Updated on a weekly basis.  It is important that users are aware of the following caveats when reviewing data presented in the Animal Disease Investigations Dashboard: 1. Each investigation can have one or more cases involved depending on the number of herds or animals exposed.  Not all disease investigations are handled the same due to a partnership approach.  Diseases can be detected via surveillance, ad hoc reporting, or through other programs. 2. Rabies is a separate program. Please see Manitoba's Provincial Rabies Management Program for data related to Rabies Surveillance.3. Certain zoonotic diseases, such as salmonella or influenza, are also captured in more detail through other means.  The total occurrence of a zoonotic disease represented in this dashboard reflects occurrences where risks or exposures were deemed significant enough to warrant further investigation.  4. Historically, One Health Investigations that were predominantly focused on Public Health issues rather than Animal Health concerns were not captured in this system and will be underrepresented here. The data represents an assessment of biodiversity risk for the agricultural area of Alberta in 2002. Biodiversity risk refers to the loss of biological diversity, or the variety of plant and animal life in agricultural landscapes. This map, created in ArcGIS, tries to show where biodiversity could be threatened, such as in areas with significant habitat that coincide with areas of greater agricultural economic activity. Biodiversity is believed to affect the overall health of the environment.

Table of animal samples requested for rabies testing in Manitoba since the province took over the rabies program on April 1, 2014.This table contains information on animal samples requested for rabies testing in Manitoba since the province took over the rabies program on April 1, 2014.  As of that date, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is no longer involved with managing rabies cases in Manitoba. The provincial Rabies Management Program is now coordinated by Manitoba Rabies Central, which is a collaborative effort involving the Manitoba departments of Health, and Environment, Climate and Parks. Samples for rabies testing are requested by Manitoba Health in cases of human exposure to a suspected rabid animal, and by Agriculture in the case of animal exposure to another suspect rabid animal. Collection of a sample from the suspect rabid animal is coordinated by Agriculture.  This information will be updated on a quarterly basis. The Open Database of Healthcare Facilities (ODHF) is a collection of open data containing the names, types, and locations of health facilities across Canada. It is released under the Open Government License - Canada.The ODHF compiles open, publicly available, and directly-provided data on health facilities across Canada. Data sources include regional health authorities, provincial, territorial and municipal governments, and public health and professional healthcare bodies. This database aims to provide enhanced access to a harmonized listing of health facilities across Canada by making them available as open data. This database is a component of the Linkable Open Data Environment (LODE).

As the COVID-19 pandemic spreads, researchers and health professionals have noted large differences in the impact that the infection has on individuals. Whereas some remain asymptomatic and unaware of their infection or experience only mild symptoms, others require hospitalization, ventilation, and may even die. As research evidence accumulates, both nationally and internationally, it appears that certain health characteristics, such as obesity or the presence of chronic conditions, increase the risk of severe outcomes among those who are infected with the novel coronavirus.To better understand which segments of the Canadian population may be vulnerable to severe health outcomes related to COVID-19, Statistics Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada have worked collaboratively to build an index of underlying health conditions in the adult household population. Using information from the 2017/2018 Canadian Community Health Survey, new data tables released today estimate the proportion of the adult household population who may be at greater risk of severe health outcomes related to COVID-19 due to the presence of underlying health conditions.

In 1991, the National Task Force on Health Information cited a number of issues and problems with the health information system. To respond to these issues, the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), Statistics Canada and Health Canada joined forces to create a Health Information Roadmap. From this mandate, the Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) was conceived.The CCHS is a cross-sectional survey that collects information related to health status, health care utilization and health determinants for the Canadian population. The survey is offered in both official languages. It relies upon a large sample of respondents and is designed to provide reliable estimates at the health region level every 2 years.The primary use of the CCHS data is for health surveillance and population health research. The data presented here is by age group and sex, for Canada, provinces, territories and health regions (2017 boundaries).

Ontario's Healthy Babies Healthy Children program helps infants and children up to age 6 and their families through: * risk screening and assessments * referrals to community programs and services * supports for new parents These shapefiles provide geospatial data for mapping the 34 Healthy Babies and Healthy Children delivery regions in Ontario. __Please note:__ The Healthy Babies Healthy Children program is delivered through Ontario’s public health units in partnership with hospitals and other community partners. The Healthy Babies Healthy Children boundaries align with Public Health Unit boundaries.

The Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) is a scale designed to help quantify the quality of the air in a certain region on a scale from 1 to 10. When the amount of air pollution is very high, the number is reported as 10+. It also includes a category that describes the health risk associated with the index reading (e.g. Low, Moderate, High, or Very High Health Risk). The AQHI is calculated based on the relative risks of a combination of common air pollutants that are known to harm human health, including ground-level ozone, particulate matter, and nitrogen dioxide. The AQHI formulation captures only the short term or acute health risk (exposure of hour or days at a maximum). The formulation of the AQHI may change over time to reflect new understanding associated with air pollution health effects. The AQHI is calculated from data observed in real time, without being verified (quality control).

Community Areas are a standard analytical and service delivery geography for the city of Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.Community Areas are a standard analytical and service delivery geography for the city of Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.  The Community Areas geographic areas were developed by the Community Data Network (now more commonly referred to as the Winnipeg Community Data Consortium), with input from the WRHA, Manitoba Health, the City of Winnipeg, and other stakeholders. Community areas can be defined to either include or exclude the municipalities of East and West St. Paul. Because the Winnipeg RHA is defined to include East and West St. Paul, use of the geographies in a health services or health status context includes East and West St. Paul. Conversely, because the City of Winnipeg excludes East and West St. Paul, use of the geographies in a municipal administrative context excludes East and West St. Paul. This shapefile reflects the use of Community Areas in a health services or health status context, and includes East and West St. Paul.
