DFO Unit Areas, Atlantic Canada
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) statistical unit areas (also referred to as unit areas) are smaller portions of the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization (NAFO) Subareas, Divisions, and Subdivisions defined in the Convention on Cooperation in the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries (2020). The spatial representation of boundaries defined by NAFO has recently been updated to address inconsistencies and errors in earlier versions, which is available here: https://open.canada.ca/data/dataset/59af1c96-fc8f-4fa0-b398-d65e953eadaa#comment-41855. Unit areas are used by DFO for a variety of purposes including, but not limited to stock assessments, privacy screening of fisheries maps, and statistical analyses.Unit areas were originally defined throughout the 1940s and 1950s. Subsequently, several revisions and alternate versions were created by DFO in various regions leading to inconsistencies in spatial extent and naming conventions. These changes have not been formally documented. The datasets often have topological errors such as gaps and overlaps, especially along diagonals and coastlines. In addition, inconsistencies have arisen from conflicting interpretations of the NAFO divisions, where not all land points are defined by coordinates. Therefore, DFO, with input from the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS), has created an updated version of the DFO unit areas file to address inconsistencies and errors among previous versions. The recently updated NAFO divisions were used as the basis for an updated DFO unit areas file. This version of the DFO unit areas must not be used for legal purposes. Legal descriptions of fishing area boundaries can be found in the Atlantic Fisheries Regulations, Maritime Provinces Fishery Regulations, and DFO License Conditions.
Lands Division Officer Working Zones
The Lands Division Officer Working Zones dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Forestry and Parks Lands Officer Working Zones within the Province of Alberta. The dataset is to help Government of Alberta Staff in determining which Lands Officer is responsible for the approvals within each zone.
Forest genetics zone
This spatial data identifies breeding zones used by forest managers and forest genetic associations to manage provincial forest genetic assets. The data: * shows the boundaries of breeding zones * identifies the primary or target species within each zone Species are associated with certain breeding programs, seed orchards and progeny (descendant) testing installations.
St. Lawrence Integrated Management Areas (ZGISL)
Location and identification of the 6 integrated water management zones of the St. Lawrence in southern Quebec.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
Daily Mean of Water Level or Flow
The daily mean is the average of all unit values for a given day.
Oil and Gas Tenure Areas
Tenure Areas are geographic administrative areas named for local features and used to group petroleum and natural gas Land Plats situated within the same local geographic area.
Community Areas
Community Areas are a standard analytical and service delivery geography for the city of Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.Community Areas are a standard analytical and service delivery geography for the city of Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. The Community Areas geographic areas were developed by the Community Data Network (now more commonly referred to as the Winnipeg Community Data Consortium), with input from the WRHA, Manitoba Health, the City of Winnipeg, and other stakeholders. Community areas can be defined to either include or exclude the municipalities of East and West St. Paul. Because the Winnipeg RHA is defined to include East and West St. Paul, use of the geographies in a health services or health status context includes East and West St. Paul. Conversely, because the City of Winnipeg excludes East and West St. Paul, use of the geographies in a municipal administrative context excludes East and West St. Paul. This shapefile reflects the use of Community Areas in a health services or health status context, and includes East and West St. Paul.

Terrestrial Protected Areas Representation by Biogeoclimatic Zone
Biogeoclimatic Ecosystem Classification (BEC) zone boundaries with percent protected, number of overlapping protected areas and other attributes added as a result of geoprocessing in the Protected Area System Overview (PASO) application. Protected area and park representation by BEC zone provides a zonal ecosystem context for natural resource planning processes such as; management plans, land use zoning, environmental risk assessment, landscape analysis, habitat supply, and management of high priority species. For important warnings about using this data for spatial analysis see the Data Quality section of the metadata
Game Management Areas - 250k
Game Management Areas (GMAs) are legal boundaries that define an area within which big game management objectives can be met through the setting of area-specific regulations. In other words, GMAs are used to manage Yukon wildlife species. GMAs are a combination of Game Management Zone (GMZ or Zone) and Game Management Subzone (GMS or Subzone). There are 443 GMAs in the Yukon which are grouped together into 11 Zones. In general, Zone boundaries follow highway centre lines and Subzone boundaries follow creeks and rivers. In effect, GMAs delineate mountain blocks, which reflects their original use as sheep management units. Despite this original intent, GMAs are now used to manage all species of Yukon wildlife. With the exception of National Parks, the entire Yukon is covered by GMAs.
