Canadian Digital Surface Model, 2000
This is a legacy product that is no longer supported. It may not meet current government standards.The Canadian Digital Surface Model (CDSM) is part of Natural Resources Canada's altimetry system designed to better meet the users' needs for elevation data and products. The 0.75-second (~20 m) CDSM consists of a derived product from the original 1-second (30 m) Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM) digital surface model (DSM). In these data, the elevations are captured at the top of buildings, trees, structures, and other objects rather than at ground level.A CDSM mosaic can be obtained for a pre-defined or user-defined extent. The coverage and resolution of a mosaic varies according to the extent of the requested area.Derived products such as slope, shaded relief and colour shaded relief maps can also be generated on demand by using the Geospatial-Data Extraction tool. Data can then be saved in many formats.The pre-packaged GeoTiff datasets are based on the National Topographic System of Canada (NTS) at the 1:50 000 scale; the NTS index file is available in the Resources section in many formats.
Geophysics Residual Magnetic Total Fields - 50m
The Yukon is underlain by a great variety of rock types ranging in age from Early Proterozoic to Recent. The various rock types are characterized by different magnetic intensity and this map shows those variations at the regional scale, with highly magnetic rocks represented by warm colours and non-magnetic rocks shown in cool colours. The Residual Total Field magnetic map shows a measure of the total magnetic intensity in the Earth's crust. This magnetic compilation was extracted from the compilation of Oneschuk et al. (2019). Canada Geological Map Compilation
The Canada Geological Map Compilation (CGMC) is a database of previously published bedrock geological maps sourced from provincial, territorial, and other geological survey organizations. The geoscientific information included within these source geological maps wasstandardized, translated to English, and combined to provide complete coverage of Canada and support a range of down-stream machine learning applications. Detailed lithological, mineralogical, metamorphic, lithostratigraphic, and lithodemic information was not previously available as onenational-scale product. The source map data was also enhanced by correcting geometry errors and through the application of a new hierarchical generalized lithology classification scheme to subdivide the original rocks types into 35 classes. Each generalized lithology is associated with asemi-quantitative measure of classification uncertainty. Lithostratigraphic and lithodemic names included within the source maps were matched with the Lexicon of Canadian Geological Names (Weblex) wherever possible and natural language processing was used to transform all of the available text-basedinformation into word tokens. Overlapping map polygons and boundary artifacts across political boundaries were not addressed as part of this study. As a result, the CGMC is a patchwork of overlapping bedrock geological maps with varying scale (1:30,000-1:5,000,000), publication year (1996-2023), andreliability. Preferred geological and geochronological maps of Canada are presented as geospatial rasters based on the best available geoscientific information extracted from these overlapping polygons for each map pixel. New higher resolution geological maps will be added over time to fill datagaps and to update geoscientific information for future applications of the CGMC.
Road network - RTSS
The Quebec road network, which is managed by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD), is represented on the interactive map according to the functional class of roads: Highway, National, Regional, Collector, Local 1-2-3, Local 1-2-3, Access resources, Access to resources and isolated locations. Some routes in the dataset are also under federal management or in public-private partnerships (PPP). The road network is inventoried according to the MTMD linear reference system. The linear reference is expressed under the acronym RTSS (Road, Section, Section, Sub-road). The inventoried roads are composed of a 14-character alphanumeric code and an associated measure called chaining (distance measured in meters). An inventoried route will therefore have a starting link (always 0) and an end link representing its length. Thus, the chaining value of a point can be extrapolated precisely to this point.
