Health Characteristics, Two-year Period Estimates
In 1991, the National Task Force on Health Information cited a number of issues and problems with the health information system. To respond to these issues, the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), Statistics Canada and Health Canada joined forces to create a Health Information Roadmap. From this mandate, the Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) was conceived. The CCHS is a cross-sectional survey that collects information related to health status, health care utilization and health determinants for the Canadian population. The survey is offered in both official languages. It relies upon a large sample of respondents and is designed to provide reliable estimates at the health region level every 2 years. The primary use of the CCHS data is for health surveillance and population health research. The data presented here is by age group and sex, for Canada, provinces, territories and health regions (2017 boundaries).
Metadata of benthic imaging surveys in the Banc-des-Américains Marine Protected Area
This dataset was developed to document the procedures for acquiring underwater images in the Banc-des-Américains Marine Protected Area (MPA). Its primary objective is to provide a comprehensive inventory of metadata linked to imagery campaigns that allowed us to conduct a basic characterization of the area, and now that are used for ecological monitoring of the benthic habitats within the MPA.Metadata were collected during imagery surveys conducted since 2012, using three main methods: drop cameras on the crest, baited drop stereoscopic cameras on both the crest and plains, and towed cameras on the plains. For each operation are shared the type of gear used, sampling method, date, geographic coordinates, and acquisition depth. The released dataset contains only descriptive information related to the acquisition of images : file identifier, location, sampling methodology, depth, and technical imaging parameters. It does not include image files themselves, visual content, or the results of image analyses.A systematic quality control is applied to ensure completeness and consistency of the metadata: field format standardization, validation of GPS coordinates, verification of dates and recorded depths. Clear instructions guide the recording of metadata to guarantee their reliability for management and scientific monitoring purposes.
Ocean Station "Papa" Detailed Zooplankton Data: 1956-1980
Zooplankton samples were collected at Ocean Station "P" (50.0000, -145.0000) from 1956 to 1980, and were analyzed to various levels of taxonomic resolution over the years. Although summaries of these data have been previously published ((LeBrasseur 1965) and (Fulton 1978, 1983)) the detailed species data have never been published. This detailed dataset contains total zooplankton wet weights/m3 for the whole period of 1956 to 1980, as well as densities (numbers/m3) for five major taxa (copepods, chaetognaths, euphausiids, amphipods, and Aglantha) from 1964 to 1967, species identifications, counts and lengths for many samples collected between 1968 to 1980. The attached supporting document (Ocean Station "Papa" detailed zooplankton data: 1956 – 1980) contains information on the methods used to collect and process the data along with descriptions of a number of fairly minor points about the data that were not resolved. It also describes, in detail, the format of the original data files, the corrections/changes that were made to these files in creating this version, and how these errors affect what was published in Fulton (1983).The purpose of this record is to make the detailed data available to the scientific community in an electronic format and to provide a convenient reference for citing the detailed data. Geotechnical report point
Geotechnical reports are indexed within a database maintained by HPW-TEB Geotechnical Unit. Meta data associated to each geotechnical report are captured within this indexing table, including report reference number, title, author, highway and km start and end. The table has been modified to include columns that aid in georeferencing geotechnical reports. Added columns include route ID, Latitude, and Longitude.Transportation Engineering Branch is continually improving its geographical information systems with a major focus on creating linear referencing routes within ArcGIS. Georeferencing geotechnical reports will utilize the linear referencing routes in creating points and line shape files by referencing the highway number and km points or ranges as defined within the indexing table.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Disease Investigations data
Table containing information relevant to animal disease investigations in Manitoba from 2012 to present. This table contains information relevant to animal disease investigations in Manitoba from 2012 to present, conducted by the Chief Veterinary Office (CVO). Information includes year, number of sites, number of linked sites, animal species, disease types and results. Updated on a weekly basis. It is important that users are aware of the following caveats when reviewing data presented in the Animal Disease Investigations Dashboard: 1. Each investigation can have one or more cases involved depending on the number of herds or animals exposed. Not all disease investigations are handled the same due to a partnership approach. Diseases can be detected via surveillance, ad hoc reporting, or through other programs. 2. Rabies is a separate program. Please see Manitoba's Provincial Rabies Management Program for data related to Rabies Surveillance.3. Certain zoonotic diseases, such as salmonella or influenza, are also captured in more detail through other means. The total occurrence of a zoonotic disease represented in this dashboard reflects occurrences where risks or exposures were deemed significant enough to warrant further investigation. 4. Historically, One Health Investigations that were predominantly focused on Public Health issues rather than Animal Health concerns were not captured in this system and will be underrepresented here. Fields included ( Alias (Field Name): Field description.) Year (Year): Year of the disease investigation Number of Sites (Number_of_Sites): Number of investigation sites Number of Linked Sites (Number_of_Linked_Sites): Number of sites linked to investigation sites Species/Class (Species__Class): Group of animal species Disease Type (Disease_Type): The type of disease that is being investigated Result (Result): The outcome (positive/negative) for the corresponding animal disease investigation
Vessel Density Mapping of 2013 AIS Data in the Northwest Atlantic
The Automatic Identification System (AIS) is a global, satellite-based and terrestrial-based ship tracking system that uses shipborne equipment to remotely track vessel identification and positional information and is typically required on vessels of 300 gross tonnage or more on an international voyage, of 500 gross tonnage or more not on an international voyage, and passenger ships of all sizes. AIS tracking technologies are primarily used in support of real-time maritime domain awareness and for maritime security and safety of life at sea. This report describes a geographic information system (GIS) analysis of 2019 AIS data to produce yearly and monthly vessel density maps of all vessel classes combined and yearly density maps of each vessel class. The year 2019 was selected to portray shipping densities in a pre-COVID 19 pandemic depiction of the maritime transport sector in the Northwest Atlantic. Vessel density map applications include use in spatial analysis and decision support for marine spatial planning. In 2023 the process was applied to the years 2013 through to 2022 and were made available using the same processes that were applied to the original 2019 datasets.
Metadata from Scientific Dive-Based Surveys on the ridge of the Banc-des-Américains Marine Protected Area for the monitoring of the atlantic wolffish (Anarhicas lupus)
This metadataset was compiled to document scientific dive operations conducted within the Banc-des-Américains Marine Protected Area (MPA). Its purpose is to enable the tracking of field activities carried out as part of ecological monitoring of the atlantic wolffish (Anarhicas lupus) habitats and other key species.Metadata were collected for each scientific dive, following a standardized protocol implemented since 2014 that includes the date, participating team, GPS coordinates, depth, and dive duration. The released dataset contains only descriptive and contextual information related to each dive operation: dive identifier, site, date, location, conditions of execution, method used, and environmental variables when recorded. It does not include photographs, videos, raw biological observations, or analysis results.Quality control involves standardization of the metadata form, verification of GPS positions and recorded depths, as well as annual internal review of the dive series by the scientific coordination team. Established procedures ensure the completeness, consistency, and traceability of the descriptive data provided.
Zooplankton Database
Zooplankton and ichthyoplankton data are archived in the Institute of Ocean Sciences (IOS) Zooplankton Database. The data available spans from 1980 to 2018 and is an extraction of vertical net hauls as biomass by major taxa collected during surveys conducted in the oceanic and coastal waters of the Northeast Pacific Ocean. The majority of vertical net hauls in this data set were collected from 10 metres above the sea floor or an approximate maximum depth of 250 metres.
