Canada's National Forest Inventory ground plots are a stratified random sample of select Canadian terrestrial ecozones. Ground plots are remeasured periodically. Data from ground plots include field measurements, compiled attributes and descriptions made at a point inside or adjacent to a photo plot. Ground plot data include individual large-tree and small-tree measurements, shrub tallies, understory vegetation sampling, vegetation cover, stump assessments, woody debris data, surface substrates, site descriptions and soil measurements.

A tidal resource assessment dataset for the Quatsino Sound region, British Columbia, was developed, including temporal maximum, mean, and minimum velocity magnitudes, standard deviations, and power density. The dataset was generated using a high-resolution 2D depth-averaged hydrodynamic model based on the Telemac-Mascaret solver, with Natural Neighbor interpolation applied for raster creation. This newly published dataset is the first in a series of regional tidal energy maps for Canada. Developed by CanmetENERGY Ottawa in collaboration with partners, these maps aim to support effective project planning and development by providing comprehensive tidal resource data across the country.Disclaimer:Potential errors in the model results may arise from inherent limitations in the topo-bathymetric data accuracy, assumptions in boundary conditions, approximations within the numerical methods, and the input data used in the numerical modeling. These factors introduce uncertainties that can affect the overall model outcomes. The model is subject to the following conditions:• Topo-bathymetric data: Obtained from electronic navigational charts and the Canadian Hydrographic Service’s (CHS) NONNA-10 Bathymetric Data packages, consolidating CHS-managed digital bathymetric sources with a maximum resolution of 10 m.• Tidal and current harmonic components: Used as boundary conditions from the TPXO9 global tidal model.• Model calibration and validation: Performed using data from Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP), surface elevations recorded at CHS tidal stations, and Lagrangian drifter measurements.• Interpolation method: Dataset outputs were generated with Natural Neighbor interpolation, which assumes smoothly varying data and may not capture sharp local gradients or features.• Modeled estimates: All values for velocity magnitudes, velocity standard deviations, and power density are modeled estimates and not direct field measurements.This dataset is intended for preliminary assessment of tidal projects only. The Annual Programming of Authorized Harvesting Activities (PRANA) is developed based on the intervention sectors of the Operational Integrated Forest Management Plan (PAFIO) and respects the Tactical Management Plan Strategy (PAFIT).PRANA presents the areas of intervention authorized by the Ministry in which right holders will be able to carry out forest management activities over the course of a year. In permafrost dominated regions, a gap persists in our understanding of water resources, the influence of groundwater, and the impact of climate change at the regional scale. Regional scale modelling can help to advance the understanding of these impacts by integrating with regional climate models. For regional modelling to be tenable, ongoing development of modelling methods and conceptualizations is required. By developing a fully integrated numerical groundwater-surface water climate model using HydroGeoSphere (HGS) (Aquanty 2021) for a gauged basin within the discontinuous permafrost zone, this dataset allows the verification of existing numerical methods and the testing of various conceptualizations of integrated groundwater-surface water flow in permafrost regions at the regional scale. This work informs future modelling and forecasting of regional water resources in permafrost regimes.

Over the last year, Statistics Canada (StatCan) and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) have collaborated on the implementation of a set of proximity measures to services and amenities. CMHC funded this collaboration to generate data and analytical work in support of the National Housing Strategy.The result of this collaboration is the first nation-wide Proximity Measures Database (PMD). This database is now available as an early release to meet urgent information needs of departments and other stakeholders across Canada who are dealing with the COVID-19 crisis. The current situation involving COVID-19 emphasizes the importance of having timely and accessible information available to the public at all levels of government. Proximity measures developed for this project are relevant to the current situation by providing a wealth of information (at the granular level) in terms of proximity to health facilities, pharmacies and other essential services/amenities that can be used to make rapid informed decisions at different geographical levels.WARNING: This map contains detailed data which makes it heavy to load. This dataset contains area-based management measures that have been recognized as 'other effective area-based conservation measures' (OECMs). It also contains basic information about OECMs, specifically their names, size, objectives, associated prohibitions, and DFO region. Spatial data for OECMs will be evaluated regularly, taking the most recent available information into account. In addition new 'OECMs will be identified over time. Therefore, this dataset may change over time.

The Integrated Resource Plan - Subregional dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Sub-Regional Integrated Resource Plans (IRP) in Alberta. All the Sub-Regional IRPs were completed under the Integrated Resource Planning Program, from 1976 to approximately 1995. These plans were endorsed by the Government of Alberta with most being approved by Cabinet. The Sub-Regional Plans describe land-use zonation and objectives within individual defined planning areas, to ensure overall consistency with Regional goals and objectives. An Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) is a plan which identifies the values and associated land and resource management goals for the planning area in consideration of the maintenance of social, economic, and ecological values. An IRP provides direction regarding the type of land and resource management activity that would facilitate meeting the stated objectives in the planning area (for example: recreation, grazing, industrial and commercial activities). The public was often involved in contributing input to the development of an IRP. Majority of IRP plans were endorsed by the Government of Alberta in various periods.
