Mineral Tenure in Nunavut - Mineral Claims
* This dataset is updated on a daily basis. The ‘Record Modified’ date refers to the last metadata update. This dataset contains the extent of mineral claims held in Nunavut. A mineral claim is an area of Crown Land that is selected using the Nunavut Map Selection system by an individual or mineral exploration company that holds a valid licence to prospect. This grants the individual or mineral exploration company the mineral rights to the recorded area as provided for under the Nunavut Mining Regulations, SOR/2014-69. If the holder of a mineral claim wishes to produce minerals from the claim, or to hold it for more than thirty years, the holder must apply for a lease of the claim. This digital coverage provides a record and tracking mechanism for mining exploration in Nunavut. For more information, visit https://www.rcaanc-cirnac.gc.ca/eng/1100100036000/1547749889500. Note: This is one of the four (4) datasets that describe mineral tenure in Nunavut. It includes mineral claims, mining leases, prospecting permits as well as coal exploration licences.
Base Hydrography Point Event
The Base Hydrography Point Event layer contains hydrographic point features representing the locations of water or water related features captured through the 1:20000 Provincial Base Mapping Project, the 1:50000 Resource Access Mapping Program, the Alberta Vegetation Inventory Program and the Federal Government National Topographic Data Base 1:50000 mapping.
Mineral Tenure in Nunavut - Prospecting Permits
* This dataset is updated on a daily basis. The ‘Record Modified’ date refers to the last metadata update. This dataset contains the extent of prospecting permits in Nunavut. A prospecting permit allows prospecting in a large area without competition for a period of three or five years, and gives the holder the exclusive rights to select a mineral claim within that area. For more information, visit https://www.rcaanc-cirnac.gc.ca/eng/1100100036000/1547749889500.Note: This is one of the four (4) datasets that describe mineral tenure in Nunavut. Geotechnical borehole point
Geotechnical data comes from investigations performed by geotechnical engineers to obtain information on the physical properties of soil and rock underlying a site for proposed structures. The investigations include surface exploration and subsurface exploration of a site. In addition, site investigations will often include subsurface sampling and laboratory testing of the soil samples retrieved. The digging of test pits and trenching may also be used to learn about soil conditions at depth. Geotechnical data is relevant to our permafrost database as it contains logs of ice encountered at various depths.Yukon Geological Survey has been compiling geotechnical data from various organizations and branches. The main datasets being compiled are the following:Northern Climate ExchangeCommunity Services, Land BranchEnergy Mines and Resources, Abandoned MinesTransportation Engineering BranchAlaska Highway Borehole DatabaseAgriculture soil profilesDistributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) .
