Seafloor photographs, offshore Canada
Photographs of the seabed have been collected during marine expeditions of the Geological Survey of Canada Atlantic and Pacific for over 50 years. Typically, a sequence of 10 to 20 photos are taken at a single station as the vessel drifts with prevailing winds and currents and the camera is repeatedly lowered to and raised from the seafloor. The suite of photos from each station may best be considered a representative ensemble from the proximal area. Only in the more recent expeditions, where differential GPS and ultra-short baseline positioning is used in camera positioning, is the relative positional information given for each photo meaningful in interpreting the sequence as a transect. Reduced-scale, thumbnail photos are displayed for the sequence of photos taken at each station. Each photo is labelled with the expedition id, the station number and the photo number.
Lac-Mégantic accident: aerial photography by Aéro-Photo after the incident (July 10, 2013)
On July 6, a train of 72 cars, carrying 100 tons of crude oil each, exploded in Lac-Mégantic. A high-resolution aerial photograph was collected by Aéro-Photo after the train derailment. This aerial photograph was provided and georeferenced by Aéro-Photo (1961) inc. Purpose: This aerial photograph makes it possible to identify the impact radius of the accident. Manitoba Waterbody Entry Points
This point layer dataset contains information on Manitoba waterbody access points including boat launches, overland routes and tunnels.Waterbody Entry Points contains point data primarily of boat launches in Manitoba, but it also includes overland routes and tunnel access to some waterbodies. Each data point has a description of the type of access as well as photos that detail signage and condition of the entry point. The waterbody entry points layer, along with related information, can be found at the Manitoba Lake Information For Anglers app. The project was initiated by Manitoba Wildlife and Fisheries Branch with funding from the Fish and Wildlife Enhancement Fund. Data is provided by Manitoba Wildlife and Fisheries Branch, Swan Valley Sport Fishing and Manitoba Watershed Districts. For additional information visit Manitoba Fisheries. The dataset includes the following fields (Alias (Name): Description) Waterbody ID (WATERBODY_ID): Unique identifier for an individual waterbody. Waterbody Name (WATERBODY_NAME): Name of the waterbody that the entry point belongs to. Entry Type (ENTRY_TYPE): Indicates the type of entry point (e.g. boat launch, tunnel). Photo 1 (PHOTO_1): Link to a photo of the launch/entry point. Photo 2 (PHOTO_2): Link to a photo of the launch/entry point. Photo 3 (PHOTO_3): Link to a photo of the launch/entry point. Long (DD) (LONG_DD): Longitudinal coordinates of the feature in decimal degrees. Lat (DD) (LAT_DD): Latitudinal coordinates of the feature in decimal degrees.

National Forest Inventory Photo Plot Summary on Land Use
Canada’s NFI survey was designed to provide an unbiased probability sample of Canada’s forests for long-term strategic monitoring purposes. The target population is Canada’s entire non-Arctic land area. A National Terrestrial Monitoring Framework (NTMF) was created by establishing a systematic 4 km by 4 km sampling grid over all of Canada from a random offshore point. Prior to T0, NFI partners determined that the NFI program would be able to affordably achieve its mission by establishing a 2 km by 2 km (400 ha) “photo plot” at every fifth sampling point on the NTMF (i.e. every 20 km), thereby providing a one percent sample of the target population. This sampling intensity was considered sufficient for national reporting and possible to sustain over the long term with anticipated funding.Photo plots were established across Canada during 2000-2006 (T0). There are 26,139 photo plot survey locations on the 20 km by 20 km grid, of which 18,570 lie inside the target population area. For each photo plot, information is collected on land cover, land use, ownership and protection status.NFI photo plot survey data are stratified by “NFI Unit” for standard estimation and reporting purposes. NFI Units were created by the geographic intersection of Canada’s 10 provinces, 3 territories and 12 non-Arctic terrestrial ecozones. Estimates produced for NFI Units are rolled up to produce standard reports for ecozones, jurisdictions (provinces and territories) and Canada. Some NFI Units are too small to produce robust estimates for with the current sampling intensity, so NFI Unit estimates are not publicly reported.
