Forest Miscellaneous Damage Event
Miscellaneous events are often the result of the cumulative impact of a combination of abiotic, insect and disease agents or events. For example, Aspen decline where repeated infestations of Forest Tent Caterpillar, are combined with several seasons of prolonged drought. The Government of Ontario tracks forest damage events to help proactively manage the detrimental effects to our forests. We monitor the threat and spread of invasive forest pest insect species in Ontario. The data is also important to the Forest Management Planning process in calculating timber volume loss within affected areas. This product requires the use of geographic information system (GIS) software.
Canada's National Earthquake Scenario Catalogue - Queen Charlotte Fault - Magnitude 8.0
In 1949 a magnitude 8.1 earthquake occurred on the Queen Charlotte Fault, off the west coast of the Haida Gwaii archipelago. This magnitude 8.0 scenario along the Queen Charlotte Fault is slightly different and closer to population centres than the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that occurred in 2012.

Canada's National Earthquake Scenario Catalogue - Mystery Lake - Magnitude 5.0
A magnitude 5 earthquake scenario along an unnamed fault located about 15 km north-northeast of Burnaby City Hall and directly south of Mt Elsay. This fault is not known to be active, but this scenario represents a small but damaging event in the North Shore Mountains.
National Inventory of Orphaned and Abandoned Mines
This database aggregates basic information on orphaned and abandoned mine sites from participating Canadian jurisdictions, including their name, location, jurisdiciton, and the commodity that was mined. It was originally created in 2012 through the National Orphaned/Abandoned Mines Initiative and has undergone several updates since that time. Data on sites in each jurisdiction is owned and maintained by that jurisdiction. The database includes links to the corresponding records in that jursidiction. While the database includes common informaiton about all sites, there may be discrepancies in the types of data provided about sites in different jurisdictions and data from some jurisdictions may be updated more frequently than others.

NAFO Division 4T Sentinel Trawl Survey Data
PURPOSE:Since 2003, a standardized otter trawl survey was conducted in August by commercial fishing vessels throughout the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence (NAFO Division 4T). The primary objective of this survey is to obtain abundance indices for the major commercial groundfish resources in the area.DESCRIPTION:Tow, catch, and length frequency for fish caught during the August sentinel surveys in the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence (NAFO Division 4T). Abundance indices and spatial distribution patterns of commercial groundfish.Note: Due to delays caused by logistic complexities and Covid, the project did not take place in 2020 PARAMETERS COLLECTED:Abundance estimates (ecological); distribution (ecological); species counts (ecological); gear (fishing); vessel information (fishing); point (spatial).NOTES ON QUALITY CONTROL:Scientific names listed in the survey species list have been mapped to recognized standards - marine taxa have been mapped to the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS) using their online taxon match tool. However, the National Earthquake Database makes available seismic bulletin data from 1985 and onward. Lac-Mégantic accident: aerial photography by Aéro-Photo after the incident (July 10, 2013)
On July 6, a train of 72 cars, carrying 100 tons of crude oil each, exploded in Lac-Mégantic. A high-resolution aerial photograph was collected by Aéro-Photo after the train derailment. This aerial photograph was provided and georeferenced by Aéro-Photo (1961) inc. Purpose: This aerial photograph makes it possible to identify the impact radius of the accident. The image web service (WMS) is offered as an open service. Telemetry
The documented occurrence data package contains 3 datasets that, in combination, help to provide generalized information about woodland caribou locations and survey areas in Saskatchewan. This information may assist users in their efforts to avoid or mitigate impacts to woodland caribou when operating in woodland caribou range. Generalized locations of caribou use have been provided to better reflect their large home ranges. Absence of a hexagon in an area should not be interpreted as absence of woodland caribou.Please read the Data Guide for important information about this product. The Woodland Caribou Documented Occurrence public data product is composed of three shapefiles/feature classes: 1. Woodland Caribou Occurrence - Sighting and Sign 2. Woodland Caribou Occurrence - Telemetry 3. Woodland Caribou Survey Boundaries The two occurrence datasets contain a grid of 18 sq km hexagons (tessellation). The inclusion of a hexagon in the dataset indicates that one or more animal sightings or sign, or telemetry points have been documented in that area. Importantly, lack of caribou occurrence (e.g. no hexagon) should not be interpreted as absence of woodland caribou. Rather, data may not have been collected in these areas or incidental or other observations have not been received. The survey boundaries dataset displays the boundaries of woodland caribou surveys that were completed by or in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment from 2005 to 2024. Boundaries are from multiple sources, and include various types of surveys (fecal pellet collection or telemetry). These boundaries provide context when viewed alongside the woodland caribou occurrence datasets. We expect to see more occurrence locations in areas that have been surveyed. This information may provide context to areas with a seemingly higher number of occurrences.
