Health Regions
Provides a provincial coverage of the administrative boundaries of the regional health authorities (2) in New Brunswick to promote the use of a common geographic representation in New Brunswick. The health regions in New Brunswick are groupings of the NBHC Community Boundaries (as defined by the NBHC), which are groupings of the municipalities (Census subdivisions).
Counties
County boundaries for New Brunswick.
Licensed Nursing Homes
Listing of licensed nursing homes in the province of New Brunswick including contact information, location, language and number of beds
New Brunswick Buildings
Polygons representing a snapshot of buildings throughout New Brunswick. Data is derived from provincial LiDAR data acquired between 2015 and 2018 and include buildings present at the time of LiDAR collection.
eDNA-based Detection of Freshwater Mussels in New Brunswick
PURPOSE:Assess the distribution of freshwater mussels, including the Brook Floater (Alasmidonta varicosa), the Eastern Pearlshell (Margaritifera margaritifera), and the Yellow Lampmussel (Lampsilis cariosa) in New Brunswick.DESCRIPTION:This dataset contains the results of work undertaken from 2017 to 2024 to assess the distribution of freshwater mussels using environmental DNA (eDNA) surveys and species-specific qPCR assays. USE LIMITATION:To ensure scientific integrity and appropriate use of the data, we would encourage you to contact the data custodian.
Shellfish Water Classification Program – Shellfish Harvest Area Classification in New Brunswick
This dataset provides geospatial polygon boundaries for marine bivalve shellfish harvest area classification in New Brunswick, Canada. These data represent the five classification categories of marine bivalve shellfish harvest areas (Approved; Conditionally Approved; Restricted; Conditionally Restricted; and Prohibited) under the Canadian Shellfish Sanitation Program (CSSP). Data are collected by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) for the purpose of making applicable classification recommendations on the basis of sanitary and water quality survey results. ECCC recommendations are reviewed and adopted by Regional Interdepartmental Shellfish Committees prior to regulatory implementation by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). These geographic data are for illustrative purposes only; they show shellfish harvest area classifications when in Open Status. The classification may be superseded at any time by regulatory orders issued by DFO, which place areas in Closed Status, due to conditions such as sewage overflows or elevated biotoxin levels. For further information about the current status and boundary coordinates for areas under Prohibition Order, please contact your local DFO office. This dataset is 'Deprecated'. Electrofishing Data from Southeast New Brunswick (SFA 16B)
PURPOSE:To monitor juvenile Atlantic salmon densities over time.DESCRIPTION:Indices of freshwater production are derived annually from electrofishing surveys in Southeast New Brunswick. Juvenile Atlantic salmon abundances at sites, divided by age or size group and reported in terms of number of fish per habitat area sampled (density), are obtained using successive removal sampling or catch per unit effort sampling (which is calibrated using successive removal sampling data). Sampling intensities vary among years and among rivers. This dataset comprises raw data on all fish captured and effort invested in the course of monitoring juvenile Atlantic salmon in Southeast, New Brunswick, from 1974 to 2024. Sampling was focused on habitat suitable for Atlantic salmon, and capture of any other species was incidental. PARAMETERS COLLECTED:Distribution (ecological); species counts (ecological); fish lengths (biological); fish weights (biological); point (spatial).USE LIMITATION:To ensure scientific integrity and appropriate use of the data, we would encourage you to contact the data custodian.
Electrofishing Data from the Miramichi River, New Brunswick (SFA 16)
PURPOSE:To track juvenile Atlantic salmon densities.DESCRIPTION:Indices of freshwater production are derived annually from electrofishing surveys in the Miramichi River of New Brunswick. Juvenile salmon abundances at sites, in terms of number of fish per habitat area sampled by age or size group (densities), are obtained using successive removal sampling or catch per unit effort sampling calibrated to densities. Sampling intensities vary among years and among rivers. PARAMETERS COLLECTED:Species counts (ecological); point (spatial).USE LIMITATION:To ensure scientific integrity and appropriate use of the data, we would encourage you to contact the data custodian.
MBON Pole to Pole: Sandy beach biodiversity of southwest New Brunswick, Canada
The Marine Biodiversity Observation Network Pole to Pole (MBON P2P) effort seeks to develop a framework for the collection, use and sharing of marine biodiversity data in a coordinated, standardized manner leveraging on existing infrastructure managed by the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS; IOC-UNESCO), the GEO Biodiversity Observation Network (GEO BON), and the Ocean Biogeographic Information System (OBIS). The MBON Pole to Pole aims to become a key resource for decision-making and management of living resource across countries in the Americas for reporting requirements under the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), Aichi Targets of the Convention of Biological Diversity (CBD), and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).This collection corresponds to the species registered on sandy beaches of the Musquash Harbour, Mispec Bay, and New River Beach, New Brunswick, Canada, using the MBON P2P sampling protocol for sandy beaches, with funding from the Government of Canada's Coastal Environmental Baseline Program.Citation: Reinhart B, Jonah L (2025). Shellfish Water Classification Program – Marine Water Quality Data in New Brunswick
This dataset provides marine bacteriological water quality data for bivalve shellfish harvest areas in New Brunswick, Canada. Shellfish harvest area water temperature and salinity data are also provided as adjuncts to the interpretation of fecal coliform density data. The latter is the indicator of fecal matter contamination monitored annually by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) within the framework of the Canadian Shellfish Sanitation Program (CSSP). The geospatial positions of the sampling sites are also provided. These data are collected by ECCC for the purpose of making recommendations on the classification of shellfish harvest area waters. ECCC recommendations are reviewed and adopted by Regional Interdepartmental Shellfish Committees prior to regulatory implementation by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO).This dataset is 'Deprecated'.
