The spatial record for all the province's geographic areas affected by provincial level, area-specific land use policy. To obtain information in French, please contact the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry at (1-800-667-1940)._ The [Ontario Tree Seed Transfer Policy](https://www.ontario.ca/page/ontario-tree-seed-transfer-policy?share=8d041da0-f8f3-11ea-8b1a-e3b1c683b5f9) ensures that seed used to regenerate forests has a good chance of producing trees that are adapted to their growing environment. It specifies where seed can be collected and used and the conditions under which seed may be transferred. The data is provided as part of Appendix 1 of the Ontario Tree Seed Transfer Policy. It is available in both table and map formats , and also includes CSV and shape files. __Tabular display__ This dataset includes three tables that show the spatial direction of the seed transfer policy based on the climate similarity analysis (refer to Appendix 1 of the policy for information on the climate similarity analysis): * Table 1. Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation 2021
The Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation (CIMD) is an area-based index which used 2021 Census of Population microdata to measure four key dimensions of deprivation at the dissemination area (DA)-level: residential instability, economic dependency, situational vulnerability and ethno-cultural composition.Using factor analysis, DA-level factor scores were calculated for each dimension. Within a dimension, ordered scores were assigned a quintile value, 1 through 5, where 1 represents the least deprived and 5 represents the most deprived.The CIMD allows for an understanding of inequalities in various measures of health and social well-being. While it is a geographically-based index of deprivation and marginalization, it can also be used as a proxy for an individual. The CIMD has the potential to be widely used by researchers on a variety of topics related to socio-economic research. Other uses for the index may include: policy planning and evaluation, or resource allocation.*** Correction October 22, 2024 ***A correction has been made to the variables in the following downloadable 2021 CIMD index datasets : Canada, Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario, Prairies, and British-Columbia. This correction impacts all the data in these datasets.

Mineral Restrictions
A mineral restriction is in place to limit and define mineral exploration and development within the Alberta government's mandate to protect natural or historical sites and to manage mineral resources. Examples of mineral restrictions include Bird Sanctuary, Provincial Park, and Coal Mine Licence Area. Restriction types with different levels of surface access are the result of government policy and all are mineral or substance specific.
Eastern Slopes Land Use Zoning
The Eastern Slopes Land Use Zoning dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent Eastern Slopes Land Use Zones in Alberta. The dataset was created as a basis to provide analysis for nominating Special Places sites for later designation, under the Special Places 2000 Project. Don Getty Wildland Provincial Park (which comprised mainly of Zone 1 - Prime Protection & Zone 2 - Critical Wildlife) is one of the examples. Except designated natural areas. zoning and any associated policy direction for managing resources and surface access on the general Crown lands within these land use zones do not apply to lands that have been designated as a park or protected area under the Provincial Parks Act, the Willmore Wilderness Park Act or the Wilderness Areas, Ecological Reserves, Natural Areas and Heritage Rangelands Act. This dataset was compiled from many Integrated Resource Plans (IRP) studies as well as the Eastern Slopes Policy which were used in the former Special Places 2000 Project planning process.
Fishing Effort in Canada’s Atlantic and Eastern Arctic Waters
In 2009, Fisheries and Oceans Canada published the Policy on Managing the Impacts of Fishing on Sensitive Benthic Areas. To support the implementation of this policy, a Canadian Science Advisory Secretariat (CSAS) process was initiated to: assess the distribution of fishing effort in Canada’s Atlantic and Eastern Arctic waters from 2005-2014, evaluate the overlap between fishing effort and Significant Benthic Areas (SiBAs), and identify areas of potential conservation concern. Although Research Document 2018/15 (Koen-Alonso et al. 2018), detailing this work, has not been updated since publication, the methodology outlined within it is still used to generate updated fishing effort layers as new data becomes available. This record illustrates cumulative fishing effort in Canada’s Atlantic and Eastern Arctic waters from 2005-2023, and is based on commercial logbook and vessel monitoring system (VMS) data. Fishing effort has been standardized into percentiles, whereby the top 20th percentile of intensity (cell values ≥20) represent cells containing the most intense fishing activities.
