The purpose of this dataset is to provide the public with the areal extents of the 14 watershed districts in Manitoba.The Watershed Districts Act , proclaimed on January 1, 2020, transitioned 18 conservation districts to 14 watershed districts, with boundaries based on watersheds. Along with this change, the Manitoba Conservation Districts Program was renamed the Manitoba Watershed Districts Program, and the program was modernized to enhance watershed-based water management in Manitoba. The goal of the program is to create healthy and sustainable watersheds through land and water stewardship programs and partnerships. With funding from the Manitoba government and municipal partners, locally-appointed watershed district boards make planning and management decisions to improve watershed health across most of rural Manitoba. This 1:20,000. scale inventory contains digital maps of cancelled community watershed boundaries. The watershed boundaries showed the location of watersheds that supply communities with domestic water. These are meant to be used in conjunction with stream network map coverages from TRIM mapping. Attribute data for community watersheds can be downloaded into a spreadsheet or database

Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) regions are divided into districts - smaller organizational units - to help manage ministry programs and resources. Extents of the districts were originally compiled by description of: metes and bounds, topographic features, geographic township boundaries, territorial district boundaries, etc. Changes to the extent of the districts have been made over time by MNR district offices. This product requires the use of geographic information system (GIS) software.

Assessment Watersheds are mesoscale aquatic units designed to replace the 3rd order 1:50K watersheds. Assessment Watersheds are based on groupings of fundamental watersheds using FWA watershed code and local code, with a target size of between 2,000ha and 10,000ha.

Watershed polygons are a graphical representation of watershed boundaries as defined in the Clean Water Act - Watershed Protected Area Designation Order. Attributes include municipality, primary and secondary treatment, Map ID and Watershed name.
