Local Government Offices is a point dataset identifying local government offices in British Columbia.

The boundaries are established from either Land Claims Final Agreement, Self Government Agreement, Memorandum of Understanding, Local Advisory Area, or from a signed document between Yukon Government and First Nation. An Order in Council is prepared and the new boundary comes into effect. Older LAP's and Community Plans were approved by YG Minister and Cabinet as a policy document. Local government (LG) polygons are a graphical representation of the local government boundaries as defined in regulation 2022-50 under the Local Governance Act with an associated LG name attribute. Effective date is January 1, 2023.

The Specialized Municipality dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent Specialized Municipalities in Alberta. Specialized Municipality is a type of municipality which does not meet the needs of the residents of a proposed municipality such as City, Municipal District, Town or Village. but formed to provide for a form of local government that will provide for the orderly development of the municipality or by any other reason that is appropriate in the circumstances. Specialized municipalities are unique municipal structures that can be formed without resorting to special Acts of the legislature. Often, specialized municipalities allow urban and rural communities to coexist in a single municipal government.

ParcelMap BC is the current, complete and trusted mapped representation of titled and Crown land parcels across British Columbia, considered to be the point of truth for the graphical representation of property boundaries. It is not the authoritative source for the legal property boundary or related records attributes; this will always be the plan of survey or the related registry information. This particular dataset is a subset of the complete ParcelMap BC data and is comprised of the parcel fabric and attributes for over two million parcels published under the Open Government Licence - British Columbia. Tenure Areas are geographic administrative areas named for local features and used to group petroleum and natural gas Land Plats situated within the same local geographic area.

Spatial Identification of locations of municipalities and local service districts in Newfoundland and Labrador.

This dataset contains spatial and attribute data for local government Heritage Conservation Areas (HCAs) established for heritage conservation purposes in British Columbia, as tracked by BC Heritage Branch. Under the Local Government Act, a local government may designate a HCA within its Official Community Plan (OCP). An OCP may include a schedule of properties located within a Heritage Conservation Area that are considered to be protected heritage property. This is a multi-part polygon layer.

The Integrated Resource Plan - Local dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Local Integrated Resource Plans (IRP) in Alberta. A Local IRP provides land resource management direction for a relatively smaller geographic planning area. A Local Plan is developed to provide more detailed land and resource use parameters than may be available in a Sub-Regional Plan. An IRP is a plan which identifies the values and associated land and resource management goals for the planning area in consideration of the maintenance of social, economic, and ecological values. An IRP provides direction regarding the type of land and resource management activity that would facilitate meeting the stated objectives in the planning area (e.g. recreation, grazing, industrial and commercial activities). The public was often involved in contributing input to the development of an IRP. IRPs were endorsed by the Government of Alberta in various periods.

The __shíshálh Nation__ contains legally defined areas of land within the Province of British Columbia over which the shíshálh Nation exercises self-government, including the administration of resources and services available to its members, as described in the shíshálh Nation Self-Government Act of 1986. This spatial layer contains multipart features. Note that the name of the spatial layer is outdated; after the notification of retirement of the layer has been circulated the dataset will be recreated with the correct name. The source data for the geometry of the parcels was the federal "GeoBase - Aboriginal Lands" dataset, available under OGL - Canada. Parcels were adjusted to match provincial base mapping features, following the metes and bounds descriptions in the Letters Patent.
