TANTALIS - Crown Land Rights-of-way
TA_CROWN_RIGHTS_OF_WAY_SVW contains the spatial representation (polygon) of active and applied for Statutory Rights-of-way. Statutory rights-of-way are registerable in a Land Titles office, and are normally issued to authorize linear uses of Crown Land for transportation, communication, energy production and utility developments. They grant tenure holders right of passage for specific purposes and certainty respecting access to the land and use of improvements. They do not convey non-exclusive use - exclusivity may be granted for safety reasons. A legal survey is required to define the tenured area. The view was created to provide a simplified presentation of this single tenure type from the disposition information in the Tantalis operational system. The same content could be derived from the TA_CROWN_TENURES_SVW by filtering to this tenure type only
TANTALIS - Surveyed Right-of-way Parcels
TA_SURVEYED_ROW_PARCELS_SVW contains the spatial representation (polygon) of all parcels of land surveyed for statutory access or Right-of-Way purposes, with active surveys, that are or have been within the purview of the B.C. Crown Land Management program. The view was created to provide a simplified view of this data from the survey parcel information in the Tantalis operational system
TANTALIS - Crown Land Inclusions
TA_CROWN_INCLUSIONS_SVW contains the spatial representation (polygon) of active and applied for Crown Land Inclusions. Inclusions are a mechanism by which an interest holder can extend for inclusion their holdings based on statutory provisions within the Land and Land Title Acts. The view was created to provide a simplified presentation of this single tenure type from the disposition information in the Tantalis operational system. The same content could be derived from the TA_CROWN_TENURES_SVW by filtering to this tenure type only
Fluorometer Data, Southern Vancouver Island (Pacific), 2004-2014
A chlorophyll fluorescence time series was collected at various locations around the coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada for monitoring phytoplankton concentrations. A Wetlabs ECO fluorometer was deployed every few months on a schedule depending on season and sensor availability. The instrument hung by a chain attached to the side of the buoy, or dock, depending on location, and measured chlorophyll using the fluorescence emission at 695nm. The instrument also measured turbidity by detecting the scattered light at 700nm. The units had internal batteries and data storage and were programmed to make a group of 5 measurements every 30 minutes. A copper wiper covered the sampling window between groups of measurements to reduce fouling. Times are in UTC unless otherwise stated.
Institute of Ocean Sciences Moored Instrument Data (Pacific), 1965-present
Moored instrument time series data include current velocity, temperature, salinity, oxygen, fluorescence, transmissivity, turbidity, sediment trap data and particle capture of carbon, nitrogen, and silicon.These data were collected by researchers from the Institute of Ocean Sciences, Sidney, BC, from locations in the North Pacific.The data links below are only a representative sample of the entire collection. If you require more data, please send your request to the data contact.
Strong Motion Data from the 2012 M7.8 Haida Gwaii Earthquake
During the October 28 2012 moment magnitude (Mw) 7.8 earthquake offshore Haida Gwaii, British Columbia, the Geological Survey of Canada had three Internet Accelerograph (IA) stations that recorded the strong ground motions resulting from this event. These data have been used in a number of publications since 2013. Three-component, instrument calibrated, unfiltered numerical acceleration data for the three stations PRP01 (Prince Rupert), MSS01 (Masset) and QCC01 (Daajing Giids) are now easily accessible in miniseed and ascii formats. Details of IA are available here: https://www.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/stndon/CNSN-RNSC/sm/IA_Details-en.php
MTA - Mineral Reserve Sites Business View
~~~~~~~~~~~~Defines areas within the province of British Columbia where mineral, placer and coal titles are restricted and placer titles are permitted. This business view contains a detailed set of attributes. A reserve is established by a B.C. Regulation of the Chief Gold Commissioner under - Section 22 of the Mineral Tenure Act: Mineral reserves - Section 21 of the Coal Act: Coal land reserves and it is the legal instrument used to prevent or restrict access to mineral, placer and coal lands.
Institute of Ocean Sciences Moored Instrument Data (Pacific and Arctic), 1965-present
Moored instrument time series data include current velocity, temperature, salinity, oxygen, fluorescence, transmissivity, turbidity, and particle capture of carbon, nitrogen, and silicon as well as sediment trap, ice drift and ice draft data.These data were collected by researchers from the Institute of Ocean Sciences, Sidney, BC, from locations ranging from the North Pacific, the Beaufort Sea, and across the Canadian Arctic Archipelago to Baffin Bay.
NWT Aster DEM
The ASTER instrument that was launched onboard NASA’s Terra spacecraft in December 1999 has an along-track stereoscopic capability using two telescopes in its near infrared spectral band to acquire data from nadir and backward views. Over 1.2 million scenes (level-1A products) acquired between March 2000 and August 2008 were used to generate the ASTER Global DEM (ASTGTM) collection. For more information on the ASTER Global DEM, please see the metadata link.
Homogenized Surface Wind Speed (AHCCD)
The Homogenized Surface Wind Speed data consist of monthly, seasonal and annual means of hourly wind speed (kilometres per hour) at standard 10 metre level for 156 locations in Canada. Homogenized climate data incorporate adjustments (derived from statistical procedures) to the original station data to account for discontinuities from non-climatic factors, such as instrument changes or station relocation. The time periods of the data vary by location, with the oldest data available from 1953 at some stations to the most recent update in 2014. Data availability over most of the Canadian Arctic is restricted to 1953 to present. The data will continue to be updated every few years (as time permits).
