem classification system that represents areas with similar broad vegetation communities, terrain type (soils and topography) within bioclimate zones. Broad Ecosystem Units are described in the accompanying report "Regional Ecosystems of West-Central Yukon, Part 1: Ecosystem descriptions ".The intended application for mapped broad ecosystem units is 1:100,000 or smaller (1:100,000 - 1:250,000 scale) - interpretations derived from the map products should not be applied at more detailed scales, even though the resultant 30m raster map allows users to view results at more detailed resolutions. With new information, boundaries and designations of Broad Ecosystem Units can change. Updates to Broad Ecosystem Units occur only periodically. Bathymetric compilation for Scotian Shelf and Newfoundland-Labrador Shelves bioregions, offshore Atlantic Canada
The Marine Geoscience for Marine Spatial Planning (MGMSP) program, implemented byNatural Resources Canada (NRCan), is an initiative with the goal of offering innovativeregional geoscience products to support the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) intheir Marine Spatial Planning endeavors. To develop spatial management plans for variousexpansive bioregions across Canada, the DFO has undertaken the task of creatingcomprehensive ocean management strategies. Presently, the MGMSP program isconcentrating its efforts on two significant bioregions, namely the Scotian Shelf andNewfoundland and Labrador Shelves bioregions.In pursuit of this objective, the work presented in this report has focused on theassimilation and gridding of numerous disparate bathymetry datasets sourced fromauthoritative and reliable channels. The purpose of this comprehensive data gatheringapproach is to establish a unified bathymetric grid, with a consistent spatial resolution,which can be utilized in both oceanographic modeling and geological interpretation. Bycollating information from a diverse range of sources, we aim to create a comprehensiveand reliable foundation that will enable accurate and informed decision-making in the fieldof marine spatial planning, as well as enhance the accuracy and reliability of subsequentanalyses and simulations.
Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM) Detailed Polygons with Short Attribute Table Spatial View
STE_TEM_ATTRIBUTE_POLYS_SVW contains Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM) polygons with key and amalgamated (concatenated) attributes derived from the RISC (Resource Inventory Standards Committee) standard attributes. TEM divides the landscape into units according to a variety of ecological features including climate, physiography, surficial material, bedrock geology, soils and vegetation. TEM methods include manual air photo interpretation supported by selective field checking. This layer is derived from the STE_TEI_ATTRIBUTE_POLYS_SP layer by filtering on the PROJECT_TYPE attribute. Project types include: TEM, NEM, TEMNSS, NEMNSS, TEMPRE, NEMPRE, TEMSEI, TEMSET, TEMTSM, TEMWHR, TEMSDM, TEMPRW, NEMPRW, and TEMSEW. These structure, isopach and zero edge files are part of a series of stratigraphic framework maps for the Saskatchewan Phanerozoic Fluids and Petroleum Systems (SPFPS) project.The series of stratigraphic framework maps for the Saskatchewan Phanerozoic Fluids and Petroleum Systems (SPFPS) project have been produced using 2 km equi-spaced modified grids generated from Golden Software’s Surfer 9 kriging algorithm. The dataset used to produce each of the maps in this series was created using data from several projects completed by the Ministry (Christopher, 2003; Saskatchewan Industry and Resources et al., 2004; Kreis et al., 2004; Marsh and Heinemann, 2006; Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources et al., 2007; Heinemann and Marsh, 2009); these data were validated and edited as required to facilitate correlations between the various regional projects. In addition, to minimize edge effects during contouring, the senior author also generated stratigraphic data from wells in adjacent jurisdictions.
