Potential wetlands
The 2023 mapping of potential wetlands in Quebec (CMHPQ) 2023, released by the Directorate of Ecological Knowledge (DCE), provides up-to-date information on the potential presence of wetlands for the entire province of Quebec. In particular, version 2023 contains the classification of potentially humid geographical entities according to a selected typology and the assignment of a level of confidence associated with each entity and integrates new data sources. This mapping is an aggregation of different databases produced for other purposes and at different scales. The result of this assembly depends on the precision and accuracy of each of the data sources used. Ground ice map of Canada
The mapping depicts a first-order estimate of the combined volumetric percentage of excess ice in the top 5 m of permafrost from segregated, wedge, and relict ice. The estimates for the three ice types are based on modelling by O'Neill et al. (2019) (https://doi.org/10.5194/tc-13-753-2019), and informed by available published values of ground ice content and expert knowledge. The mapping offers an improved depiction of ground ice in Canada at a broad scale, incorporating current knowledge on the associations between geological and environmental conditions and ground ice type and abundance. It provides a foundation for hypothesis testing related to broad-scale controls on ground ice formation, preservation, and melt.
Qualitative petroleum resource assessment of the Magdalen Basin in the Gulf of St. Lawrence; Quebec, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador
GIS compilation of data used to perform the stacked cumulative chance of success (resource potential map) in Open file 8556. Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has been tasked, under the Marine Conservation Targets (MCT) initiative announced in Budget 2016, with evaluating the petroleum resource potential for areas identified for possible protection as part of the Government of Canada's commitment to conserve 10% of its marine areas by 2020. As part of this initiative, NRCan's Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) conducted a broad regional study of the petroleum potential over the majority of the Magdalen Basin, which is the principal geological basin in the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence. The GSC resource assessment is visually represented by a qualitative petroleum potential map. Disclaimer: A simplified colored version of the map is displayed on the Web Mapping Service (WMS). The correct version is available for download through the Federal Geospatial Platform (FGP) and GEOSCAN.

Prospectivity model for magmatic nickel deposits
Prospectivity model highlights areas of Canada with the greatest potential for magmatic nickel deposits. The preferred prospectivity model is based on public geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets that were spatially indexed using the H3 discrete global grid system. Each H3 cell is associated with a prospectivity value, or class probability, calculated from the best-performing gradient boosting machines model. Model results are filtered to include the top 20% of prospectivity values for visualization purposes.
Mapping Inshore Lobster Landings and Fishing Effort on a Maritimes Region Statistical Grid (2012–2014)
Fisheries landings and effort mapping of the inshore lobster fishery on the DFO Maritimes Region statistical grid (2012-2014). This report describes an analysis of Maritimes Region inshore lobster logbook data reported at a grid level, including Bay of Fundy Grey Zone data reported at the coordinate level. Annual and composite (2012–2014) grid maps were produced for landings, number of license-days fished, number of trap hauls, and the same series standardized by grid area, as well as maps of catch weight per number of trap hauls as an index of catch per unit effort (CPUE). Spatial differences in fishing pressure, landings, and CPUE are indicated, and potential mapping applications are outlined. Mapping the distribution and intensity of inshore lobster fishing activity has management applications for spatial planning and related decision support. The lack of region-wide latitude and longitude coordinates for lobster effort and landings limits the utility of commercial logbook data for marine spatial planning purposes.

FINAL SK2 West Caribou Habitat Management Areas
Caribou habitat management areas identify zones ("tiers") with similar importance to caribou, potential risks and primary strategies for caribou conservation.These Final Caribou Habitat Management Areas (CHMAs) are based on known woodland caribou use and habitat potential mapping; in addition, levels of both human-caused and wildfire disturbances were also taken into consideration. Tier 1 areas were selected because they include high-moderate caribou habitat potential with high levels of observed caribou use and low levels of human-caused disturbance. Tier 2 areas were selected because they include areas of high-moderate woodland caribou habitat potential with observed use and higher levels of wildfire and human-caused disturbance. Tier 3 areas provide general habitat and maintain habitat connectivity between Tier 1 and Tier 2 areas. These areas are not permanent: they will be updated as habitat conditions, land use and caribou populations change over time. Different strategies have been developed for each Tier based on their stated management objectives and relative importance to and known use by caribou, current habitat condition and potential risks.
