The spatial representation of the 5 Mining Regions for the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation (EMLI). Wildlife Key Areas (WKA) are locations used by wildlife for critical, seasonal life functions. WKAs are identified by interpreting observed locations of wildlife at key times of year, not through intensive habitat assessment. Polygons derived from interviews with locals and from GIS interpretation of wildlife/habitat surveys. GIS interpretation follows criteria specific for taxon and/or populations of taxon. Key Areas are based on observed locations of wildlife at key times of year, not on habitat assessment. With new information, boundaries and designations of Key Areas can change and additional Key Areas can be identified. Furthermore, Key Areas are not the only sites important for wildlife. Other information sources can identify other sites important for wildlife for reasons outside the scope of the WKA Inventory Program. Updates to Key Areas occur only periodically. As part of the International Polar Year (IPY) 2007'08 and 2008'09 activities, and related objectives of the Commission for the Geological Map of the World (CGMW), nations of the circumpolar Arctic have co-operated to produce a new bedrock geology map and related digital map database at a scale of 1:5 000 000. The map, released in north polar stereographic projection using the World Geodetic System (WGS) 84 datum, includes complete geological and physiographic coverage of all onshore and offshore bedrock areas north of latitude 60° north.

Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) regions were created to help manage ministry programs and resources at a regional level. Extents of the regions were originally compiled by description of: metes and bounds, topographic features, geographic township boundaries, territorial district boundaries, etc. MNR regions consist of a number of districts. This product requires the use of geographic information system (GIS) software.

RHAs/Health Regions are geographic areas which are used to define populations and catchment areas for the administration and delivery of health services. This file provides RHA boundaries for cartographic and analytical purposes.Within Manitoba there are five Regional Health Authorities (or "RHAs") responsible for the delivery of health services in five specific areas of the province described in the legislation as "health regions." (In practice, the terms "health region" and "RHA" are often used interchangeably to describe these geographic areas.). This file contains boundaries for the health regions for each Regional Health Authority in Manitoba. Fields included (Alias (Field Name): Field description.) RHA Code (RHACODE): Two-digit numeric code which uniquely identifies a specific legislatively defined RHA RHA Name (RHAName): This field contains a simple name for each RHA, suitable for use as a label, in English. Nom de l'office régionale de la santé (RHANomFr): This field contains a simple name for each RHA, suitable for use as a label, in French. RHA Area - total (sq km) (RHAArea): The calculated geodesic area, in square kilometres, of the area within a given RHA's boundaries. RHA Area - excludes major lakes (sq km) (LandArea): The calculated geodesic area, in square kilometres, of the area within a given RHA's boundaries, with the area of major lakes excluded. For population density calculations, we recommend the use of this area value. The following major lakes have been excluded: Lake Winnipeg, Lake Manitoba, Lake Winnipegosis, and Cedar Lake.

The Global Ice-Ocean Prediction System (GIOPS) produces global sea ice and ocean analyses and 10 day forecasts daily. This product contains time-mean sea ice and ocean forecast fields interpolated to two grids. One of the grids is a 0.2° resolution regular latitude-longitude grid covering the global ocean (north of 80° S). The other grid is in north-polar stereographic projection with a 5-km spacing at the standard parallel 60° N and covers the Arctic Ocean and the neighbouring sub-polar seas. Data is available for 50 depths. The data files are in netCDF format and comply with the Climate and Forecast Conventions.

Records of marine mammal sightings (N = 5,324) collected by ASOs and submitted to Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) between 1979-2024, across three DFO regions: the Arctic, Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Maritimes. Methods for initial data compilation are provided in the associated technical report "Marine mammal records collected by the at-sea observer (ASO) program in Arctic, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Maritimes regions: a summary of challenges and opportunities for future research." The Inuit Regions, also known as the Inuit Nunangat, dataset contains the geographical boundaries of the 4 Inuit Regions in Canada: Inuvialuit, Nunavut, Nunavik and Nunatsiavut. The boundaries, land only, have been drawn as per information defined in each land claim agreement. The marine boundaries of the 4 Inuit Regions will soon be available. The Inuit Regions (Inuit Nunangat) geographical boundaries are approximate and should be used for illustration purposes only.This dataset is Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) official source for Inuit regions on maps.

The Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Regions dataset is comprised of the polygons representing Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Regions in Alberta. Alberta Public Safety and Emergency Services, Government of Alberta, manages the Fish and Wildlife enforcement services to provide the public and other government departments' information regarding the locations of Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Regions throughout the province.

These boundaries are kept for historic purposes only. The Environment and Sustainable Resource Development Operations Regions dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the operations regions established for the Ministry of Environment and Parks to provide environmentally responsible services and management of the province's sustainable resources. Environment and Sustainable Resource Development Operations Regions were approved and effective May 29, 2013. These regions were made obsolete when the Ministry of Environment and Parks split into the Ministry of Forestry and Parks and the Ministry of Environment and Protected Areas.
