Projects and Transformative Strategies Referred to the Major Projects Office
In August 2025 the Major Projects Office was launched, with the mandate to advance major projects in Canada and streamline federal regulatory project approval. This dataset was created to provide open access to key information about the projects and transformative strategies that have been referred to the Major Projects Office. This dataset can be layered with other data available on the Open Science and Data Platform. By accessing this data, users can conduct more comprehensive analyses to support evidence-based decision-making and inform regulatory processes including future impact assessments. Please visit the Major Projects Office for more information.
Major Projects Inventory
Natural Resources Canada’s Major Projects Inventory published annually, provides a snapshot of major natural resource projects in Canada that are either currently under construction or are planned within the next 10 years. The inventory includes major projects that increase, extend or improve natural resource production in Canada, including new extraction projects, infrastructure projects, major processing facilities and large expansion projects. In addition, the inventory includes information on the value, timing and geographic location of projects. To be included in the inventory, projects in the energy and mining sectors must meet a minimum capital worth threshold of $50 million and electricity and forest sector projects must meet a threshold of $20 million. Also included in the inventory are clean energy and clean technology projects, which must meet a minimum capital worth threshold of $10 million.DISCLAIMER: Data is sourced from federal, provincial, and territorial databases, publicly accessible websites, and other sources, including CANOILS. Data and maps are for illustrative purposes only. Users understand that, although all efforts have been made to accurately and exhaustively compile, locate and classify projects, the authors do not guarantee the accuracy and/or the comprehensiveness of the data and assume no responsibility for errors or omissions. The routes of the proposed transmission lines and pipelines are approximations, often using only start and end points. In support of this initiative, proponents and partners are encouraged to contact Natural Resources Canada should they identify any significant errors or omissions.

Top 100 Exploration Projects
This dataset provides information related to the top-spending off-mine-site exploration and deposit appraisal projects in Canada for the given reference year. The dataset is maintained by the Lands and Minerals Sector, Natural Resources Canada, and forms the basis for the annual Map of Top 100 Exploration and Deposit Appraisal Projects in Canada.Related product:- **[Principal Mineral Areas, Producing Mines, and Oil and Gas Fields (900A)](https://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/000183ed-8864-42f0-ae43-c4313a860720)**

Essential Skills Training Projects
The Essential Skills Playbook projects map is developed to highlight projects featured as part of the “Essential Skills Playbook” published by the Office of Literacy and Essential Skills program (OLES) at Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). The playbook is developed as a showcase for sharing promising practices, case studies and partnerships, based on OLES projects that were funded through grants and contributions generally dating back to 2012. This map allows users to visualize OLES-funded projects and explore various data variables such as the targeted groups, essential skills, and industry sectors of each project.
Critical minerals advanced projects, mines and processing facilities in Canada
This dataset contains primary processing facilities (e.g., smelters and refineries), mines and advanced projects related to Canada’s 34 critical minerals. Advanced projects are those with mineral reserves or resources (measured or indicated), the potential viability of which is supported by a preliminary economic assessment or a prefeasibility/feasibility study. These sites process, produce or consider producing at least one of Canada's critical minerals, but other minerals and metals may also be present. This dataset contains links that direct to non-Government of Canada websites that are not subject to the Privacy Act, the Official Languages Act or the Standard on Web Accessibility. Please see our terms and conditions for more information (https://www.nrcan.gc.ca/terms-and-conditions/10847).Primary processing facilities and mines data are sourced from Map 900A, Principal mineral areas, producing mines, and oil and gas fields in Canada. Data on advanced critical minerals projects are produced and published annually by Natural Resources Canada, in collaboration with provinces and territories. Data are compiled from a variety of public sources. Natural Resources Canada does not assume responsibility for errors or omissions. Please report any recommended revisions.
Projects funded by the EVAFIDI, ZEVIP, and CHRI infrastructure programs
Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) and Electric Vehicle and Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Deployment Initiative (EVAFIDI) qualitative, quantitative, and geographic data set derived from the program database. This data defines the project number, the number of chargers, the name of the promoter, the type of connector, the address, the city, the province, the postal code, the geographical coordinates, the status, the opening date, and the type of contribution agreement for each project funded by the program. The Canada Infrastructure Bank’s (CIB) Charging and Hydrogen Refuelling Infrastructure Initiative (CHRI) aims to reduce transportation sector greenhouse gas emissions by accelerating the private sector’s rollout of large-scale ZEV chargers and hydrogen refuelling stations, helping to spur the market for private investment.Through this initiative, the CIB has dedicated a minimum of $500 million to support the federal government’s goals as part of Canada’s 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan. Technology funding current to 30 June 2025.

Multi Year Investment Strategy
This is the 5 year investment plan for Manitoba Highway and Infrastructure Capital Projects. This dataset will show all the proposed infrastructure projects for the next 5 years. This Feature layer is similar to the "Manitoba Capital Plans Project Status" and will be updated once a year. This dataset contains points showing the locations of the capital projects such as asphalt surface treatment, grading, bituminous rehabilitation, concrete reconstruction, culvert jacking, intersection improvement, structures improvement, traffic signal improvements, and traffic safety improvements. This dataset was created by digitizing high-resolution imagery of Manitoba road network, bridge sites, and culvert locations. The details of the capital projects are available as attributes of the dataset.Fields included (Alias (Field Name): Field description.)Hwy (Hwy): The highway number where the project is located. Location Description (Location_Description): A detailed description of the project location. Project Distance in km (km): The physical length of the project Project Type (Project_Type): A particular category assigned to the project based on the nature of work. Investment Category : (Investment_Category): Category of future investment for the project. (Ex: Renewal, Economic Development, Connectivity and Innovation, Climate Resiliency) Municipality Name (MUNI_NAME): The name of the municipality where the project is located. Department Program (Department_Program): The name of the MI department responsible for the project. This dataset is used in Manitoba Infrastructure Projects an interactive map that shows Manitoba infrastructure's new, approved, and continuing capital project locations.
