This dataset contains primary processing facilities (e.g., smelters and refineries), mines and advanced projects related to Canada’s 34 critical minerals. Advanced projects are those with mineral reserves or resources (measured or indicated), the potential viability of which is supported by a preliminary economic assessment or a prefeasibility/feasibility study. This dataset contains a list of registered farm implement dealers, distributors and dealer/distributors in Ontario. Dealers offer farm implements or replacement parts for sale to the public while distributors sell, consign, or deliver farm implements or replacement parts to a dealer. Dealer/distributors carry out the function of both dealers and distributors. These dealers, distributors and dealer/distributors hold a valid registration under the [Farm Implements Act, 1990](https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/90f04) from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness (OMAFA). The purpose of the Farm Implements Act is to improve farm machinery safety and to protect the large investments that farmers and dealers make in farm machinery. OMAFA encourages farmers and dealers to exercise caution before making investments in farm implements with a dealer or distributor who is not registered or located in Ontario. Registrations are renewed annually (expire December 31), and the list is updated annually. This list is maintained by OMAFA and includes company names, contact names and addresses.

This point dataset represents both applications for a Mines Act permit and issued authorizations for mining activities proposed in the application. Applications for regional Mines Act permits are known as Notice of Work (NoW) applications. Regional mine permits are issued for mineral and coal exploration activities, sand and gravel production, quarry production, and placer mining. Major mine permits are issued for producing mineral and coal mines. Permits are issued by the chief permitting officer under section 10 of the Mines Act and administered by the ministry. Regional mines include: * Exploration — mineral, coal, rock quarry, industrial mineral or dimension stone * Sand and gravel — aggregate, rock or natural substances used for construction purposes * Placer   Most exploration and development activities require a permit under the Mines Act. A decision marks the end of the permitting process for a NoW application. The decision can either be to reject the application or to authorize the mining activities proposed in the NoW. * For new NoW authorizations, a Mines Act permit is issued * For an existing open Mines Act permit, the newly authorized mining activities are amended to the existing permit and the permit is re-issued   **NOTE:** Administrative amendments to a NoW are not captured in this dataset. This dataset is a compilation of numerous data files recovered as part of a data request in 2024 from a historical archive of DFO research data. Sediment and Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM) samples were collected over more than a decade as part of Dr. Douglas Loring’s research program while working at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO). Samples were collected as part of individual and collaborative research projects, and links to the relevant primary science publications and reports are included in the data in an effort to provide context to the data, as well as describe the field and laboratory techniques used to generate the attached data.

The Wastewater Systems Effluent Regulations (WSER), developed under the Fisheries Act, came into force in 2012 to manage wastewater releases by systems that collect an average daily influent volume of 100 cubic metres or more. The WSER also does not apply to any wastewater system located in the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and north of the 54th parallel in the provinces of Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador. The WSER set national baseline effluent quality standards that are achievable through secondary wastewater treatment. The map below presents data regarding compliance with the WSER effluent quality standards according to their averaging period. Wastewater systems must report on either a monthly, quarterly or annual basis. The dataset also includes the carbonaceous biochemical oxygen demand (CBOD) and suspended solids (SS) results for each wastewater system. Annual reporting: This map layer shows whether or not the wastewater systems met the WSER effluent quality limit according to an annual averaging period for carbonaceous biochemical oxygen demand CBOD or suspended solids SS. Quarterly reporting: This map layer shows whether or not the wastewater systems met the WSER effluent quality standards according to a quarterly averaging period. Note that a system that meets its CBOD limit or its SS limit for more than 75% of the time is considered to be in compliance with the effluent quality standards of the WSER.Monthly reporting: This map layer shows whether or not the wastewater systems met the WSER effluent quality standards according to a monthly averaging period.
