This boundary layer shows all Special Conservation Areas (SCA) in Manitoba.The purpose of this dataset is to show the boundaries of all Special Conservation Areas (SCA) in Manitoba, as designated by the Designation of Wildlife Lands Regulation (171/2001) under The Wildlife Act (C.C.S.M. c. W130). Special Conservation Areas are designated to conserve and protect particular species and habitats throughout Manitoba. The Use of Wildlife Lands Regulation (77/99) determines what activities are prohibited within each Special Conservation Area. Special Management Areas are part of a network of protected lands in Saskatchewan. The following dataset accurately defines SMA land areas in Saskatchewan that have various levels of developmental restrictions.The Minister of Environment wishes to identify “Special Management Areas” to be managed for the following purposes:a) the protection, enhancement or restoration of natural ecosystems, wildlife habitat or habitat of rare, threatened or endangered plant or animal species;b) the retention of significant botanical, zoological, morphological, historical archaeological features respecting the land;c) the conservation of soil, air and water quality; and the opportunity for scientific research and study related to the ecological health of the area.

The Special Area dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent Special Areas in Alberta. Special Area is a rural municipality type defined under the authority of the Municipal Government Act. Special Areas were established under the Special Areas Act in 1938 due to extreme hardship of the drought years of the 1930s. The Special Areas Act of 1938 has more or less remained intact although there were some amendments in 1966 and 1985. Special Area refers to a rural area in southeast Alberta.

This dataset contains spatial and attribute data for local government Heritage Conservation Areas (HCAs) established for heritage conservation purposes in British Columbia, as tracked by BC Heritage Branch. Under the Local Government Act, a local government may designate a HCA within its Official Community Plan (OCP). An OCP may include a schedule of properties located within a Heritage Conservation Area that are considered to be protected heritage property. This is a multi-part polygon layer.

A Public Right Area Object representing the spatial extent of a protected landscape as a result of the public interest or common good. These areas can include habitat, wilderness areas and other special management areas. This cadastral framework provides a parcel base of properly structured vector data designed and suited for Geographical Information System (GIS) application and can be used for land management purposes. This data set is not be used for defining boundaries.
