Cultivation Intensity Index 2001
The data represents the relative cultivation intensity in the agricultural area of Alberta. Cultivation intensity refers to the frequency of cultivation associated with the following management systems: no till, conventional tillage and summerfallow. It is an estimate of the degree to which cultivation contributes to wind and water erosion. The classes shown on the map are ranked between 0 (lowest) and 1 (highest).This map was created in 2002 using ArcGIS.

2 Billion Trees ProgramForests and trees sustain life on Earth. Beyond the jobs that our sustainably managed forests provide, people living in Canada rely on forests for a wealth of benefits. Healthy forest ecosystems sustain thousands of living organisms, supply us with food, provide shelter and shade on a sunny day, clean the air we breathe and the water we drink, and hold spiritual significance for many, particularly within Indigenous cultures.The following 10 tree planting projects (out of 72 projects funded by the 2 Billion Trees program in 2021) are being showcased to highlight the diversity of projects funded across Canada. From the application of traditional ecological knowledge, habitat restoration, increasing tree biodiversity in urban centres, or engaging local residents in an effort to educate people on the importance of nature-based climate solutions, these projects demonstrate that planting trees brings a wealth of benefits for all Canadians, from coast to coast.
Canadian Impact Assessment Registry – Assessment Inventory
The assessments layer represents all assessments undertaken under the Impact Assessment Act, including those that continue under the provisions of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012. It includes assessments undertaken by the Impact Assessment Agency and other federal authorities as posted on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry Internet site. The location of a given assessment included in the dataset is approximate and is based on information submitted by proponents, if applicable. More than one location may be identified for a given assessment. Growing Degree Days
Growing degree days (GDDs) are used to estimate the growth and development of plants and insects during the growing season. Growing Degree Day are computed by subtracting a base value temperature from the mean daily temperature and are assigned a value of zero if negative. Base temperatures are a point below which development does not occur for the organism in question. Growing Degree Day products are created for base 0, 5, 10 and 15 degrees Celsius.GDD values are only accumulated during the Growing Season, April 1 through October 31.
