Major hard rock mining project in Yukon requires a detailed environmental and socio-economic assessment and various regulatory approvals. These approvals include, but are not limited to a Water Licence and a Quartz Mining Licence.A project must go through two distinct stages before mining activity can commence. First, an assessment determines whether significant adverse environmental or socio-economic effects are likely to occur. The data estimates locations used by wildlife for various reasons, including: * breeding * calving and fawning * denning * feeding * staging * nesting * wintering * general habitat areas * nurseries * travel corridors Locations are represented as points (site) or polygons (area) and may be related to a specific species or described more generally. Wildlife values data is most often used to support policy and legislation associated with the Crown Forest Sustainability Act. The data may also be used to inform a wide range of resource management activities and decisions. There are additional sensitive features related to provincially tracked species and species at risk that are not available as part of the open data package. Sensitive features are subject to licensing and approvals and may be requested by contacting [geospatial@ontario.ca](geospatial@ontario.ca).

Land under administration and control of Government of Yukon and disposed of by the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources (EMR), Land Management Branch in the form of active licences of occupation. A licence grants permission to do something which without the licence would not be allowable. Land Management Branch licences typically permit the construction and maintenance of power, telephone, water or sewer utilities on Commissioner's land.
