Statistics Canada, in collaboration with the Public Health Agency of Canada and Natural Resources Canada, is presenting selected Census data to help inform Canadians on the public health risk of the COVID-19 pandemic and to be used for modelling analysis. The data provided here show the counts of the population in nursing homes and/or residences for senior citizens by broad age groups (0 to 79 years and 80 years and over) and sex, from the 2016 Census.Nursing homes and/or residences for senior citizens are facilities for elderly residents that provide accommodations with health care services or personal support or assisted living care.Health care services include professional health monitoring and skilled nursing care and supervision 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for people who are not independent in most activities of daily living.Support or assisted living care services include meals, housekeeping, laundry, medication supervision, assistance in bathing or dressing, etc., for people who are independent in most activities of daily living.Included are nursing homes, residences for senior citizens, and facilities that are a mix of both a nursing home and a residence for senior citizens.Excluded are facilities licensed as hospitals, and facilities that do not provide any services (which are considered private dwellings).

Information is listed by care type, licensee, name of facility, address, city and maximum capacity. This dataset includes both publicly subsidized and private paid facilities. New licensed residential care facilities are added as they become operational. The dataset is updated biweekly.

Table containing URL links to summary review reports on licensed personal care homes in Manitoba.This table contains URL links to reports on personal care home reviews completed by the Licensing and Compliance Branch of Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living. All licensed personal care home facilities in Manitoba are required to comply with minimum standards of care as set out in the Personal Care Home Standards Regulation under the Health Services Insurance Act. The branch monitors compliance through regular review processes. Operators of facilities are required to take the necessary steps to address concerns identified in the course of reviews within specified time lines and must provide status updates until concerns have been addressed.  Licences are reviewed and renewed annually and review findings are used to inform decision-making. Consolidated Local Health Areas (CLHAs) are a health geography standard that partitions the province into distinct areas that support coordination of specialized care between Health Authorities and Primary Care. The province is divided into five Health Authorities, which are subdivided into 41 Consolidated Local Health Areas (CLHAs), which are subdivided into 231 Community Health Service Areas (CHSAs). CLHAs encompass all of B.C., so the classification is exhaustive of all the land area in the province.
