Forecasted Basin-Average Accumulated Precipitation (GFS - 168 Hrs)
This polygon layer presents the spatial distribution of forecasted accumulated precipitation from the Global Forecast System (GFS) over watershed sub‑basins. GFS APCP raster data are overlaid with global watershed boundaries, and zonal statistics are computed to derive average precipitation per sub‑basin over a 7‑day (168‑hour) period. This product aids in global disaster preparedness and water management planning.GFS model output is processed into APCP rasters that capture accumulated precipitation over a 7‑day forecast period. These rasters are then combined with watershed boundary data, and zonal statistics are applied to compute average precipitation for each sub‑basin. The final polygon features provide a clear depiction of global rainfall and snowfall patterns, offering critical information for disaster risk management and international water resource planning.
GFS - Forecasted Accumulated Precipitation - 168 Hrs
This polygon layer represents accumulated precipitation forecasts from the Global Forecast System (GFS), a global numerical weather prediction model operated by NOAA/NCEP. It provides global medium‑range precipitation forecasts, as a 168‑hour (7‑day) accumulation, to support a wide range of weather and hydrological applications. This polygon layer is generated by extracting the accumulated precipitation field from Global Forecast System (GFS) GRIB2 files. The raw data are converted into a TIF raster, then resampled, smoothed, and classified into discrete precipitation ranges. The resulting polygon features depict forecasted precipitation accumulations over a 7‑day (168‑hour) period, allowing users to monitor expected rainfall and snowfall patterns on a global scale.
Range Units
A Range Unit is an administrative area established to assist in the management of the range program. Typically made up of one or more pastures. Generally, one or more Range Units make up a Stock Range
Remote Communities Energy Database
The Remote Communities Energy Database is a public resource that provides pertinent factual information about the generation and use of electricity and other energy sources for all remote communities in Canada. Communities are identified as remote communities if they are not currently connected to the North-American electrical grid nor to the piped natural gas network; and is a permanent or long-term (5 years or more) settlement with at least 10 dwellings. The Remote Communities Energy Database is the only national data source on energy in remote communities that is publically available on one centralized site. The Remote Communities Energy Database allows users to search and conduct analyses of remote communities and their energy context. Users are also able download the data from the Remote Communities Energy Database dataset in CSV (i.e., excel compatible) format. This data is collected from a number of sources including the remote communities themselves, local utilities, provincial and territorial government’s, Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC), Statistics Canada, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and various other stakeholders.
Food Banks
Food Banks is a point dataset identifying food banks in British Columbia.
Stock Range
A Stock Range is an administrative area established to coincide with local livestock association areas. Generally, stock ranges are made up of one or more range units. Stock ranges are found in select areas of the province where applicable; not all areas of the province contain stock ranges
Manitoba Game Hunting Areas
Game Hunting Areas (GHAs) are defined under the Hunting Areas and Zones Regulation (220/86) of The Wildlife Act (CCSM c. W130).Game Hunting Areas (GHAs) are defined under the Hunting Areas and Zones Regulation (220/86) of The Wildlife Act (CCSM c. W130). Game Hunting Areas are used to support boundaries for species specific hunting seasons, harvest allocations, bag limits, and associated regulations. Refer to the Hunting Areas and Zones Regulation for GHA boundary descriptions.
MTA - Coal Grid, Unit
Determines the location of Coal Titles within the Province of British Columbia. It is established under the authority of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Grid Regulation. It is defined by a set of UTM coordinates which approximate NAD 27 latitude and longitude positions. Units are the finest level of the Coal Grid. They are defined by UTM coordinates for their corners and the mid points of the four sides. A unit is the base building block for creating the Coal Grid. In a block there are 100 units, 10 rows by 10 columns, and numbered consecutively, starting in the southeast corner. The units are numbered 1 to 10, 11 - 20 etc. always reading from right to left. FADM - Region Compartment
The spatial representation for an Inventory Region or Compartment. Established by the Resource Inventory Branch, Inventory Regions are large drainages encompassing groups of small drainages also known as compartments. These were once used for planning purposes, similar to the current Planning Cells. They are now maintained in the files as reference for many administration boundaries
MTA - Coal Grid, Group
Determines the location of Coal Titles within the Province of British Columbia. It is established under the authority of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Grid Regulation. It is defined by a set of UTM coordinates which approximate NAD 27 latitude and longitude positions. Groups are the second coarsest level of the Coal Grid and approximate 1:50,000 NTS map sheets.
