Railways
The Base Features Access Railway spatial layer is the authoritative source of railway data for the province of Alberta. It is a part of the Access data collection which also includes roads, powerlines, cutlines and trails, and industrial facilities.
Railway Point Events
This layer contains point representation of railway stations and bridges along the Alberta railway network.
National Railway Network - NRWN - GeoBase Series
The National Rail Network (NRWN) is a geometric and attributive description of the Canadian rail network. The NRWN product consists of the features classes: Track Segment, Railway Crossing, Railway Station, Marker Post, Junction and Railway Structure. Descriptive attributes include amongst others: Track Classification, Track Name, Track Operator, Track User, Track Owner, Subdivision Name, Junction Type, Crossing Type, Level of Crossing, Warning System, Transport Canada Identifier, Station Name, Station Type, Station User, Structure Type.
Utilities and Communications
UTC - Utility and communication networks (utilitiesCommunication) Energy, water and waste systems, and communications infrastructure and services. For example, resources describing hydroelectricity; geothermal, solar, and nuclear sources of energy; water purification and distribution; sewage collection and disposal; electricity and gas distribution; data communication; telecommunication; radio; and communication networks.
Ministry of Transportation (MOT) Railroad Crossing
A Railroad Crossing is where the road surface is common to both the Railway Authority and the Ministry of Transportation Road Network; also includes overhead and under passes. It is a Point feature
Transportation
Transportation networks (transportation)The means and aids for conveying people and goods. For example, resources describing roads, airports and airstrips, shipping routes, tunnels, nautical charts, vehicle or vessel location, aeronautical charts, and railways.
Transport Line
This dataset contains manmade linear features in a transportation network, such as bridges and railway tunnels. It does not include roads. The linear features included are: * aerial cable ways * railway bridges * roadway bridges * railway and road bridges * pedestrian/cycle bridges * railway culverts * roadway culverts * parking lot limits * roads - edge * railway tunnels * roadway tunnels * road - under construction – edges We are no longer updating this data. It is best suited for historical research and analysis.
Transport Networks in Canada - CanVec Series - Transport Features
The transport features of the CanVec series are derived from the National Road Network (NRN) and the National Railway Network (NRWN). The dataset describes roads, trails, bridges, railroads and their related information. The transport features include nautical facilities, track segments, track junctions, railway stations, track crossings, track marker posts, track structures, rail ferry segments, road segments, road ferry segments, road junctions, blocked passages, toll points, aerial cableway features, footbridges, trails, navigational aids, marinas and runways. The CanVec multiscale series is available as prepackaged downloadable files and by user-defined extent via a Geospatial data extraction tool.Related Products (Open Maps Links):[Topographic Data of Canada - CanVec Series](https://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/8ba2aa2a-7bb9-4448-b4d7-f164409fe056)
Ontario Railway Network (ORWN)
The Ontario Railway Network (ORWN) is seven data classes that use the federal GEOBASE standard for the National Railway Network (NRWN) geospatial data. The seven data classes include: * track * crossing * junctions * marker posts * structure lines * structure points * stations Although the ORWN is mainly used as base data for cartographic products, users will also get railway-associated attributes.
Transport Point
This dataset consists of man-made point features in a transportation network. Transport point features include: * Culvert Railway Symbolized - a enclosed drain under a railway * Culvert Roadway Symbolized - an enclosed drain under a roadway * Turntable Railway - a rotatable platform with a track, used to turn locomotives and cars We are no longer updating this data. It is best suited for historical research and analysis.
