Biodiversity of the snow crab trawl survey in Ste-Marguerite Bay, in the Gulf of St-Lawrence (2006-2009)
A research survey on snow crab (Chionoecetes opilio) was conducted from May 2006 to May 2009 in the Bay of Ste. Marguerite near Sept-Îles, Quebec. The main objective of this survey was to assess the abundance of snow crab and benthic species associated with snow crab habitat. Only data for benthic species associated with snow crab habitat are presented in this dataset.Data were collected according to a fixed station sampling design consisting of 79 stations, between 7 to 198 meters depth. Specimens were collected using a beam trawl. The codend was lined with a small stretched mesh net in order to harvest the small individuals. The hauls were made at a target duration of 15 minutes. Start and end positions were recorded to calculate the distance traveled on each tow using the geosphere library in R. The two files provided (DarwinCore format) are complementary and are linked by the "eventID" key. The "Activity_Information" file includes generic activity information, including date and location. The "occurrence_taxon" file includes the taxonomy of the species observed, identified to the species or lowest possible taxonomic level. To obtain the abundance and biomass assessment, contact Bernard Sainte-Marie (Bernard.Sainte-Marie@dfo-mpo.gc.ca).For quality controls, all taxonomic names were checked against the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS) to match recognized standards. The WoRMS match was placed in the "ScientificnameID" field of the occurrence file. Data quality checks were performed using the R obistools and worrms libraries. All sampling locations were spatially validated.
Martimes Summer Research Vessel Survey
“Summer” missions occur in June, July and August and these focus on the Scotian Shelf and Bay of Fundy (i.e. 4VWX 5Yb, expanding recently to include the Laurentian Channel and Georges Bank (5Zc). Collected data includes total catch in numbers and weights by species. Length frequency data is available for most species, as are the age, sex, maturity and weight information for a subset of the individual animals. Other data such as ageing material, genetic material, and stomach contents are often also collected, but are stored elsewhere.“Summer” cruises occur in May, June, July and August and these focus on the Scotian Shelf and Bay of Fundy (i.e. 4VWX).Cite this data as: Clark, D., Emberley, J. Tower
Towers -- structures or buildings that are typically higher than their diameter and high relative to their surroundings -- are shown in this data set. They include: * communication towers * fire towers * microwave towers * radio towers * navigation beacons * lighthouses * lightning locators * meteorological towers
Predictive model of graphite
This model is derived from geological, geophysical and other forms of geodata. Feature extraction used deep learning. Predictive modelling made use of the deep ensemble method. Displayed is a Pan-Canadian probability map of mineral potential of graphite. This map was generated using known graphite deposits and occurrences and their associated features. Higher probability values highlight areas with an increased probability of graphite mineral systems.

Forecasted Basin-Average Accumulated Precipitation (ECMWF - 7 Days)
This polygon layer displays sub-basin-level average precipitation derived from the ECMWF (European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts) model. This layer helps hydrologists, forecasters, and planners see how much rainfall/snowfall is predicted or has occurred in each sub-basin, supporting medium-range water resource and flood management. We are intersested in the forecast period of 7 days. This layer aggregates ECMWF forecast precipitation over polygonal sub-basins. Each feature includes attributes for average accumulated precipitation, forecast run/valid times, and sub-basin identifiers. ECMWF is a leading global model offering medium-range (up to 10 days) forecasts at a high skill level. By focusing on sub-basins, this layer aids in local-scale decision-making—enabling more precise flood risk assessments, reservoir inflow estimates, and water resource planning across the region of interest.
Patch Size Assessment Amalgamation Units for the Cariboo Natural Resource Region
This dataset is a combination of landscape unit, biogeoclimatic zone/subzone/variants and Cariboo Chilcotin Land Use Plan leading group type (PineGroup or FirGroup) that patch size assessments are carried out on. Refer to the **Cariboo Regional Biodiversity Conservation Strategy Update Note #4: An Approach for Patch Size Assessments in the Cariboo Forest Region** (see below under "Related Links") for more information on how patch size assessment amalgamation units are derived.
