Greenbelt river valley connections
The purpose of this dataset is to identify the location of river valley connections.
Bedrock Thalwegs of Pelican River Area, Alberta (NTS 83P) (GIS data, thalweg line features)
The data represent the locations of thalwegs (paleo-channels) incised in the bedrock surface. Segments of three major buried valleys are present: the Wiau Valley and the Leismer Valley in the northeast, and the south to northwest-trending Amesbury Valley in the central portion of the area.
Bedrock Thalwegs of Peerless Lake Area, Alberta (NTS 84B) (GIS data, thalweg line features)
The data represent the locations of thalwegs (paleo-channels) incised in the bedrock surface. Segments of three major buried valleys are present: the Muskwa Valley, the Red Earth Valley and Gods Valley in the northeastern portion of the area.
Big Valley Structure
These structure, isopach and zero edge files are part of a series of stratigraphic framework maps for the Saskatchewan Phanerozoic Fluids and Petroleum Systems (SPFPS) project. The series of stratigraphic framework maps for the Saskatchewan Phanerozoic Fluids and Petroleum Systems (SPFPS) project have been produced using 2 km equi-spaced modified grids generated from Golden Software’s Surfer 9 kriging algorithm. The dataset used to produce each of the maps in this series was created using data from several projects completed by the Ministry (Christopher, 2003; Saskatchewan Industry and Resources et al., 2004; Kreis et al., 2004; Marsh and Heinemann, 2006; Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources et al., 2007; Heinemann and Marsh, 2009); these data were validated and edited as required to facilitate correlations between the various regional projects. In addition, to minimize edge effects during contouring, the senior author also generated stratigraphic data from wells in adjacent jurisdictions.
Elk Valley Water Quality Plan
The Elk Valley Area Based Management Plan (ABMP) - “Elk Valley Water Quality Plan” was developed according to Ministerial Order No. 113 to remediate water quality effects of past coal mining and to guide future development. The Elk Valley Water Quality Plan was developed by Teck with input from the public, First Nations, governments, technical experts and other stakeholders. The purpose of the Plan is to identify a strategy and implement solutions to address increasing selenium and nitrate water concentrations within the Valley, and assess and track levels of cadmium and sulphate in waters; while at the same time allowing for continued sustainable mining in the Valley. The Plan also lays out a strategy to address calcite formation associated with historical and current mining activity. The Plan was submitted to the British Columbia Minister of Environment for approval on July 22, 2014. The ministry amended the Elk Valley ABMP in 2025. Qu'Appelle Valley Lakes system – Topography and Imagery 2008
The’ Qu'Appelle Valley Lakes system – Topography and Imagery’ series consists of topographic and imagery data for lakes within the Qu'Appelle River Valley in central Saskatchewan. This data was collected in the fall of 2008 and consists of contour lines, shorelines, spot heights, tile index, and imagery
Hydro-conditioned LiDAR DEM of catchments near Swan Lake, Pembina River Watershed
This LiDAR DEM, originated from the Government of Manitoba (2019-05), was hydro-conditioned with a recent culvert inventory including GIS data from the Province of Manitoba for provincial highways as well as hard copy maps from the Rural Municipality of Lorne. It also included GPS and desktop surveys as part of a collaborative effort between Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Swan Lake First Nation, and Pembina Valley Watershed District. The hydro-conditioned DEM was used by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) as input for hydrological modelling of catchments near Swan Lake flowing into the Pembina River (Pembina River Watershed, MB) to spatially target water-related agricultural beneficial management practices (e.g, flood management infrastructure, water retention structures, nutrient and sediment load reduction practices). The DEM spatial extent represents the area of interest referred to as the “Swan Lake Study Area”, as part of the Eastern Prairies Living Lab, AAFC (2019-2023).
Qu’Appelle Valley Lakes system – Spot Height Points 2008
Spot Height Points for the Pasqua, Crooked, Echo, and Round Lakes area within the Qu'Appelle Valley River system in Saskatchewan
Qu’Appelle Valley Lakes system – Imagery 2008
50 cm Aerial photography for the Pasqua, Crooked, Echo, and Round Lakes within the Qu'Appelle Valley River system in Saskatchewan
Canada's National Earthquake Scenario Catalogue - Gloucester Fault - Magnitude 5.6
A magnitude 5.6 rupture scenario near Ottawa along the Gloucester Fault in the south of the city. This fault is not known to be active, but this scenario is representative of seismicity in the Ottawa Valley.
