Oil and Gas Seismic Lines
Data for seismic surveys prior to 1999 were obtained from National Energy Board (NEB) as points data (end points and bends) in Excel file format with basic information only. The NEB dataset was not comprehensive. Seismic lines coordinates' data for some of the earliest surveys recorded during 1960s and 1970s were recorded in NAD27 and contained location errors. In addition some data were not converted to NAD83 datum currently in use therefore resulting in even larger error. Starting at 1999 seismic lines location data are provided to the Government of Yukon by exploration companies as part of their statutory reporting requirements.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Mining camp vertical seismic profile studies
Vertical seismic profiling (VSP) surveys done by the Geological Survey of Canada for research into downhole seismic imaging techniques for mineral exploration.
High resolution seismic surveys
High resolution 2D/3D seismic surveys performed for the Geological Survey of Canada to advance the use of seismic methods in hard rock environments.
Canada's National Earthquake Scenario Catalogue - Val-de-bois - Magnitude 7.5
Ottawa planning scenario using the 2010 Val-de-bois, QC earthquake hypocentre and fault plane geometry from Ma & Motazedian, 2012 and Atkinson & Assatourians, 2010. This scenario uses a larger magnitude event than those that have been observed to date for that location, within bounds of the national seismic hazard model. Maximum magnitude of 7.95 is obtained from CanSHM6 for GATINEAU region.
Crustal seismic refraction programs
A collection of five crustal scale seismic refraction programs performed in Canada by the Geological Survey of Canada.
Earthquakes in Canada 2010-2019
Historical earthquakes recorded by Earthquakes Canada. This dataset contains the earthquakes recorded in decade 2010. However, the National Earthquake Database makes available seismic bulletin data from 1985 and onward. For a complete listing of current and historical earthquakes, visit https://www.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/.
Lithoprobe Lines
This dataset shows the location of Lithoprobe Trans Hudson Orogen seismic data acquisition points for the Province of Saskatchewan. This dataset shows the locations of LITHOPROBE Trans Hudson Orogen seismic data acquisition points for the Province of Saskatchewan. The data was created as a file geodatabase feature class and output for public distribution. **Please Note – All published Saskatchewan Geological Survey datasets, including those available through the Saskatchewan Mining and Petroleum GeoAtlas, are sourced from the Enterprise GIS Data Warehouse. They are therefore identical and share the same refresh schedule.
Earthquake Epicentres - 250k
This layer is part of the Geological Survey of Canada's earthquake monitoring network. There are some blank fields toward the beginning of the listing, from the time the network was being installed and hence parameters were often unknown. Also, all depths in the table are "fixed" to a depth which is an integer multiple of 5km, according to lowest obtainable residuals and known crustal structure. The number and magnitude of located events are also dependent on the time recorded, as the magnitude threshold lowered as more stations were installed. The larger, potentially damaging earthquakes, however, were likely recorded from the inception of the network as these events produce waves which reach the entire western network.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Canada's National Earthquake Scenario Catalogue - Denali Fault - Magnitude 7.4
The Denali Fault spans over 200km of the Yukon Territory, and is a significant source of seismic hazard. This magnitude 7.4 earthquake scenario, centered near small communities along the Alaska Highway, visualizes the effects of a severe earthquake that could be produced by this fault.
Earthquakes in Canada 1980-1989
Historical earthquakes recorded by Earthquakes Canada. This dataset contains the earthquakes recorded in decade 1980. However, the National Earthquake Database makes available seismic bulletin data from 1985 and onward. For a complete listing of current and historical earthquakes, visit https://www.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/.
