Guidance on sampling effort to monitor mesozooplankton communities at Canadian bivalve aquaculture sites using an optical imaging system
As part of the development of a nationally-consistent sampling design within the Aquaculture Monitoring Program (AMP), this data reports mesozooplankton assemblages observed at nine coastal shellfish aquaculture sites, located across four DFO regions, with sampling across months, tide phases, and sampling locations. In most sites, strong spatial effects were observed, while tide effects were generally less important for structuring the mesozooplankton communities. Seasonality emerged as an essential factor to design an efficient monitoring program. This dataset represents the first large-scale Canadian coastal study using imaging technology for plankton taxonomic Identification.Cite this data as: Finnis, S., Guyondet, T., McKindsey, C.W., Arseneau, J., Barrell, J., Duhaime, J., Filgueira, R., Gallardi, D., Gaspard, D., Gibb, O., Goodwin, C., Hua, K., Macdonald, T., Milne, R., Lacoursière-Roussel, A. 2023. Zooplankton data from central and northern Strait of Georgia
Zooplankton data collected during surveys conducted in the central and northern Strait of Georgia, 1996-2018.
Cratonic Elements
This map service provides access to the Cratonic Elements dataset shown on the GeoAtlas application.**Please Note – All published Saskatchewan Geological Survey datasets, including those available through the Saskatchewan Mining and Petroleum GeoAtlas, are sourced from the Enterprise GIS Data Warehouse. They are therefore identical and share the same refresh schedule. This dataset shows the Cratonic Elements of the province of Saskatchewan at 1:1 million scale. This data was compiled using years of bedrock mapping, compiled into a file geodatabase feature class and output for public distribution.
British Columbia Geoduck (Panopea generosa) Age, Size Structure and Growth Parameters, 1993 - 2002
Biological samples of Geoduck Clams have been collected during surveys in British Columbia as part of the broader survey objectives of determining Geoduck density, distribution and population structure. Samples of Geoducks were collected from 41 locations throughout British Columbia between 1993 and 2002. Clams were measured for total weight, shell length, shell weight and were aged. Biological parameters are presented here for individual clams sampled. See Bureau D., W. Hajas, N.W. Surry, C.M. Hand, G. Dovey and A. Campbell. 2002. Age, size structure and growth parameters of Geoducks (Panopea abrupta, Conrad 1849) from 34 locations in British Columbia sampled between 1993 and 2000. Can Tech. Rep. Fish. Aquat. Age, size structure and growth parameters of Geoducks (Panopea abrupta, Conrad 1849) from seven locations in British Columbia sampled in 2001 and 2002. Can. Tech. Rep. Fish. Aquat. Sci. 2494: 29 p.
BCGS 1:2,500 Mapsheet Grid - NAD 27
BCGS 1:2,500 scale grid, North Amercian Datum 1927. The British Columbia Geographic System is a geographic system in which the coverage in minutes and seconds of longitude is double the coverage in minutes and seconds of latitude for sheets at all scales. This particular grid was generated in the older NAD27 datum to replicate historic Water Rights paper maps used by surface water rights management program
BCGS 1:10,000 Grid
BCGS 1:10,000 scale grid. The British Columbia Geographic System is a geographic system in which the coverage in minutes and seconds of longitude is double the coverage in minutes and seconds of latitude for sheets at all scales
BCGS 1:20,000 Grid
BCGS 1:20,000 scale grid. The British Columbia Geographic System is a geographic system in which the coverage in minutes and seconds of longitude is double the coverage in minutes and seconds of latitude for sheets at all scales
BCGS 1:2,500 Mapsheet Grid - NAD 83
BCGS 1:2,500 scale grid, North Amercian Datum 1983. The British Columbia Geographic System is a geographic system in which the coverage in minutes and seconds of longitude is double the coverage in minutes and seconds of latitude for sheets at all scales
The Strait of Georgia Ichthyoplankton Survey, 1979-1981
Ichthyoplankton surveys were conducted in the Strait of Georgia (British Columbia) during 1979-1981 to ascertain the onset of fish spawning, and to explore distributional pattern and estimate total biomass of fish species.Oblique tows were made using 0.25m2 Bongos equipped with 351 micron Nitex nets of modified SCOR design. All sampling gear was black to minimize potential avoidance and resulting catch bias. The tow procedure generally followed that established by CALCOFI.This dataset contains a compilation of corrected catches of juvenile fishes, fish eggs and fish larvae by station.
